Amber Alert issued for missing 3-year-old Avondale girl

Authorities issued an Amber Alert on Saturday for a missing 3-year-old girl from Avondale.

Kehlani Rogers was last seen near 118th and Edgemont avenues on Friday around 11:30 p.m., according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Rogers is described as 3-foot-5 with a thin build. She has brown eyes and authorities said her brown hair was braided.

She was last seen wearing pink pajamas.

She is believed to be with a woman known as “Merena,” whom authorities said is a 30-year-old woman with brown hair and hazel eyes. Authorities said Merena has a short stature and thin build. She was last seen wearing a white shirt with pink or purple pants.

The Avondale Police Department said there is reason to believe that Rogers could be in danger, as Merena is not a relative.

Authorities said local hospitals and agencies have been notified of Rogers’ disappearance, but she has not turned up.

Amber Alert Issued for 3-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Kidnapped in Avondale

Authorities with the Avondale Police Department have described Kehlani as a Black girl, standing approximately 3 feet tall with a slender build, hazel eyes, and brown hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing pink pajamas and had braids.

She was reportedly wearing a white shirt paired with pink or purple pants at the time of the incident.

The alert has generated significant concern within the community as the search for the young girl continues.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but did we not just have another recent child from Avondale. Isn't that the place I looked up and thought it was southern AZ and then was told it was a reservation and the north? Same thing just happened when I looked it up. Last time I think when I looked further, I saw three places with that name, whether towns or what not in various areas in the State.

If it's the same place then boy that seems pretty significant.

My first thought on a white female? Sounds the opposite of what some white liars say when making something up, it was a black or Hispanic person...

Don't know enough though. Just first impressions.

What a beautiful child. What is WRONG with people?!!!

In an updated statement released just before 6 p.m. on Feb. 21, Avondale Police addressed an image circulating on social media, and urges the woman in the photograph to call the police department to give a statement.

"We are aware that there is a photograph circulating on social media of a female being identified by Kehlani’s relatives of a person believed to be "Merena". We also received that photograph from a family member who wished to remain anonymous. At this time, we are unable to verify the validity of the photograph…"

Woman suspected of taking 3-year-old from Avondale believed to be seen in City of Maricopa, police say

An Avondale girl at the center of an Amber Alert was seen with the woman accused of abducting her in the city of Maricopa on Saturday, according to officials with the Avondale Police Department.

The Avondale Police Department said three-year-old Kehlani Rogers was last seen by her parents at 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 20 near 118th and Edgemont avenues when they put her to bed. When the parents woke up, Kehlani was gone.

Police said Kehlani is believed to be with Mariana Noriega, a 23-year-old woman. Both were seen Saturday in the City of Maricopa at a local business, police said.

Family told 12News that Noriega was brought in by the family after asking for help and they believe she left with Kehlani in a stroller by going out of the garage.

Phoenix movers spot Amber Alert suspect at gas station, block her car until police arrive

A Valley moving company played a large role in helping to save a young girl who was allegedly abducted from her Avondale home.

Camelback Moving shared video with FOX 10, showing some of their workers at the QuikTrip.

A security guard who first spotted a woman and child matching those in the Amber Alert description enlisted the help of the Camelback Moving crew to help with the situation.

"Oh my God, that's her," said one of the Camelback Moving employees.

"Is it really?" another employee asked.

"Yep, that's her. Looks like her. That's exactly what she looks like," the employee replied.

The moving crew then used their trucks to block Noriega's vehicle, trapping her in the parking lot until police arrived at the scene.

Officials with Camelback Moving say they recently began training employees in human-trafficking awareness training.

"We are incredibly proud of our community heroes for their courage, quick thinking and teamwork," Camelback Moving President Chad Olsen said. "Their actions exemplify what it means to look out for our community and to take its safety seriously. This is a powerful reminder that the Amber Alert system works. We also want to express our sincere gratitude that Kehlani was safely returned to her family."
