Police seek information about missing College of Charleston student last seen on Halloween

CHARLESTON — Campus and city officials are still seeking information about a College of Charleston student who was last seen at 2 a.m. on Oct. 31.

Owen Tillman Kenney, 19, was reported missing Nov. 1. He was last seen by friends in the area of King Street and Burns Lane early on Halloween, according
to a Nov. 2 statement from the Charleston Police Department.

Charleston police continue to lead the search for 19-year-old Owen Tillman Kenney, who remains missing after last being seen early Oct. 31.

The department is working with the FBI and the New Jersey State Police, using additional specialized resources as investigators pursue all credible leads, officials said.

Detectives confirmed that Kenney was walking alone onto the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway shortly after 3 a.m. on Oct. 31. While early reports said he was wearing a Boston Celtics jersey, investigators later determined he was wearing a black hooded jacket, light-colored pants and black Nike sneakers with white soles. His cellphone’s last recorded location was also on the bridge around that time.

Charleston police have used several resources in the search, including the Underwater Recovery Team, Harbor Patrol, K-9 units and the Unmanned Aerial System Team. The department has also received assistance from Carolina K9 Search and Rescue of Anderson, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit.

No word of him drinking or not. If yes, then my bets are in the water. They still are if he wasn't, but I would have a bit more hope.

The first post has three different areas seen and times of two I think and so the time must have changed as they found further sightings or info.

So last place was the pedestrian bridge? That's not good.

Wow a 2.7 mile bike/pedestrian bridge. Looked it up.

I'd be curious to know if anything happened to him on the night out and what his mood was like.

High on Halloween in Charleston was 67 and the low was 49. Looked it up.

So he likely went out in the Boston uniform which in the one pic shows shorts but had other clothing with it would seem anyhow to be warmer walking home. I don't think of 49 as cold but in Charleston they likely do.

He attended a Halloween event that evening that ran into the wee hours. They are clearly trying not to put a drinking or bar thing on it imo because that is likely what it was whether he drank or not. Not certain but most likely.

No mention of any other stops so probably there all night as far as they know and no accounts so far as to how he was, how he seemed, if there had been any trouble, etc.

That bridge if I recall is 2.5 miles long so adding in whatever distance from it to the bar and to home that's a fair hike. It said he wasn't far from home and so it seems he was heading home and had that intent. It would also seem then that the bridge is a normal part of that walk?

Very little to go on here.

It just occurred to me at 19 he would not have been in a bar unless he had a fake ID or the bar was known to serve minors. So he was at some other place or event possibly or maybe a house party.

Not that there was where he was last seen but again I wonder how his evening went.
