'Please bring my son home' | Mom of 15-month-old at center of AMBER Alert describes relationship with suspect

A Houston Regional AMBER Alert has been issued for 15-month-old Matheo Vasquez.

Matheo was last seen Jan. 25 at around 5:19 p.m. on Green Stone Drive near Addicks Satsuma Road in northwest Harris County. He was last known to be with Jason Irwin Vasquez, 25.

On Saturday, HCSO said Vasquez was driving a 2016 dark gray GMC Sierra pickup truck with license plate #JZY5720, but on Sunday, investigators told KHOU 11 News they don't believe Vasquez is in that vehicle anymore.

Matheo's mother, Brissa Ortiz-Perez, spoke with KHOU 11 News about her son's disappearance.

"[Matheo} is happy, he's healthy, he's beautiful, that's the love of my life," Ortiz-Perez said. She is distraught as the search continues.

Ortiz-Perez and her family spent the afternoon handing out flyers in the Hearthstone neighborhood where the boy was last seen.

Ortiz-Perez and Matheo's father, Joel Vasquez, appear to have a tumultuous relationship.

"I let him get his son two weeks ago, we got into an altercation here at the house, we ended up facing stuff," Ortiz-Perez said.

Records show Joel Vasquez was arrested on Saturday for interference with custody. Harris County Precinct 5 Constable Deputies went to the home on Saturday, but at one point, Joel's brother, Jason, got away with Matheo.

"They let Jason go inside with the baby, Jason ran out the back door, jumped the fence with my kid, left with no backpack, no sweater, nothing," Ortiz-Perez said.

Matheo was last known to be wearing a black sweater and black pants. He is 2 feet tall and weighs 25 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

"If you're out there Jason, please bring my son home. I know you love him, I know you love Matheo like he's your own Jason, I've seen you take care of that little boy, so why do this?" Ortiz-Perez said.

Uncle charged with kidnapping in connection with missing 15-month-old; father held without bond until child is found

After an AMBER Alert was issued for missing 15-month-old Matheo Vasquez, who was last seen in the 15000 block of Green Stone in Houston, one of the boy’s relatives has been charged with kidnapping.

On Monday, Joel Vasquez, Matheo’s father, appeared in court after being arrested for a felony charge of interference with child custody. He was told he will not be given bond until Matheo is found.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office told KPRC 2 that Jason took the boy without permission, and his family wants him returned home. The source would not provide a reason as to why the uncle took the child, and he wouldn’t say he specifically thinks Matheo is in danger at this time.

Matheo lived at a home in northwest Harris County with Joel and Jason. A neighbor told KPRC 2′s Joy Addison that the boy seemed to be well taken care of.

Dad should be in jail without bond til his brother brings the kid back and why wasn't he appealing to him??

And what the heck was the PD doing letting either man go inside with the child? Water under the bridge now I guess but STILL... Dumb move.

It would seem like he likely is not in danger and it appears all care about the child. Let's hope.

Now dad is charged with interference of custody and uncle is going to get charged with kidnapping most likely. GROW UP people. It seems mom let him see his son, both of them in the son's life I would guess. You don't have custody so what? SUCK it up and take your time and visits and be there for your son, work out visitation and be done with it. Children raising children. A dad who thinks the answer is interfering with custody and an uncle who thinks the answer is kidnapping. GROW UP!!

Turn yourself in if you love that child. And try to work a deal.

Post 2 states the boy lives at home with Joel and Jason, so how could they be charged with taking him, if that is the case. Finding it hard to follow this. It seems they interfered with the custody visit to his mum then?

From post 2 -

I didn't read that link, I guess I should.

My guess is possibly they were living together, at least dad and mom, if not all, but it was up and down and back and forth, they argued and were separated or some such. The one post said she let dad take him for a visit. Maybe they are both claiming different things as to who he lived with or who had custody. I believe though dad was charged with interference with custody and that would mean he did NOT have custody.

There's also the possibility there never was any custody arrangement or agreement or Court order.

The boy has been found safe and is to be reunited with his mother.

The missing 15-month-old child who was the subject of an AMBER Alert on Saturday has been found safely, the boy’s aunt confirmed.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that the child had been located and would be reunited with his mother.

I'd hope he gave him up on his own. If he did, he may have a CHANCE of striking a deal and not having a felony kidnapping charge.
