Oklahoma authorities continue search for missing children

The Tulsa Police Department says the search for two missing children is still underway after the mother allegedly refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Officials are looking for 2-year-old Miracle Crook and 1-year-old Tony Crook who were last seen Friday, May 22, near the Shoreline Apartments in Tulsa, near East 21st St. and I-44, around 9 a.m.

Another affiliate reports the children were with their mother, Donisha Willis, when they went missing.

On the night of May 21, Willis’ parents and sister stopped by the apartment.

The last time the children were seen was on surveillance video at Ryan’s Mingo, a convenience store near the complex, around 8:30 a.m. the next morning. They were with Willis at the time, police say.

“That’s the last time we saw them,” said Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin. “Those are the last images we have and we believe that’s what they were wearing.”

About 30 minutes later that morning, a witness saw the children at the apartment with Willis.

However since then, the children have not been seen, and Willis was found passed out on the couch by police at the apartment.

She allegedly became “verbally abusive,” Affiliate KJRH reports, saying she didn’t care when asked where the children were.

Lt. John Adams says Willis is not giving any information on the whereabouts of the children and refused to cooperate.

“[We] Canvassed the apartment complex several times. Helicopter. Did everything we could,” Adams said.

I’m back at Shoreline Apartments today, where it looks like @OHPDPS’s dive team is about to put in with @TulsaFire to do a sonar search of the pond

They’re in, and they’ve got equipment out to rake

Pond is much bigger than I first thought..

This is what their damn mother should be doing. This woman is just awesome.

I love this woman! I'd love it so much if she were able to find them safe!

Missing toddlers presumed dead; police shift focus to Mingo Creek after reviewing video footage

After three days of searching, Tulsa police say the effort to locate two missing toddlers is now an effort to recover their bodies.

Police Chief Wendell Franklin said while re-canvassing Shoreline Apartments on Tuesday morning, investigators found video footage that shows Miracle Crook, 3, and Tony Crook, 2, playing in a grassy area near Mingo Creek.

"And we do have video of the kids going down the embankment, holding hands together, and never reappearing," Franklin said Tuesday afternoon at a press briefing. "We are looking at a recovery effort at this point. We are fairly confident that there is no other place for them to have come back up and been able to survive."

Well you warned me. And I still wasn't prepared. :(

This is awful. Poor children. I wonder if they stripped their clothing off or were they back to the apartment in between? It is too bad no one saw them because at the age they were and in diapers I would like to think someone would have taken their hand back to safety and called someone.

Did I miss something? Why would they have taken their clothes off? They were clothed in the video... When he said they were wearing diapers I don't think he meant they were wearing ONLY diapers? Sounds like they likely just slipped and fell in.

I am pretty sure he said it twice. I can listen again as I don't want to pass on false info. I believe he said they weren't wearing clothes or had none on for anyone along the area of the waterway down the way would realize that. I will go listen again, and we can delete it if I have it wrong.

It is right at the end. He says straight up that the children were not wearing clothing other than a Pamper. Then in response to a question said they know that from the video. He then says it again that they were both in diapers. ETA; I guess my thought is the first pic of them was at the east side of the complex and then this one they found was on the west side, I am simply wondering if they were home in between or if they themselves got their clothing off, seem a bit young for that but perhaps the three year old...

You're right. I missed it and heard him wrong.

So what do you think the reason might be? Not sure if we know the difference in time between the one pic and this one, he also said they probably wouldn't release this one because he could see no benefit to doing that. Watching two in diapers going towards water would be heartbreaking imo. I could see the kids possibly doing it. I just think it is sad if they were home in between, and someone let them disappear yet again...

Yeah I don't know. I guess it depends how long in between. Kids could have taken their clothes off to "go swimming" or play in the water. Sounds like the steps lead right down into the water and it was his inclination that the kids had played there before when the water was lower.

Crossed my mind too, that the kids may have done it to go play and the water was normally lower it sounds like when they had possibly been there before. I guess it depends where or if their clothing is found. The only thing I can see to feel a bit heartwarmed about is they were holding hands and close to each other it seems. Hopefully they had no idea, it did say they were seen playing prior to heading towards the water hand in hand. I didn't word that right but I trust all know what I mean, just hope they did not suffer I guess is what I mean.

I wonder what they will be able to charge her with. What I mean is she did not actively murder them (since no one is seen with them) so I wonder what the highest charge possible is and if they can prove it? If she was passed out from something as opposed to sleeping, they for sure should be able to prove negligence. If she was not supposed to have them, there may be some charge for that?
