LARRY LINK: Murdered on June 7, 2011 at Steins, New Mexico - Steins Railroad Ghost Town- remains a mystery

The murder mystery of a man who owned a ghost town near the New Mexico-Arizona line remains unsolved four months after he was found shot to death, and investigators say the case has stalled.
“We need help,” said Capt. Ryan Suggs of the New Mexico State Police. “We need to turn up a new lead.”
The body of Larry Link, 68, and a small-caliber revolver nearby were found by his son on June 7 just outside his property in Steins, a 5,000-person town that borders Arizona. Link and his wife Linda were the longtime owners of Steins Railroad Ghost Town.
Suggs told the Las Cruces Sun-News that the only people who have been ruled out in the killing are Link’s family members.

MEDIA: Who killed Larry Link from Steins, New Mexico in 2011? He owned a fun ghost town roadside attraction. Why kill him?

I happened upon this case via a traveler's YouTube video. ("Randomland")

I love roadside attractions AND ghost towns, so this really bothers me that the killer hasn't been caught. This is my way of bringing awareness to Larry's murder.

I’m not sure what you mean and my phone is acting up and I can’t link anything right now. :gaah: I’ll check it out later.

Maybe this will help in that last post, the account you posted from his family on FB.

The morning he was found HIS family was woken up at gun point from those that are supposed to serve and protect, even my 2 year daughter.

There is a bit more of interest in there as well. Says they were lied to and more.

Thank you! It was ringing a bell but couldn't remember where I saw it. I wonder if LE thought they were involved somehow? We need more info.

So did LE find him before the family knew, or why awaken the family at gunpoint?

Not making sense to me LE would have found him on his own property wasn't it? Yet the family be unaware. Of course there could be more than one family member living in various residences...? Maybe just one certain family member and his family had this happen and something had pointed at him/them.

Yeah, more info would help.

That was written by a family member who although may be truthful may have a bias in what they believe. Or she believes what she was told, I'd have to look again but I think she was young when it happened.

I thought a family member found him? But now I can't find where I saw it. I've looked at SO many things on the web about it, but most are pure speculation so I didn't link them.

My memory bites these days or it's selective lol. I read all the links when you put them up but couldn't recall but now that you say it, yes, it was his adult son right? It stands to reason there's be different families living in different places, meaning Larry was 68 and there's grandchildren so each of his adult kids and their families you'd think would have their own homes. Sooo who, with their family, was awakened at gunpoint, etc...?

It wouldn't be unusual to have divided opinions in the family if the crime is unsolved, or even to have one member suspicious of another.

I didn't find it real clear in that post with the gunpoint thing in it who she was a daughter of, or was it granddaughter... See, can't recall that either but I do recall her being young when it happened I think...

Yeah, I don’t get that gunpoint thing either. I have no clue what she’s talking about.

If I think of it, I'll go reread her account again tomorrow. Sometimes, a time or two through, plus learning some other information, something stands out more, etc.

I thought it was an odd thing and if true, can't quite understand how it came about or why.
