There have been more updates since this article, charges upgraded, etc. but seemed like a decent enough one with the starting facts.

Despite a lack of time, when I do want down time catching up on cases, I am finding not many posts nor much on on the ones I follow.

Although child cases bother me, I've already seen the facts in this one and I also believe they matter, a LOT. I;'ve been sucked in already, and also think I need some new cases. Many that I follow are in some stage of limbo or little news.

And I'm also more of a current crime follower and just not a lot new here so thought i'd do one.

Finally, this is happening way too much and how many are not charged where it may well have been intentional or known as to what they were doing...?? Gotten away with it in other words. So I think the cause, another HOT CAR DEATH, is one too that should be addressed.

This man has no hope imo and I HOPE they do NOT make any deal with him. He KNEW and he LIED, etc. Left kids in car many, many times.

N4T Investigators: Marana father sued by own daughter after hot car death case

In a new development, Christopher Scholtes, who pleaded guilty to the murder of his 2-year-old daughter Parker Scholtes, is now facing a lawsuit from his oldest daughter. Scholtes is set to be taken into custody Wednesday, following his guilty plea two weeks ago. The plea deal, which avoids a trial, ensures Scholtes will not serve more than 30 years in prison, though he has not been sentenced yet.

The lawsuit, filed October 28th in Maricopa County, accuses Scholtes and his wife Erika Scholtes of causing emotional distress to Scholtes' oldest daughter, who is 17 years old. News 4 Tucson's Chief Investigative Reporter Chorus Nylander has been following this case closely.

"The first time he did it [left a child in a hot car] was with me when I was younger than 7," the daughter said. She spoke exclusively with Chorus Nylander shortly after her half-sister Parker's death last year, alleging she too was left inside hot cars.

Due to her age, News 4 Tucson is not identifying the daughter. The lawsuit was filed on her behalf by her former guardian, Lindsay Eisenberg as a "next friend."

"We’re both named as plaintiffs because she’s still a minor, she can’t file on her own," Eisenberg said.

The lawsuit accuses Christopher and Erika Scholtes of emotional distress, assault, battery, and fraud.

He committed suicide?

Yep. From the article.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Christopher Ryan Scholtes, 38, was found dead around 5 a.m. Wednesday in a home near 7th Street and Northern Avenue.
Phoenix police said they are investigating his death as a suicide.

Isn't the wife also named in that lawsuit. So she has to defend it alone now. He is really something.
He's the worst I've seen I think re deaths like this. He repeatedly did such and did it with his eldest daughter, been going on for YEARS. Interesting to see the terms assault, battery and fraud. Sounds as if she suffered abuse too. And both parents named. Not just him.

It might sound cold but I'm not surprised he took a coward's way out.

It was the day he was to turn himself in yesterday. Pretty sure that was his reason although the lawsuit may have added to it all.

That day temps reached 109 degrees and that child was in that car for THREE hours just as a refresher.

He was drinking, playing video games and searching for porn. He shoplifted beer the same day.

This man was the epitome of a lousy and selfish father/man imo. He skated through life apparently and was never charged for leaving children in a hot car starting with his now 17 year old daughter and never did time for the thing he did.

I hope she in no way guilts herself, I'm sure that lawsuit he (or possibly they) very much deserved.

He now left his remaining children fatherless in addition to losing their sister. Even with him being sent to prison, they would have still had a father.

This case burned into me from the start and I have no sympathy whatsoever for him. And now he cheated justice.
