Madeleine Beth McCann (born 12 May 2003) disappeared on the evening of 3 May 2007 from her bed in a holiday apartment at a resort in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve region of Portugal. Her whereabouts remain unknown.[3] The Daily Telegraph described the disappearance as "the most heavily reported missing-person case in modern history".[4]

Madeleine was on holiday from the UK with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann; her two-year-old twin siblings; and a group of family friends and their children. She and the twins had been left asleep at 20:30 in the ground-floor apartment, while the McCanns and friends dined in a restaurant 55 metres (180 ft) away.[5] The parents checked on the children throughout the evening, until Madeleine's mother discovered she was missing at 22:00.

Not even saying I believe him responsible here necessarily but he is a criminal and depraved person.

For the family I'd hope the body be found. Other than that, how they expect it to help them in a case much 18 years later, not really sure unless clothing of hers found with his DNA or some such.

In this one and in Ramsey, I'm very apt to be doubtful of answers if any ever come unless there is SOLID reason for such. In neither imo did they do what they should have done over the initial time/years.

I'm a bit wary of reporting but we will see I guess. I'm not sure that they even know the bones are human yet. The toys and bathing suits sound scary when finding something like that but not sure about what they necessarily hold yet as any kind of evidence. I mean it sounds dumb but he could say he got bathing suits from a dumpster or some dumb excuse, unless they find DNA, etc on them. Perhaps in a short time they can?

A mystery donor has ensured that the key suspect in Madeleine McCann's disappearance will walk free from prison, it has been revealed.

Christian Brueckner is the main suspect in the unsolved disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine McCann, who vanished from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007.

The 48-year-old, who is currently serving a seven-year jail sentence in Germany for the 2005 rape of an American woman, then 72, in the same Algarve resort, is set to be released on September 17.

Investigators, who suspect that Brueckner played a part in young Madeleine's disappearance, had initially hoped to keep the German national behind bars due to an outstanding €1,446 fine from a previous conviction in 2015.

If Brueckner were unable to pay it, he would have been forced to serve another 56 days of 'alternative imprisonment', with it hoped that the extension of his jail sentence would help buy investigators more time to bring fresh charges in the McCann case.

But now, an anonymous donor has paid the fine, granting Brueckner his long-awaited freedom from prison in just three months time, Bild has reported.

Brueckner's lawyer, Dr. Friedrich Fülscher, told Bild that they believed upon his release the convicted paedophile plans to live on the island of Sylt in northern Germany, where he previously received a 21 month sentence for drug dealing.

However, prosecutors fear that he will flee Germany, meaning that it will be incredibly challenging to bring him to court should they find enough evidence to charge him in connection with Madeleine's disappearance.

Am I the only one (sure I'm not) that thinks a convicted pedophile should never be relesed from jail and face and serve long if not life long sentences? Nice he has a donor, NOT. Why should who be a mystery? Of course it's not the states so who knows how it works.

It's probably his mum. The sentence he is currently serving was only 7 years for raping a 72 year old woman in 2007. So they took a heck of a long time proving and convicting him of that. Not sure what other priors he has apart from the drug dealing and rape. Seems like he did pretty much what he liked in Praia da Luz. He would have been 28 when he raped that 72 year old and 30 when Madeleine went missing. I remember the sketch LE released of a man carrying a young girl at the time, whom they were looking for.

Hopefully, when this drug dealing, paedophile/geriatric rapist is released in September, he will be immediately rearrested.

Raping an elderly woman is about as bad. Some sentences are SO inappropriate these days. WHY?

Yeah we can hope they have or get something to rearrest. Not counting on it yet at this point. That entire article sounds like they are desperate too but do not have anything yet.

I just watched this video. It fully explains the circumstances of Maddie's disappearnace and what LE believe happened. 37 minutes long. Graphic in places but fully explains why he is no.1 suspect and why there has been no charges so far. Explains the timeline too.

Maddie suspect Christian Brueckner speaks out for the first time since jail release in bizarre interview from a field - but refuses to discuss missing Brit toddler and says he is being 'hounded'​

The freed suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has given his first full interview since being released from jail - but refused to discuss the missing British toddler.

In a bizarre sit-down conversation conducted in a field, Christian Brueckner said he does 'not feel free' because he is wearing an ankle tag and is 'followed around by police 24/7'.

It comes just hours after the German native attempted to confront the prosecutor who accused him of killing Maddie.

Brueckner travelled hundreds of miles to challenge lawyer Hans Christian Wolters, who has long stated he has evidence which proves Brueckner's involvement in the toddler's 2007 disappearance.

After being released from a rape sentence two weeks ago, Brueckner, who has denied all allegations relating to Maddie, claimed he wanted to see the prosecutor 'take responsibility' for what he believes has led to him being 'hounded by the media'.

Now, speaking in an interview with Sky News, Brueckner explained how he wants Wolters to stop the 'witch hunt against me and give me my life back'.

The suspect said Wolters refused to meet him, adding that he was told he was no longer 'their responsibility' because he had been convicted and released.

And when pressed by the interviewer if he killed Maddie, Brueckner replied: 'My defence lawyers have told me to say nothing on this topic and unfortunately I have to abide by that.'

Brueckner, who has not been arrested, charged or questioned by German officials about Maddie's disapperance, has also refused to speak with Scotland Yard and Portuguese police in their investigations on the case.

Since being released from Sehnde prison, near Hanover, on September 17, where he was serving a seven-year sentence for the 2005 rape of an American pensioner in Portugal, Brueckner has been living in Neumunster.


Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail last week, a source close to his legal team said he will not stay in Neumunster. Indeed, the plan is to move him to Munich - in the south of the country - at the earliest opportunity.

The move to a bigger city will make Brueckner less conspicuous – and, consequently, more difficult to track.
 
I have been following this over the last couple of years. Why wouldnt the McCann's agree to a DNA test? Wouldn't that be the end of it?

A woman accused of stalking Madeleine McCann’s mother Kate McCann shouted “why are you doing this to me?” as she was led from court on Wednesday.

Kate McCann appeared in the witness box at Leicester Crown Court, shielded from the dock by a curtain so she could not see defendants Julia Wendell, 24, also known as Julia Wandelt, and Karen Spragg, 61.
Both women have denied a count of stalking causing serious alarm and distress to Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

The judge told jurors that the use of a screen was “entirely usual” and did not reflect on the defendants in any way.
The court previously heard that Ms Wandelt, from southwest Poland, claimed to be Madeleine, who vanished from Portugal’s Algarve in 2007.
She had turned up at the McCanns’ family home and signed a letter addressed to them as the missing girl, the court heard.
Ms McCann began by saying she first became aware of the existence of Ms Wandelt about three years ago.

Prosecutor Michael Duck KC then confirmed that the first attempts to contact the McCann family by Ms Wandelt occurred on 24 June 2022.

Ms McCann said she became aware through officers working on Operation Grange, the Met Police inquiry into her daughter’s disappearance, that Ms Wandelt believed herself to be Madeleine.
Mr Duck then read excerpts of messages Ms Wandelt sent to Ms McCann, in which the defendant said “let me prove I am not a liar” and “give me a chance, I don’t want money”.

Ms McCann was asked by Mr Duck if she had responded to the messages.
Ms McCann answered: “No. I did not want to engage.”
Asked by the Crown’s barrister Michael Duck KC about a visit Ms Wandelt and Ms Spragg made to the McCanns’ home address in Leicestershire on 7 December 2024, Kate McCann said it left her “distressed”.

She said: “I pulled up on the drive… it was really dark, it was the weekend, we had the gales.
“I was opening the boot to get something out and I heard someone say ‘Kate’.
“I knew it was someone behind me, but I didn’t know who it was. I had pictures of [Ms Wandelt], plus she was quite vivid in my mind anyway because of the communications.
“She called me ‘mum’ I think, she was asking for a DNA test, ‘why won’t you do a DNA test?’ and pleading with me.”

Asked by Mr Duck how she felt to be “greeted in that manner on your driveway”, Ms McCann said: “I got a fright anyway; when I realised who it was, I felt quite distressed.

“Then they followed me, I remember trying to close the door and Julia trying to put her hands out to stop me closing the door.”
Asked about the manner of Ms Spragg, who had attended the McCann home address with Ms Wandelt, Kate McCann said: “I would say she was slightly more aggressive.

“She was a bit more kind of… ‘don’t you want to find your daughter?’”
As the prosecution finished asking Ms McCann questions, Ms Wandelt sobbed loudly and shouted, “why are you doing this to me?”
Officers escorted her out of the dock at Leicester Crown Court as she continued to cry uncontrollably.

The trial continues.

Why didn't LE test her to rule her out. that is the better question and then they would have known. They are the ones that are supposed to be investigating this.

Well this is what i don't understand but i don't think the McCann's want to compare their DNA to her. Why, I do not know, as then it would be the end of it if LE conducted the test under strict control conditions.
 
Haven't the parents submitted DNA anyway? For the search of their daughter? I agree, compare it to what is on file and be done with these imposters.
