Karen Read accused of backing into boyfriend and leaving him to die *TRIAL IN PROGRESS* (3 Viewers)

This woman didn't do this. I'd be willing to bet that someone in the house did it. Someone in the house looked up "How long will it take for somebody to die in the cold." Karen couldn't have done that search.

Is there a cover up conspiracy?

Oh you got that right!! It's just utterly stupid of AJ to have made him read them all and I'm fairly stupid that I'd never heard Higgins last time because it was so clear to me! I mean I've always thought that of her but I've taken it from other things. It was sooooo obvious but of course he is trying to twist it and probably needs to get in front of it as well. I could not believe the KR believers in the chat where I watched it who were SO BLIND to what it all showed. That woman is as much of a game player and narcissist as Lori Daybell. I am fairly certain I must not have heard them all before, I knew of them but don't think I heard them all. I reached the same opinion you have just by other things but that is just icing on the cake. And that's why I want to hear Brennan's redirect because I think he will point every bit of that out and MORE. Someone compared her to Jodi Arias though. LOL. True too. She's like some stalking maniac. And in the Waterfall is it? vidI eo when I saw Higgins it was like he isn't even attractive, it was all from a bit of a distance most of it but he's pretty heavy, etc. She just wanted to play John imo and with someone he knew!

Jackson tried, he is trying to lay the groundwork for their story but it was just stupid imo, but of course jury doesn't know yet the deal there yet or shouldn't. Their entire story has to circumvent all this evidence. I never saw Higgins ONCE look in Karen's direction. So he was trying to say at the end he was looking at O'Keefe I suppose to lay groundwork for later there was some fight and various things. Not sure what all you heard so just filling in a bit. Personally I think Higgins was looking at the guy who had just walked away in that direction.

Of course the dog came up. Again trying to lay the groundwork for their fantastical story. I don't know how people can even buy into that sh*t. Not knocking anyone but it is SO clearly bs.

Then AJ was trying to get him to say that KR ghosted Higgins and that Higgins had a thing for her LMAO. The witness resisted well and pointed out on one occasion that AJ didn't give the first part of an exchange, etc., etc. on something he was trying to imply, typical defense tactics and this guy knew it was. Again chat thought, just her supporters, not the ones who didn't think her innocent, were saying the witness was dumb, etc. so naive or biased not sure which, this guy has held his own QUITE well.

Anyhow, even if you heard all this yesterday, a bit of a fill in for anyone who didn't see it. I was sick of it by the end but I really WANTED to hear all this. She absolutely SICKENS me.
I am so glad you are watching and reporting it so i don't have too. I have already read all those texts to JO that last day and she just sounded manic and did not give him any peace and quiet that whole day. Toxic texting and calling all day long.

I try. I certainly have missed some parts, between this sleep thing and some other things, I can't always watch. It's hard too to find the time sometimes to give a recap or something here, but I figure someone should cover this on this thread or this second trial won't even be on here or much about it. I know all don't have the time or can't watch so when I can, I try. Tried in Daybell too.

That about John having "hooked up with another girl" is utter bs! Of course, at that time, Higgins hadn't known the truth about what had actually happened, which occurred at the beginning of a multi-family vacation in Aruba over the new year holiday.
Anyway, it shows Read's jealousy and rage over what was in reality a mere figment of her imagination. And it's shows she's two-faced being that she later apologized to those concerned and offered to pay their hotel room bill...
Btw, "those concerned" were sister's who were very close friends of John's who'd never before seen or met Read.

Re raising the kids, she said John's heart wasn't in it... that he was doing it only because he was close to his sister... she said they were spoiled..
OMG, where does one start? It's those lines of her dialogue that piss me off the most. That woman never wanted kids and I believe the truth is that she'd never take in her sister's kids to raise! As for "spoiled", I translate that to mean that she was jealous of the time and attention John gave the children.

She told Higgins that John didn't want to go anywhere with out her. Oh, Lord, again, it's the other way around and btw, I think that's how it was that night.
In the first place, she isn't the type to be interested in a family-oriented get together with young people, was she? And I believe that when John got out of the car, she was angry that he was going without her.
Anyway...
That dialogue was alot- alot- longer than what was presented in the first trial but I didn't see anything different- just additional and inconsequential, and being that it was presented through Bukhenek rather than Higgins, (and that there was other testimony re Aruba before Higgin's testimony) there a certain lack of context.

Agree with everything you just said. TOTALLY. Those messages show EXACTLY who she is and what she was doing despite the fact she lied in many of them. AND show WHO and WHAT she is. Oh she'd never take in someone else's kids. And yes, he never wanted her always with him. She keeps angling with Higgins what 50 times, 100 to get him to meet up just the two of them constantly and he resists throughout. It's obvious he doesn't trust it. And she tries EVERYTHING but tries I guess not to be TOO obvious BUT she really is obvious, he even picked up on it. This why I really want to see Brennan's redirect as I think he will blow through all that.

She is a jealous shrew but she tries to act to Higgins as if both her and John would be okay with the other seening someone else and she was not married, etc., etc. yet she was upset over the supposed New Year's incident. Then when she'd tried how long to get him alone she goes a step further and said John thought and asked if Higgins had an interest in her or some such. She scares him a bit about the cameras when SHE planted a kiss on him and then said John thought he picked up on something with Higgins at some bar and Higgins was immediately worried. THEN she kind of backed off. Oh no, the cameras didn't catch that, I know where they are.

He never crossed the lines she wanted him to cross, she couldn't even get him across the first one.

She is a game playing, jealous nasty shrew and a lying one to boot. She has no interest in this particular cop imo at all. She is trying to hurt John. She is a serious pyscho. I mean she could have went and used any outside male but nope, gotta be someone in the department, etc. Something that would REALLY cause issues AND really hurt him.

We agree entirely on this one. :)

Yeah, Higgins testified that he wasn't proud of his behavior- which I think is solely because he genuinely liked John and thought well of him-but Read led him on!
I feel sad for Higgins because all he wanted was a meaningful relationship- "the real deal" as he told her yet she kept leading him on.

for those of you who watch live online can ya send a link that isnt court tv purty please?
Sorry that I didn't see this earlier. Try Crime Talk on YT. Some days it is most that think she is innocent, other days it is half and half and so on but all are pretty respectful and nothing like Law and Crime with all the trolls, etc. He streams it every day. And his mods are very good. I'd link it but right now having some trouble linking. Scott Reisch is his name too. He often is in court, he is a practicing lawyer but has a good team and he streams it and they moderate it very well.

I think that, and she definitely was playing games but he is a good man, he resisted like what 100 freaking attempts? I also think he would not have with anyone if involved, and that as he kept saying to her he wanted to know intentions.

You know this is just speculation, but I've had the thought maybe he was even helping John in seeing if she could be trusted and how far she'd go. No reason to think that but it keeps popping into my head all of the time through those texts.

AJ trying to portray Higgins as jealous or bad is absolutely asinine. Karen is the jealous, crazy, temperamental, well I'd better stop...

Today was about all I could take. They ended at like 3 my time and out there it is earlier than that, but I was fine with it.

It is so obvious where Jackson is going from the first trial. And he was on repeat on the same question 100 times. On several of them, as their theory is ridiculous and always has been. Trying to make answers look like they mean different than they mean. But then they have to don't they, to dispute all the facts here and there for their ridiculous made up story?

I was so glad when it went to redirect. And since when does the D get to go one last time after redirect? Is that a Massachusetts thing?

Anyhow, I was glad it ended what I thought early. It was mostly Jackson all day and so obvious the bull he was doing, however, we know and jury probably doesn't. But he is sooooo obvious. That detective did great throughout in my opinion or captain. Never lost his cool once and And Brennan did great in redirect imo. He knows what is coming and they are out in front of it and so on.

There's not a doubt in my mind that Higgins would have never carried on with Read in any way, shape, or form if he thought she wasn't leaving John.
What's crazy is that John tried to end it but she wouldn't leave....

Anyway, yeah, the only person who had it out for John had it out for him that night and that was Read, clearly and blatantly demonstrated by her texts.

Trial unexpectedly called off for day. Feeds were up and everything. There is a RUMOR it was a bomb threat but if so, it sure came in right as about to start, I'm not taking that as fact. If there was I'm sure it was intentional as was the timing imo. People HAD to already be there it was just minutes from starting.

This is a good one. You should be able to find prior days testimonies too at this link. As Gbear says, i just found out too that today has been cancelled due to an unavoidable reason.

Agree 100% with all you said here.

Reason for no court today is apparently because KR is sick. The rest of the week's schedule has not been released.

My first guess was defense needed time for something so yeah, pulled something. However, there was a bomb scare rumor. So she only let's them know at the LAST minute. I mean it was moments from starting, meaning jurors traveled and all else. You know darned well she was up early doing hair and makeup and all. Whatever.

You know this throws off witnesses who may have traveled, taken the day off, planned and all else. It's a big deal. Perhaps it is that no one could be reached until that hour but if that's the case then there needs to be a change there too--there needs to be someone that can be called earlier than court starts who can let all others know, jurors, witnesses, etc.

And I think there is. Years ago I was not on a jury but I was called in for qualifying for it and the Clerk called me at I forget, maybe 7 to let me know it was off. She said she'd be calling all jurors. So in our county at least they do do that. So that brings me back to it being Read's thoughtlessness.

Agree 100% with all you said here.
Well, heck, I meant voicemails (not texts) lol, but yeah, it's right there in Higgins' texts that he liked John and thought well of him. I think he was just getting to know John but he considered him a friend.
You know, that's the thing; everyone who knew John, if they didn't love him, they liked him and thought well of him. The young woman who Read accused of "hooking up" with John had known him for years- about a decade, if I recall correctly- and had thought of him as a big brother. You see, her older sister had been married to John's best friend who'd died tragically- I forgot how- and they'd maintained their close bonds with one another.
Anyway, it's awful that that trip to Aruba was the last time either of the sisters would see John.

Juror in Karen Read’s first trial shares insight into deliberations – NBC Boston

[COLOR=rgba(13, 13, 13, 0.9)]"As we deliberated, we agreed that she was operating a vehicle, he died there on the lawn, and there was broken tail light pieces, there was an impact to the vehicle, maybe, somehow, that is why there was damage to the vehicle, he got injured and ultimately he died at that location, because of that, a little bit I swayed and said that is true, she operated the vehicle, etc., and then when you actually thought about it, the injuries he sustained were not consistent with what was provided to us as damage to the vehicle," he said. "There were too many unanswered pieces ultimately swaying me back to the opposite, which was not guilty."

Get tired of having this on, the morning was mostly lost as the niece and nephew were testifying and they went silent as they were minors. Then it was okay, a handful of troopers most not on too long. Then ended with a forensic woman, or evidence tech, and the one who never ever stops talking on the defense kept thinking he was going to get some Perry Mason moment. Wrong witness for one thing.

Oh Read looked fine for being sick yesterday. Must have so fortunately been some one day bug and she was breathing all over the attys next to her so they clearly weren't worried.

Anyhow, that's where it stood and ended, she will be back on stand tomorrow.

Did they find out what else was in the bag with the tailight housing?
