‘Today’ show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother is missing in Arizona and authorities suspect crime

The disappearance of the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie over the weekend is being investigated as a crime based on what authorities saw at her home, an Arizona sheriff said Monday.

Asked to explain why investigators believe the Tucson-area home is a crime scene, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Nancy Guthrie has limited mobility and said there were other things indicating she did not leave on her own, but he declined to further elaborate.

“I need this community to step up and start giving us some calls,” Nanos said during a news conference.

The sheriff said Guthrie, who lived alone, was of sound mind.

“This is not dementia related. She’s as sharp as a tack. The family wants everyone to know that this isn’t someone who just wandered off,” Nanos said, adding that she needs her daily medication.

Guthrie was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at her home in the Tucson area and her family reported her missing around noon Sunday, the sheriff said.

Nanos said a family member received a call from someone at church saying Guthrie wasn’t there, leading family to search for her at her home and then calling 911.

“From what the family’s told us and everything we’ve learned, she could not walk out of that home 50 yards. We believe she was taken out of the home against her will, and that’s how this investigation is moving,” the sheriff told NBC’s Tom Llamas.

On Monday morning, Nanos said search crews worked hard but have since been pulled back.

“We don’t see this as a search mission so much as it is a crime scene,” the sheriff said.

Even so, a sheriff’s helicopter flew over the desert Monday afternoon near Guthrie’s home in the affluent Catalina Foothills area on the northern edge of Tucson. Her brick home has a gravel driveway and a yard covered in Prickly Pear and Saguaro cactus.

Savannah Guthrie issued a statement on Monday, NBC’s “Today” show reported.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” she said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear Nancy.”

2:31:31
2:36:19
3:27:19
3:45:17

As a reminder

1:47 camera disconnects
2:12 a camera detects movement
2:28 pacemaker is not connected to app
Thanks for having the patience to do that. I watched it several times and couldn't even accurately count the vehicles LOL. So in reality only the 2.31 and 2 37 vehicles would fit with the 41 minute timeframe. Did you happen to remember the direction the vehicles were going? Eg right to left or l to r.

ETA 2.36.19 is travelling L to R. Others all R to L. From Roundpeg post 1595.

Might be true, but doesn't mean the women weren't just trying to draw attention to themselves. Why wouldn't they go to police first? What if the perp got angry and harmed them, now that their concerns have been shared all over social media? You'll be able to knock me over with a feather if this is legit.

Thank you for posting this timeline! It also explains where they come up with saying the perp was in the house for 41 minutes.
I think the 41 minutes are from the original timeline but people assume they were in the home from the time the camera stopped to when her pacemaker disconnected. I don't necessarily think that's the case. He could well have disconnected the camera and continued doing things outside but all assumed from the video I think he was entering but he may well not have been the way it sounds now...

However, the cars could add to that 41 min assumption, but how since news never knew about any of that prior...?

It was never LE who came up with the 41 minutes as far as I know, it was some news source and then everyone ran with it...

It came up before i believe but LE were not looking at anything outside a 2 mile radius. This video was just outside that radius so now they are looking at it. However, if it never got closer than 2 miles from Nancy's residence, i cannot see that it will be relevant now.
Yeah, I'm not getting excited about much easily in this case any longer. I'd also think in all these weeks they'd be reviewing any video that was provided to them but who knows...

I'd think they'd be looking at video on any route any car could have taken from the start...

I watched a couple of things last night and imo they are all just desperate for news, even Entin. He's doing his shows every day on it of course and just using whatever he can find or any guest he can get to speculate on it.

I have to say I may miss something as I just don't think most is breaking news any longer but if I do, I do.

I think media and alternative media has not helped in this case one bit.

Jmo of course.

Exactly!

The 41 minutes comes from these times that Roundpeg posted.
1.47 to 2.28 = 41 minutes.

1:47 camera disconnects
2:12 a camera detects movement
2:28 pacemaker is not connected to

Right, 13 and 28 = 41. From the original timeline. If they only now found out about this traffic, the traffic had nothing to do with people thinking 41 minutes, it came from the original timeline, long, long before this traffic has ever been mentioned.

I look at it as possibly 16 minutes myself. He disconnects camera. He is outside doing other things, maybe looking for entry, other cameras, one detects movement, then he enters. So that would be after 2:12 16 minutes or less in house.

What I've been saying all along is there is no way to be sure when he entered the home as we've never been told much less how he entered.

It's been an assumption from the start, the 41 minutes and of note not the sheriff nor the FBI has ever confirmed that 41 minutes that almost all out there assume.

I would love to know which side of the street this house is on.

I'd add that I'm not saying 41 minutes is wrong, I'm just saying there is absolutely no reason to believe it's right either.
Yes but only because we don't know the exact time he entered the premises. If he was only 16 minutes in the house then that is a tremendously fast abduction of an elderly woman and he could not have had much time to ransack or steal anything very much. So just a kidnapping?

My thoughts exactly on going to the police first.

The BS that people have been saying, has to be destroying that family.

There should be stiff penalties for those doing these things.

From reviewing the footage and my screenshots, it looks the 2:36:19 exited the frame to the right, all others to the left.

Well we do have Savanna say the night she was "snatched" from her bed which kind of sounds like there was one intent...? No?

I'm not saying that's right either but it's possible.

Most news and talking heads out there have been obsessing about what the heck he could be doing in the house for 41 minutes but I've never been convinced he was in there that long, not ever.

Then it comes out or seems to now that that video was up on leaving, not on entry and even more possible if you ask me...

There'\s been talk about the back door since the start...

I just think it would be wise as no one is doing out there to not assume it was 41 minutes INSIDE. Clearly he was likely on the premises for 41 minutes but not necessarily inside...

Many assumed too as his gloved hand looked about to pound or knock on the door that he did. Doesn't mean she answered. I heard somewhere, I believe it comes from family she wore very high powered hearing aids and good chance she took those out at night... She may not have even heard the door or he NEVER knocked at all or entered through the front...

I'm just keeping my mind open as I'm not sure some of these assumptions out there are right...

Totally agree. I care about this case as much as the next person. An 84 year old woman, I mean how can we not?? I also like info as much as the next person on cases we follow but not at the expense of the investigation or harm to the family.

And maybe family is involved, and maybe none are, but it doesn't matter. This is out of control and has been from the start.

The Richins trial has taken me away from it lately and I still care, I want her found badly, but I'm no longer listening to all the bull out there. There's been nothing big breaking imo in days on end and it's all desperation news and speculation.

I don't even care if I miss breaking news, I'll just she glad if she is found or they get answers whenever I hear it.

There has been not a raid we know of since those first couple a long time ago now and those were probably their best bets. I hope not, and maybe they got something from one or the other, but it doesn't seem so...

There SHOULD be penalties for some of this, I agree.

Here's the weird thing. I did some snooping around regarding that video. I found a house that could possibly be where the ring video came from. No, I'm not about to dox an innocent bystander.

The house I found is 6 minutes from Nancy's and the fleeing car would literally be exiting frame right if I'm correct.

So it fits is what you are saying?
