Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Friday 6th June, morning session

Looks like this is going to bring out some interesting subject matter. A lot of objections by P so far though.

Refresh for updates
Lori Vallow Daybell is on trial in Maricopa County, Arizona, on one charge of conspiracy to commit the murder of Brandon Boudreaux, her former nephew-in-law. Nate Eaton is live in the courtroom with updates. Please excuse any typos. Times listed below are in Mountain Standard Time, so they are an hour behind Idaho. (Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time.) The most recent updates are at the top.

12:08 p.m. Judge asks Lori if she was intended to admit the email. Lori says yes and she would like to question Brandon about it. Judge says it may not be relevant. Treena asks if Lori is opening a third-party defense. Lori says she is not, she is trying to display her connection to Melanie but is not blaming her. Treena says she is not alleging a financial gain in this case and planned to keep it out. But if Lori brings in the email bringing up finances and the “cult,” Treena says this will change her witnesses. Judge is going to think about it over lunch. Be back at 1:10 p.m.
12:06 p.m. Judge says in the last line, Pillar wrote, “This information is requested to see if Melanie has any financial gain from your death.” Judge says it’s a fair area for the defense to talk about in general. Judge wants to hear from state. Treena says that is one conglomeration of emails, it doesn’t fully cover everything. Treena says the defendant has never raised a third-party defense. Treena says the Melanie case is an active investigation that is still ongoing. Treena says in terms of opening the door, there is an open investigation into Melanie Boudreaux and the text messages might relate to that case, the Tammy Daybell case and the Charles Vallow case.
12:03 p.m. Lori wants to admit an email she says is between Brandon and Pillar. Judge is reviewing the email. He says it appears to be three different emails on a screen from Feb. 12. He asks Lori what is relevant about the email. She says it’s relevant to his discussion from Oct. 2 until now. Judge asks what is relevant for this jury to decide – some fact they need to decide. Lori says it’s relevant in the way the email communicates in the information being given to detectives was directly from Brandon. Judge asks what in the content of the email is relevant to the case. Lori says, “The last line.”
12:02 p.m. Lunch break. Back at 1:15 p.m.
11:59 a.m. Lori asks how many communications he has had with Pillar since Oct. 2 until now. He has no idea. Lori asks about the number of phone calls. He has no idea. Lori asks, “More than 10?” He says I’m sure. “More than 20?” He says he talks with Pillar about his case. “More than 100?” He says he honestly cannot say. Lori asks how many text messages. He says he has never counted. Lori again says, “More than 10? More than 100?” She asks about the number of emails. He says he doesn’t know.
11:58 a.m. Lori asks where his friends were when Brandon spoke with Pillar. Brandon spoke with Pillar inside the police car and his friends were outside. After the interview, he rejoined his friends. Lori asks Brandon if he interviewed with anyone else besides Robb and Pillar. He doesn’t recall, but may have spoken with other officers.
11:56 a.m. Lori asks if they stayed the whole day. He says yes, they did, “they were awesome.” Lori asked if they eventually went into the house. He says yes. Lori asks if any of the officers went into the house. Brandon says she would have to ask them. She asks if they went into the garage. He says they may have but he doesn’t remember. Lori asks the names of his friends and if they were interviewed by the police. He says Lori would need to ask the police or his friends.
11:56 a.m. Lori asks how long it took for his friends to arrive. He says he can’t remember, he was in shock. Lori asks if they came together. He thinks they came separate. Lori asks if the crime scene tape was already up when they got there. He doesn’t remember. She asks if they had to park outside of the crime scene tape. He doesn’t know where they parked.
11:55 a.m. Lori asks when Brandon called his friends. He says when he realized he was nearly shot and the police asked if he had anybody to call. Brandon thought of his dad because he’s his strength. Brandon becomes emotional. His dad doesn’t live in Arizona so he called his two close friends.
11:53 a.m. Lori asks Brandon if he was worried about being shot at again in the driveway. He says a lot of things went through his mind. Lori asks who arrived first from the police department. He says he can’t say – he doesn’t remember who arrived first. Lori asks about Officer Robb sticking a pen in the bullet hole. Brandon doesn’t remember that. Lori asks where Brandon was standing when he spoke with Officer Robb. He says they spoke in a lot of places. Lori asks if she tried to get him out of the crime scene area. He says he can’t say what she was trying to do.
11:51 a.m. Lori asks how he was careful and didn’t get cut by the glass. He says he can’t say – he was just careful and didn’t get cut. The big piece of glass fell outward away from the car. Lori asks if the glass that was on Brandon fell to the ground. He can’t say for certain.
11:50 a.m. Lori asking about the glass shards falling and asks if Brandon moved the window after it fell out. He says he didn’t touch it. Lori asks if Brandon walked to the end of the driveway. He can’t remember for certain, but he stayed on the phone with 911.
11:48 a.m. Brandon says once he pulled in the driveway, he put his keys up on the dashboard and didn’t move his car until the police were done. The details are hazy from that day, he says.
11:47 a.m. Lori now talks about where Brandon drove after he was shot at. Brandon says he drove the full loop around the neighborhood. Lori asks Brandon if he went into his garage. He did not. He says he got out of his car and stayed with 911 until the police arrived. Lori asks if his garage door was open or closed. He says it was open because his car automatically opened.
11:46 a.m. “You did not convey that maybe someone really didn’t shoot over here?” Lori says. Brandon responds that he was explaining to Pillar about what he said to the dispatcher.
11:44 a.m. Lori asks if kids were on the street playing paintball. He says no. He mentioned a paintball gun was possibly fired at him when he called 911. Lori says, “You conveyed to him that it was just kids being kids playing paintball.” Brandon says he did not believe that. He told the dispatcher that it might be a paintball gun and later told Pillar what he told the dispatcher.
11:42 a.m. Lori shows Brandon the transcript of his interview with the police. Brandon says he believes it’s a typo. He doesn’t recall ever telling the police that there was a little boy there. Lori asks if Brandon thought a boy might be there with a paintball gun. He says he doesn’t think kids were shooting a paintball gun.
11:40 a.m. Lori brings up Oct. 2. She says in his interview with Det. Pillar on that day, he mentions that Brandon saw a little boy. Treena objects based on foundation. Judge asks Lori to narrow it. She laughs and says, “sure.” Treena says, “Your honor, if she can just ask a question properly.” Judge says, “You could just ask whether he saw a little boy that day after the glass shattered.” Lori says ok and asks the question. Brandon says he did not see a little boy that day. Lori asks why he told Det. Pillar that. He says he doesn’t believe he told Pillar that.
11:38 a.m. Lori asks if Brandon was aware whether the Jeep at her household was a two-door or four-door vehicle. He says he didn’t think about how many doors the Jeep had.
11:36 a.m. Brandon worked with Charles to help get insurance on the vehicles. Lori asks if he knew the VIN numbers, makes and models of their vehicles. He had some of the information from Charles but didn’t know specifics.
11:34 a.m. When Pillar asked Brandon if he had ever seen the vehicle before, he says he could not recall. Lori asks what color he told the detective. Olive or puke. Lori asks if he had ever seen the Jeep at her household before Oct. 2. Brandon says he might have, he doesn’t remember for certain.
11:32 a.m. Judge tells Lori to move on. Lori asks Brandon how he thinks she convinced Melanie that he was gay. Lori asks about what Brandon told Pillar about the Jeep Wrangler. Brandon says, “It would be great if I could read it.” Hicks takes the transcript up to Brandon.
11:31 a.m. Pillar asks Brandon what evidence he had about Melanie thinking he was gay. Brandon said it was “silly evidence.” Treena objects. Judge sustains.
11:29 a.m. Lori asks Brandon about something he told Det. Pillar. He asks to see the transcript. She has her advisory counsel take it up to him.
11:28 a.m. Lori asks Brandon if he got information from Melanie that Lori convinced Melanie that he was gay. He says he didn’t get information directly from Lori. Lori brings up the video again and Treena objects. Judge sustains and says, “We aren’t talking about the video.”
11:27 a.m. Lori asks Brandon if he heard from her directly that she thought he was gay. He says he did not. He heard it from Charles.
11:25 a.m. Brandon looks at the transcript and Lori again asks where he got the information about Melanie thought he was gay. Brandon says Melanie told him on June 25, during their argument, that Melanie thought Brandon was gay. Lori asks Brandon about him telling the police that Lori convinced Melanie he was gay. Brandon says that information came from conversations he had with Charles Vallow.
11:23 a.m. Lori asks where Brandon where he got information that Melanie had answered Lori in a call that she needed to get a divorce. Lori refers to the transcript when he spoke with the detective. Brandon asks to look at it. It references Melanie thinking he was gay.
11:21 a.m. Lori asks Brandon a few things – about Melanie going to the temple and God answering her in a call. Lori’s question is hard to understand. Brandon asks her to clarify. Lori says, “She had her own personal revelation of an idea about you.” Brandon says he can’t say what Melanie was thinking.
11:20 a.m. Lori asks a question about contention in marriage. Brandon says he isn’t sure he understands the questions. She changes it up. He asks again for her to rephrase it. She says she will move on so she will be more clear. Lori asks about Brandon telling Pillar that Melanie was going to the temple all the time. Brandon says she went a lot.
11:18 a.m. Lori says yesterday, Brandon talked about the argument with Melanie on June 25. She asks if they had marital problems in the ten years. Treena objects. Judge will allow it briefly. Brandon asks what she means about marital problems. Lori asks if there was contention. He says if you have been married for ten years, there are definitely times you don’t agree. Lori asks if the fact Brandon traveled a lot was a course of contention. Treena objects. Judge sustains.
11:17 a.m. Jurors are being brought in. Brandon is back on the witness stand.
11:15 a.m. Beresky is on the bench. He says, “Ms. Daybell, if you continue to ask lines of questions where I have sustained an objection, if you continue to speak over me or the prosecutor when it’s not your turn to speak, I may be forced to revoke your pro per status.” Lori responds, “I understand, your honor, I apologize.”
11:14 a.m. Lori just walked back in. Her advisory attorneys are back at the table. Treena Kay is at the prosecutor’s table.
11 a.m. Lori just argued that if they bring in character, then she gets a 404 B hearing. Judge points at Lori and says, “STOP!” Lori begins to argue with the judge and tells the deputy to take her out, saying he doesn’t need to yell at her. He says he is not yelling at her. She begins to argue and he says, “Take her out! Take her out!” Lori is removed from the courtroom.
10:58 a.m. Judge says during the sidebar, he cautioned the defendant to be very careful because she’s going into places that she shouldn’t. Judge also says he warned her about saying statements like she’s a good person because she opens the door to bringing in prior convictions, etc. Treena says character evidence could come into play with this trial if Lori continues this.
10:57 a.m. Sidebar is over. Judge says we will take 15 minute morning recess. Jurors are excused.

10:51 a.m. Lori, Treena and judge are on headsets while white noise plays in the courtroom. Lori is passionately talking. We obviously cannot hear what is being said.
10:49 a.m. Brandon says he did think that Lori may have convinced Melanie that he was gay. Lori asks about a video of him dancing. Treena objects. Judge sustains. Lori asks Brandon how he thought Melanie convinced him that he was gay. Treena objects. Judge asks for a sidebar. White noise is played.
10:48 a.m. Lori asks if that refreshed his memory. He says a transcriber may have gotten it wrong because he would not refer to Lori as Melanie’s friend, she is her aunt. Lori asks about Brandon saying that Lori said he was gay. Brandon says he didn’t refer to Lori saying he was gay. Lori asks if he wants to read the transcript again. He says, “If you would like me to, I can read it again.”
10:47 a.m. Pamela Hicks walks the transcript up to Brandon. Lori asks him to read the page to himself and then she will ask him a question.
10:45 a.m. Lori asks Brandon about him telling Pillar that someone had told Melanie that he was gay. Robert Abernethy just walked in. Lori asks Brandon if he recalls telling Pillar that Melanie has a friend named Lori. He says he did not – he said she has an aunt named Lori. Lori asks Brandon if he wants to review the record to reflect his recollection. Brandon says sure.
10:44 a.m. Lori asks Brandon about meeting with Det. Ryan Pillar the day of the shooting. It’s the first time they met. Lori asks if he told Pillar all about Melanie. He says that’s a very broad question. Melanie was mentioned when he spoke with the police, so was Lori.
10:43 a.m. Lori goes through the events on the morning of Oct. 2. Brandon woke up the kids, took them to school, etc. Lori asks where Brandon went next. The gym. She asks the name of the gym and how long he worked out. Then he drove straight home.
10:39 a.m. Lori asks when Melanie moved into the rental house from their home. He believes he moved her on July 14. Lori asks how long Brandon stayed in their home. He says until it sold in September.
10:38 a.m. Brandon says at the end of the argument, Melanie say she needed a divorce. Lori asks who filed for divorce. Brandon says he filed in July. Lori asks the date. He says it’s complicated because he went to meet with a mediator and she didn’t file it for a while. Lori asks if he filed it with the court. He says a mediator did. Lori asks when he met with the mediator. She asks what date in July. He says they met several times. He and Melanie met with the mediator together.
10:37 a.m. Lori asks if he ever answered his text messages. “I never received a reply,” he responds. Lori asks if Brandon was blaming her for the argument. “I think the only people who can be responsible for ourselves is ourselves so I was focused on myself and my wife.” Lori says, “Ok.”
10:36 a.m. Lori asks if Melanie showed him a video. Treena objects again. Judge sustains. Lori asks what else they argued about. Treena objects based on relevance. Judge sustains. Lori asks how many topics were gone over during this long argument. Brandon says he can’t say.
10:34 a.m. Lori says Melanie viewed her like a mother so it wouldn’t be unsual that a mother was brought up during an argument. Brandon says he was focused on his family during the argument because he loved them. Lori asks about text messages Melanie told him about. Brandon says, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Lori asks about a video of Brandon dancing at the Pink Pony. Treena objects. Judge sustains.

10:33 a.m. Lori says multiple things were brought up during Brandon and Melanie’s argument. He says yes. She asks about her being brought up. She was – it was about her temple recommend and it was “bothersome.” Lori asks Brandon if, when he was trying to change the subject, Melanie brought it up. Brandon was trying to figure out why Melanie kept bringing it up.
10:32 a.m. Lori makes a statement about him wanting to have his wife by her side at the funeral. Judge says she’s making a statement – she needs to ask a question. Lori asks if Melanie was upset and crying during their argument. He says no, just him – he was crying.
10:31 a.m. Lori mentions Melanie not wanting to go to the funeral. She asks Brandon if he is aware that Melanie had trauma with all funerals because her mom passed away when she was young. Brandon says he’s not Melanie, he can’t say what she had an issue with or not. Lori asks if he is aware that her mom passed away when she was 9. He is aware. Treena objects based no relevance. Judge sustains. Lori asks the same question. Treena objects. Judge sustains.
10:30 a.m. Lori references the argument Brandon had with Melanie. She asks how long they argued. Several hours. She asks if he remembers that date because it’s the date he sent the text messages. He says that’s not the only reason he remembers that day – it was a painful day.
10:29 a.m. Lori continues to ask if they have had arguments in their lifetime. He asks if she is looking for something specific. He can’t recall a specific time where they argued face-to-face but believes there were disagreements. Lori asks if she is a confrontational person. Treena objects. Sustained.
10:27 a.m. Lori asks if there were times they were at her house and his house. Treena objects based on relevance. Judge calmly says, “Sustained.” Lori asks about the text message from June 25 and says, “until you sent me that text, we had never had a disagreement.” Brandon says he would not agree with that statement. Lori asks if they had ever had an argument. Brandon says they had disagreements.
10:26 a.m. Lori asks Brandon if she had been upset with her before that time. He says, “Ever?” She says yes. He says I’m human, I’m sure I was. Lori asks if he was upset with her about Juice Island. Treena objects. Lori says Brandon had mentioned earlier that Lori and Melanie were close. “You were aware that I loved Melanie?” He says he can’t say if he loved her or not. Lori asks if he witnessed that. Brandon says he can not say how Lori felt.
10:25 a.m. Lori is back at the lectern. “Brandon, you and I have never had an argument with each other, is that correct?” He says that’s not correct. She asks when they had an argument. Treena obejcts based on relevance. Judge overrules. Brandon says the most argument they had was when he texted her on June 25, 2019.
10:22 a.m. Lori says, “We always had a friendly relationship, is that correct?” He responds, “I wouldn’t say always.” Lori says he was at Brandon and Melanie’s wedding, she went to Utah to help when their first child was born. Treena objects for relevance. Judge allows the questioning to continue. Lori says, “I was there when your second child was born, correct?” Brandon says she was not there when their child was born – she came and visited with the family. Lori goes on to say she watched his kids, Treena objects. Judge sustains. Lori goes on to say she went on vacations with Brandon, Treena objects. Judge tells Lori to move on to relevant information. Lori starts to argue with the judge. He tells her to approach with counsel.
10:20 a.m. Lori approaches the podium. She says when Abernethy gets here, he has some photos for her. She asks if she can pause when he arrives. Judge says ok. Lori starts, “Mr. Boudreaux, you and I met in 2009, is that correct?” He says, “I believe we met in 2008.” Lori says, “You got married in 2009, correct?” He replies, “I got married in 2008.”
10:19 a.m. Lori has no questions. Jury has no questions. Witness is excused. Judge explains we will now have Brandon Boudreaux’s cross-examination.
10:16 a.m. Video is shown on the sceren. The beginning shows a black vehicle. Within seconds, we heard a loud bang/explosion sound. Treena has no further questions.
10:15 a.m. An officer went to Lynette’s house on Oct. 2 and asked if she had footage. She did and emailed the video to the department. Treena moves to admit the video as evidence.
10:14 a.m. Lynette had a Ring doorbell camera on her house that was motion activated. She says it went off all the time. When vehicles drove by, it started to record.
10:13 a.m. Video is streaming here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyodc_Xqsxk

10:11 a.m. Lynette lived in Gilbert on Fairview Street on Oct. 2, 2019. Treena shows Lynette a map of the neighborhood. It’s admitted into evidence. Fairview Street is directly behind Phelps Street, where Brandon lived.
10:10 a.m. Next witness is Lynette Mendoza.
10:08 a.m. Treena has nothing further. No questions from the jury.
10:07 a.m. Treena asks if he was surprised they didn’t find a casing. He says no. They still look for them, but since the gun was fired from inside a vehicle, it was likely inside the vehicle (like in a drive-by shooting). They searched and no casings were found.
10:06 a.m. Treena asks if a person firing a rifle from the back of a Jeep pointed out the window, where would the casing land? Frerer says more than likely, it would still be in the Jeep.
10:05 a.m. Treena asks Frerer to explain the difference between a casing, fragments and a bullet. The casing holds the bullet. Once a bullet is fired from a gun, it comes out very, very hot. When it hits a certain item, the bullet is compromised and makes fragments – it falls apart. In this case, they found fragments of the actual bullet.
10:03 a.m. Treena talks about the seal around the Tesla and how fragments could fall out when the glass fell down. Treena asks questions about the size of the hole and if it determines the size of the bullet.
10:01 a.m. Lori has no further questions. Treena will now re-direct. She asks if he noted damage to the molding on the Tesla around the window area. He did. We see a photo of the Tesla on the screen.
10 a.m. Lori asks if he found camera footage from neighbors. He says he believes there was camera footage but he never collected any. Lori asks if he’s ever seen camera footage. He has not. His involvement with the case ended on Dec. 23 when he searched the F150.
9:59 a.m. Lori asks about the copper cover on the bullet. “That’s just from a visual, not the testing of the copper?” He says that’s correct. Lori asks if the color could have been from the Tesla. He says he didn’t see any copper on the Tesla.
9:57 a.m. Lori: “Just so I understand. The bullet falls apart, correct?” He says yes. She asks about the amount of the bullet that was in the door versus the amount that fell out. She asks if the car had not been in motion, the bullet should have been in tact, correct? He says no. When a bullet hits a solid object, bullets have different properties so some break apart, some go straight through, it depends on the make and model of the bullet. Lori asks about testing done on this bullet. He says it was a projectile and no testing was done.
9:55 a.m. Lori says the majority of the bullet was never collected, is that correct? He says they had a projectile – fragments of the bullet. Lori asks how if the bullet could have fallen out of the vehicle and wants him to explain it to her. He says a vehicle is not sealed. When it’s in motion or goes over bumps, there’s a chance a projectile could fall or get moved.
9:54 a.m. Lori asks about the hole in the Tesla and if it could be a bullet from a rifle or a handgun. He says yes. She asks if the hole was tested to determine what type of gun it came from. He says he did not test it. Lori asks if he canvassed the area for other evidence. He says he was one of many.
9:53 a.m. Lori asks the detective if he discovered what Alex’s license plate stood for. He did not. Lori asks if he learned that Alex did stand-up comedy. Detective says no.
9:52 a.m. Lori begins by asking him what evidence Frerer collected. He said the projectiles. Lori asks if a cigarette was collected at the scene. Frerer doesn’t recall. Lori asks about the items he collected in the Ford 150. Earplugs and the practice bullet. Lori asks if during his investigation he learned that Alex frequented shooting ranges. He says he did not learn that.
9:50 a.m. Gilbert Det. David Frerer is back on the stand. Lori will continue cross-examining him. If you missed his testimony yesterday, you can find it here.

9:49 a.m. Judge goes over schedule. Gilbert detective will finish his testimony, then another witness who has Ring camera footage will testify, then Lori will cross Brandon.
9:47 a.m. Judge agrees and thought, “Wow. She’s opening a big door here” when Lori mentioned those things. He says the state is right and she began to testify. Judge asks Lori if she understands. Lori says she does. “I also understand the state withdrew their 404B.” Judge says, “That doesn’t mean you can say whatever you want!” Lori responds, “I wasn’t saying that!” Judge says if Lori talks about her good character, the state can talk about her character going forward.
9:44 a.m. Beresky just walked in and is on the bench. “Ms. Hicks, do you have anything to say.” Hicks says things were emailed to her last night and she was unable to do so. “So staff or someone can’t do that? You are expected to be here at 9:30.” Hicks, “Ok.” Treena Kay now wants to go on the record. She has issues that Lori, during her opening statement, told the jury yesterday that she said she was a very loving and peaceful person. Treena says this violates the rules and she has now opened the door so Treena can bring up the fact she is a convicted felon four times over. Lori also brought in the fact that Brandon hired a private investigator. Treena says if Lori goes down this road, she plans to bring up the fact that she killed her children, her husband and her current husband’s wife.
9:44 a.m. Hicks just walked into the courtroom. Brandon and Jenny Boudreaux are in the courtroom. Kay Woodcock is also here and many of Brandon’s family and friends are here too.
9:39 a.m. Judge Beresky is on the bench. He says Robert Abernethy, Lori’s attorney, said he would be late today due to a childcare issue. Today at 9:20 a.m., Pamela Hicks, the other advisory attorney, sent an email to the court saying she was making copies at her office. Judge says this is “wholly unacceptable. Ms. Daybell, you represent yourself. You do not need your advisory counsel here. I will split the difference with you. If she is not here at 9:50 a.m., we are going to start. She should have been here at 9:30. If this was federal court, she would probably be taken into custody. This is ridiculous.” Judge leaves the bench, Lori walks out.
9:38 a.m. Lori just walked into the courtroom wearing a light gray pantsuit and turquoise top. Her advisory attorneys are not here yet.
9:33 a.m. Prosecutor Treena Kay is in the courtroom with her paralegal and Det. Pillar. No sign of anyone from the defense team.
9:12 a.m. Back in the courtroom. Light numbers today. Only four people on the media row. Around 20 members of the public. Judge’s assistant came out into the lobby and asked if any family members are here for the defense. Nobody is. Nobody has shown up for the defense in any of the Arizona or Idaho trials.

I don't know if I ever heard of a deal with Mel P/B but again if there is one, not sure she fulfilled it.

It has been said she won't be testifying, can recall who said it, thinking it likely was Nate.

They married the same time and trip yes.

This is majorly delayed today and they wanted to start early so what is going on?

I will never understand why Brandon lets her have the kids.
She will just watch some trial testimony and get out of it again.

Why doesn't Lori take this opportunity to outright ask him if he is gay?

There is a 15 minute break where they are discussing if she keeps talking about character then that could open the door to the P bringing up all the prior murders.

There is a lunch break ATM but i thought this bit was interesting about a third party defence. They mention that Melanie is still an active ongoing investigation ????..

"Treena says the defendant has never raised a third-party defense. Treena says the Melanie case is an active investigation that is still ongoing. Treena says in terms of opening the door, there is an open investigation into Melanie Boudreaux and the text messages might relate to that case, the Tammy Daybell case and the Charles Vallow case."

So WTH is that all about?

Wow well lets not complain, maybe Ms. Mel will be charged yet and perhaps not the only one who knows....

I gave up waiting on this today and was wiped so I laid down and apparently I missed when it finally did have things going on. I left t on I thought so I would hear it if it started but never hears a thing. doing that sometimes works, other times doesn't or the feed shuts down or something. No idea. I wake up and apparently trial did go on. Reading some chats and listening to some to get a clue of what I missed.

I just tried to reply to a post with this answer but gave up, don't know what the trouble is with that lately, so just doing a stand alone post.

So she was questioning Brandon today the way it sounded to me elsewhere??

Friday 6th June, afternoon.

4:29 p.m. Join me tonight for “Courtroom Insider” at 8 p.m. MT on the East Idaho News YouTube channel.
4:28 p.m. Treena asks about collecting fingerprints. He has done that before. Graphite powder, dust it on the surface, the graphite powder will show where fingerprints are. You use clear tape, pick it up, and place it on a white piece of cardboard-type paper. We are now recessing for the weekend.
4:27 p.m. That process was used in the Jeep because someone was inside the vehicle when the gun was fired. DNA was also collected from the Jeep. Similar process as collecting GSR. Long q-tips were used.
4:25 p.m. Pillar has collected GSR before – gunshot residue. He wears protective gloves to collect it. There is a control file and sample file. The control file is not open – it’s next to the sample file. That’s to give the lab a controlled example of the same type of material that has not been used. The samlpe file has an adhesive that is pressed against the area where you believe the gunshot residue is.
4:24 p.m. Pillar went to Rexburg to process the Jeep for DNA, evidence, gunshot residue, etc.
4:23 p.m. Pillar worked with Det. McDermott to try and seize the Jeep that was in Idaho. On Nov. 4, 2019, Pillar learned that Rexburg Police Det. Hermosillo impounded the Jeep.
4:22 p.m. The license plate reader caught the Jeep on I-40 headed to Phoenix 26 hours before the shooting of Brandon Boudreaux. A camera took a photo of the plate. There was no wheel affixed to the back of the Jeep Wrangler in the photo.
4:21 p.m. Pillar learned in October that Melanie was moving to Idaho. He also learned Lori and Alex had moved to Idaho.
4:20 p.m. Pillar gives his cell phone numbers to victims. He tells them to reach out to him so they can be in touch and be reachable. He gave his number to Brandon.
4:18 p.m. Pillar reached out to Chandler after Brandon told him about the July incident. He learned Lori had a 2018 Jeep Wrangler in her garage on July 11, 2019. Photos had been taken and he was provided photos of the Jeep. Police ran the license plate and VIN number.
4:15 p.m. Pillar asked Brandon for his phone. He also took the Tesla to the Gilbert Police evidence area. They left the home around 4:30 p.m. They looked through the Tesla for any other evidence or fragments. Nothing else was found. The vehicle was then turned over to Brandon.
4:15 p.m. Pillar was not surprised they didn’t find anything, but was disappointed. Officers spoke with residents to see if they had cameras that may have captured anything. There was no video surveillance of the street area on Phelps Street.
4:13 p.m. Police thoroughly searched for glass or fragments in the area where Brandon turned around to go home. They did a line search on the street and nearby streets. A metal detector was brought in but no other fragments were found.
4:12 p.m. Police search elsewhere to see if any other fragments from the bullets could be found. They searched on the road. Fourteen detectives came and canvassed the road and area where the Jeep went.
4:10 p.m. Pillar also saw the glass panel on the driveway that had fallen out from the window.
4:09 p.m. An extensive period of time was focused on the bullet hole. Pillar noticed the molding had been damaged as a result of the projectile.
4:08 p.m. Brandon told Pillar he believed it was a rifle and a suppressor/silencer was on the end of the gun. Brandon only saw the barrel of the rifle.
4:07 p.m. Treena asks if they expected to find a shell casing. He says they did not as Brandon told him a weapon was fired out the back window of the Jeep and the casing likely fell out into the vehicle – not on the scene.
4:05 p.m. Brandon told Pillar where the Jeep was parked, what state the license plate was from, what happened before the shooting, etc. Nothing was different than what Pillar had been told during the briefing. Pillar spoke with Brandon about the cameras on the Tesla. This was a 2016 Tesla Model X. Pillar tried to recover video from the Tesla, but it could not be obtained because there was not a storage device installed within in. Tesla was contacted directly and the video was not saved.
4:03 p.m. Pillar asked Brandon for his identification information. He spoke with him about who he thought might want to kill him. He provided the names of Lori Vallow and Alex Cox. Brandon told Pillar about an incident that occurred in July 2019.
4:02 p.m. Brandon identified himself and Pillar asked his friends if they were there during the shooting. They were not. Brandon agreed to speak with Pillar privately. They went into his police car and his friends waited outside.
4 p.m. When he arrived, three men were sitting on the north side of the street. It was a warm day. He didn’t know who was who and walked over to introduce himself.
3:59 p.m. Treena asks if he was wearing a body camera. He did not. They weren’t used as much as they are now. He did use a digital recorder to record the interview.
3:58 p.m. Pillar had been told that Officer Robb did a brief interview of Brandon. That is normal. As the case agent, he then did a more thorough interview with Brandon.
3:57 p.m. Pillar’s role on the scene was to be the lead detective. He was to interview the victims and oversee the entire investigation. Det. McDermott would assist with operating the crime scene management. Two other detectives were assigned to assist him with investigating the scene and collecting physical evidence.
3:56 p.m. Pillar noted small shards of glass along the edge of the door and some inside the car. Treena shows a photo of the orange cones in the street. Those were location markers showing where glass had been found in the road.
3:55 p.m. The cleanliness of the area is indicative of a fast-moving projectile, Pillar says.
3:54 p.m. Pillar has seen vehicles that have been shot. Treena shows a close up of the bullet hole on the Tesla. Pillar says the bullet hole was consistent with other bullet holes he has seen in other vehicles.
3:53 p.m. Pillar went and looked at the Tesla. The front driver side door was open, along with the side back driver side door. Glass was on the driveway and in the landscaping. Treena displays a photo of the Tesla on the screen.
3:51 p.m. Pillar arrived and parked near the address. Crime scene tape was set up and there were cones in the road. Pillar and three other detectives were the first four on scene.
3:50 p.m. Treena asks about Oct. 2, 2019. He was called to the home on Pearl Street. He remembers he was in a meeting with the Violent Crime Unit when a sergeant came in and said there was an active shooting investigation. Piller and other detectives went to the scene.
3:49 p.m. Pillar shares his background and how he was trained on processing crime scenes.
3:46 p.m. Next witness is Gilbert Det. Ryan Pillar. He has worked for the department since 2007.
3:45 p.m. Olszak was able to determine two phone numbers had connected to the infotainment system. There were call logs from Nov. and Dec. 2019. Calls were made to Lori, an Idaho number and another Arizona number. The Ford contained GPS coordinates from Dec. 2019. There were no GPS coordinates from October 2019. Treen has no further questions. Lori has no questions. Jury has no questions. Witness is excused.
3:44 p.m. Olszak was able to get phone data and other information from the Ford pickup truck. Olszak was not able to locate any data from October 2019.
3:42 p.m. Olszak removed the infotainment system apart carefully. Treena asks if it’s basically like a hard drive. He says it’s similar. He took the system back to Arizona. When he got back, he was not able to access any user data from the Jeep. On Jan. 2, 2020, Olszak was asked to remove the infotainment system from Alex’s truck.
3:40 p.m. Olszak went with Pillar to Rexburg in Nov. 2019 to look at the Jeep in Rexburg. When he got inside the vehicle, he needed to call the infotainment system company to see how to get access to the system. They said it was a lower end model and might not be possible.
3:38 p.m. Treena asks if Gilbert Police reached out to him in Nov. 2019 about removing an infotainment system from a Jeep Wrangler. They did. Treena asks if the better the car, the better the infotainment system. He says most likely.
3:35 p.m. In Nov. 2019, Olszak worked in digital forensics for the Department of Public Safety. Treena asks what an infotainment system is. It’s a central system in vehicles between the driver and passenger seat. It has a display for navigation, applications and you can connect your phone to it.
3:34 p.m. Next witness is Tom Olszak – a retired state trooper from the Department of Public Safety. He currently works as a forensic analyst for the Secret Service.
3:33 p.m. Jurors have no questions. Witness is excused.
3:31 p.m. Treena asks if it would be fair to say a lot of data was sent from Apple to him. There was. Thousands and thousands of pages. He says correct. He went through all of it to find information that was relevant. Treena has no other questions.
3:29 p.m. Treena asks if Cellebrite is used by police department and other agencies across the country. It is.
3:29 p.m. Treena asks if AT&T keeps records of when calls are made and when they are received. They do. The companies keep cell phone tower data, when people message, etc.
3:28 p.m. Lori has no further questions. Treena will now re-direct. She asks about the process of getting a search warrant.
3:26 p.m. Lori asks Duncan if he made a report on the lollytime account. He says he has a very lengthy report that he wrote about his interpretation of the iCloud. He did.
3:25 p.m. Lori asks how much time he spent reviewing the iCloud. He estimates hundreds of hours. She asks how much time he spent reviewing the AT&T. He says not as much as there was not as much information as the iCloud.
3:22 p.m. Duncan says some carriers preserve text messages longer than others. You can request a preservation from cell phone companies for an upcoming warrant and they may save them. But in the past, messages could be gone. Lori asks if he knows how long AT&T preserves messages. He does not know.
3:20 p.m. Lori asks if text messages were deleted, he would not know they were deleted because they would not be sent to him. He says that is a possibility.
3:19 p.m. Lori asks what call detail records Duncan requested. He said he would need to refer to the search warrant. Lori asks what he was looking for. He says any call records during the timeframe to determine who Lori was communicating with. Lori asks how he can verify all the information that comes from AT&T it all the information from the phone. He puts trust in AT&T that they will send it.
3:17 p.m. Lori asks why they sent the information to him rather than the detectives who were going to analyze it. It’s because he wrote the warrant. Lori asks who he then sent the information to. He believes it may have been a Det. Hunsaker, but it could have been someone else.
3:16 p.m. Lori asks how Duncan knows that all the information from Apple ends up in the Cellebrite report. He says she would need to ask the detective who did it. She says the detective could just pull whatever information he wants and put it on. He says that could happen, but he’s never seen it.
3:15 p.m. Lori asks how many emails were sent to him from Apple. He doesn’t recall. She asks if he can look it up. He says he could but is not sure how long his emails are saved.
3:13 p.m. Treena has no further questions for Duncan. Lori will now cross-examine. She begins by asking about the search warrant for Apple and how they return the warrant. He says they can return it through a portal or email. Sometimes they have to send a hard drive (when the files are too big). The lollytime search warrant was returned via email.
3:11 p.m. Treena moves to admit an exhibit showing phone and data records from AT&T relating to the phone.
3:10 p.m. Treena asks Duncan if he found romantic text messages on Lori’s iCloud. He did. He also discovered a recording of Chad Daybell using a phone number associated with Lori’s account.
3:08 p.m. Lori got an email for her to sign the lease agreement for her rental in Idaho.
3:07 p.m. A receipt was sent to Lori from the hotel in Rexburg on Aug. 25. On Aug. 26, she got a receipt thanking her for her payment. She got another email on Oct. 1 from the property thanking her for the payment.

3:05 p.m. Treena shows exhibits on the screen. They show emails relating to Lori’s move to Rexburg. She emailed someone about the Pioneer Road property. There was also an email from Hampton in Rexburg on August 15, 2019.
3:03 p.m. Back in the courtroom. Jurors are in their seats. Treena asks Duncan if he wrote a search warrant to obtain records from the lollytime account. He says Apple has a portal and he sent the warrant through the portal. Apple then returned the records through an email. Analysts then used Cellebrite to organize emails, text messages and other data on the phone.

2:44 p.m. Duncan found emails indicating that Lori moved to Rexburg. One showed her looking at a townhome in Pioneer Road and one showed payment for the unit. Treena moves to admit exhibits. We are going into recess for 15 minutes.

2:43 p.m. Treena asks Duncan if he learned Alex and Lori moved to Rexburg. He did. He also obtained a search warrant for the lollytime iCloud account.
2:41 p.m. Treena moves to admit. Lori objects based on foundation. Judge overrules. We see the text messages. It’s the message Brandon sent about Lori accusing him of trying to have her temple recommend taken away. These are the same text messages read into court yesterday.
2:39 p.m. Duncan recalls seeing text messages from Brandon to Lori on June 25, 2019, in her iCloud account. The records indicated the messages were read.
2:38 p.m. This is the Lori4Style iCloud account. We see text messages on the screen. Alex texts Lori asking for her new address. A little later, he clarifies that he means email address. On March 10, 2019. Lori gets a Lollytimeforever Gmail account.
2:35 p.m. Treena asks if Duncan looked through Lori’s iCloud records. He found SMS messages between Lori and Alex. She asks if he ever saw messages of Lori providing her brother with a Gmail account address. Duncan did. Treena moves to admit two exhibits. Lori objects to relevance. Judge lets it in.
2:34 p.m. Duncan learned Alex and Lori’s cell phone numbers at the Chandler home. Treena asks Duncan if ever obtained a search warrant for an iCloud account associated to Lori Vallow. He did. In examining the content of the iCloud, he located photos, video, text messages and emails linking the defendant to the defendant.
2:33 p.m. Alex was at the residence. He had a pickup truck at the house. Treena moves to admit photos of the truck. We see it parked in the driveway.
2:32 p.m. In one photo, you can see the seatback through the rear window. Treena points out a sticker on the front windshield in the corner. She shows different photos and views of the Jeep in the garage.
2:31 p.m. Treena Kay shows several photos of the Jeep, including a close-up of the license plate on the vehicle. It’s a Texas plate.
2:30 p.m. The exhibits are admitted. We now see a photo of a Jeep Wrangler parked inside the garage.
2:24 p.m. Treena moves to admit photos of the Jeep. Lori objects and asks for a sidebar. Headphones go on, white noise is played.
2:22 p.m. Treena asks if photos were taken at the residence that day. There were. She asks if a 2018 Jeep Wrangler was at Lori’s home. There was.
2:21 p.m. Duncan has worked for Chandler Police for 25 years. Treena asks about an “incident” that occurred on July 11, 2019, involving Lori and Alex.
2:19 p.m. Next witness is Chandler Det. Nathan Duncan. He was the case agent in Charles Vallow’s trial.
2:18 p.m. On Oc. 2, 2019, Brandon told Pillar that he believed Alex and Lori were responsible for shooting at him. This was before he knew VIN numbers or anything else. Even if Melanie had a financial benefit, Brandon says that did not change who shot at him. Treena is done. Jurors have no questions

2:17 p.m. Treena asks Brandon if he knew Det. Pillar before this. No, he met him Oct. 2. He was the assigned case agent so that’s the person he was supposed to communicate with about this case. Treena asks if all his communication with Pillar were not just about this case. That’s correct. Treena asks if some of the communcation was in relation to a completely separate investigation. Brandon says that’s correct.
2:15 p.m. Brandon says he wishes he would have seen the driver and wishes his Tesla camera worked. “I wish a lot of things.” Treena asks is when he was given a VIN number, he gets a visual on a car. He says no, it’s just a number to identify cars.
2:13 p.m. Treena asks about Brandon getting back to his driveway and being on the phone with 911. “Were you thinking about, oh no, if the door opens, the glass might fall out?” He says he was not thinking about that – he was trying to give the dispatcher information. When he opened the door, he was surprised how it fell.
2:11 p.m. Once he saw a bullet hole in his car, he knew it wasn’t a paintball gun. Treena asked why he called 911. “Because I believe in following the law.” Treena asks if he thought he had been shot at. He did. When he saw the bullet hole and no paint, “it’s a really scary thought because up until then, I think you want to feel safe. My window was broken, I didn’t see a bullet hole and I was trying to think of something to make myself feel safer.”
2:10 p.m. Brandon remembers that a rifle barrel was pointed out of a window and pointed at him. “I’m certain that happened.” Treena asks about the kids Lori brought up. She asks if, when he was talking to the 911 operator, he mentioned that someone may have been using a paintball gun. He says yes.
2:09 p.m. Treena asks Brandon if he tried to memorize the transcript of his interview with Det. Pillar. Treena says when they met, he listened to the interview. Treena asks if he has a problem remembering the events of the date. He says it’s important to be thorough. Treena asks Brandon what the Jeep looked like. It was a two-door, puke green Jeep Wrangler without a tire on the back.
2:08 p.m. Brandon says during the argument, Melanie said she wanted to end their marriage. Prior to this date, there was no thought in his mind that his marriage would end. Brandon says Lori Vallow was involved in causing his divorce.
2:07 p.m. Treena asks if the argument was about their marriage. It was. There were many reasons – including Lori Vallow accusing him of hacking into her computer and the allegations that Brandon was trying to get Lori’s temple recommend getting taken away.
2:06 p.m. Treena approaches the podium. She starts by asking him about June 25 and asks why that date stuck in his mind. He says it was a painful day. “My grandfather was someone who was really important to me and I was dealing with a sudden loss that was traumatic. I was dealing with that and my family is the most important thing in this world to me so the dissolving of my family was probably one of the most painful things I’ve gone through as a person. That day was the start of the dissolving of my family.”
2:05 p.m. Lori asked if Brandon was trying to get police to charge Melanie with his murder. Treena objects. Sustained. Lori has no more questions. Treena will now re-direct.
2:04 p.m. Lori is saying that his rental house was only 10 hours away from his prior house. He says he’s never counted how many houses, but it’s a short distance. Lori asks how long they lived in the previous house. Treena objects based on relevance. Sustained.
2:03 p.m. Lori asks if it was a crowded street and people parked on the street. He says he can’t testify to that. Lori asked about him previously living in the neighborhood. He lived in a nearby section, but not the same section.
2:01 p.m. Lori asks if Brandon saw anyone else in the neighborhood when he turned onto his street. He didn’t notice anyone. Lori asks how many cars were parked on Phelps Street that morning. There were two that he noticed, but he couldn’t say how many other cars were parked on the street.
2:01 p.m. Lori asks if Brandon spoke to Melanie before school. He says they only communicated through text. He texted her to let her know he was dropping the kids off. He met her at the park to drop off their youngest child.
2 p.m. Lori asks what day of the week was Oct. 2. Brandon believes it would have been a Wednesday based on their parenting schedule.
1:58 p.m. Lori asks if Melanie told him that she was going to be out of town the weekend before Oct. 2. She did. Lori asks if this was the first time they activated the mediation agreement when the kids came to his new house. Brandon says they followed the mediation agreement throughout the summer, but that was the first time the kids came to his new house.
1:57 p.m. Lori asks questions about Brandon turning his phone over to Det. Pillar. Lori asks if while the police had his phone, he bought another one. He did not. He waited for it to be returned to him.
1:55 p.m. Lori asks if Brandon knew of Alex being an avid shooter. He says he knew Alex liked to shoot. Lori asks if he knew Alex went to the range a lot. He says he can’t testify to that. Lori asks if Brandon ever went to the gun range with Alex. He did not. Lori asks if Brandon ever went to the gun range with her brothers or sisters. He doesn’t recall. Lori asks if he ever went to the gun range. Treena objects on relevance.
1:53 p.m. Lori asked if after Oct. 2, did Brandon ever look up the VIN number to the Jeep that was in her household. He doesn’t think he did. Lori asked if he provided the VIN number to Det. Pillar. He says he did, likely on Oct. 2.
1:52 p.m. Lori asks when he changed his mind from puke green to gray. He says he didn’t change his mind – he says puke green and grey are very similar or the same. Lori asks if Brandon had access to the VIN number, would it give him the color of the car. He says he never looked up the VIN number to determine the color.
1:50 p.m. Lori asks at what point Brandon decided the Jeep was gray and not puke green or camo green. Brandon says he’s unsure what Lori is asking. Lori asks Brandon if he told the Gilbert Police Dept. that it was a gray Jeep. He says he referred to several different colors while talking with police. Lori asks if he got the information from the VIN number that it was a gray Jeep. He says he did not.
1:49 p.m. Lori asks if he turned his car over to the police. He did and had it back by the end of October. Lori asks if it was in tact when he got it back. He says it looked the same to him. Then he sent it out to get repaired. She asks how long it took them to repair the car. He can’t recall. Lori asks if he had to have a rental car. He says he borrowed a friend’s car.
1:48 p.m. Lori asks if he sent the photos to anyone. He says he may have, but doesn’t remember. Lori asks if he sent a photo of his car to his dad. He says he could have. Lori asks if Brandon took photos of his car to his friends. Treena objects. Judge sustains. Lori asks how long after he sold the Tesla. Brandon says after the police were done, he got it fixed at the dealership and then he listed it. Lori asks if the dealership had to replace the whole door. He doesn’t know all they had to do – he just paid for it.
1:47 p.m. Lori asked if, any time after the alleged shooting, Brandon took any photos of the Tesla. He said before he sold the car, he took photos. Lori asks if he took photos of the car showing the window missing. He says at some point, he took a photo of the car with it missing a window.
1:46 p.m. Lori asks Brandon if he saw the plate number. He did not. Lori says, “You had your phone in your hand, did you not?” Brandon asks for more clarity. He says his phone was connected to his speakers. Lori asks if Brandon took a photo of the Jeep or license plate when it passed. He did not.
1:45 p.m. Lori asks if Brandon has seen Alex Cox before. He has. Lori says she would recognize him if he saw Alex. He says he would recognize him, but he didn’t see who was driving the Jeep.
1:44 p.m. Lori asks about the Jeep being nose-to-nose with the white van and asks how close that is. He says they were basically touching. Lori asks while Brandon was going straight, the Jeep passed him. He says he went around the corner, parked, and then the Jeep went past him and down the other way. Lori asked if when the Jeep passed him, he looked over. He says he saw the Jeep in his rearview mirror but could not identify the driver.
1:43 p.m. Lori says Brandon mentioned in his testimony about his Tesla having a camera. He says he doesn’t think he mentioned it, but Teslas do have cameras. Lori asks if his camera footage was retrieved. He says the model he had did not save the recordings.
1:42 p.m. Lori asks if he reviewed documents with the prosecutor. He says they did. She asks what documents they reviewed in preparation for his testimony. He says his 911 call and the conversation he had with Det. Pillar.
1:40 p.m. Lori asks Brandon if he provided other financial documentation to Pillar. Brandon asks when. Lori says any time. Treena objects. Judge sustains. Lori asks Brandon if he met with the prosecutor in preparation for this testimony. He says yes. She asks when. He says a few weeks ago two different times. Lori asks how long each time. First time was a couple hours, second time was a couple hours.
1:39 p.m. Lori asks if Brandon provided a copy of their mediation agreement to Det. Pillar. He did. Lori asks who the beneficiary was on his life insurance policy on Oct. 2. It was Melanie Boudreaux. He says it was not changeable unless both parties agree to it. Lori asks when he provided it to Pillar. He can’t recall.
1:38 p.m. Sidebar is over. Lori approaches the podium. She asks if Brandon provided more than one life insurance policy to Det. Pillar. He says no. Lori asks if Melanie had a life insurance policy. Not that he knew of.
1:29 p.m. Still in sidebar.
1:22 p.m. Judge asks for a sidebar. White noise comes up as Lori, Treena and judge put on their headphones.
1:20 p.m. Lori asks if Brandon provided screenshots to Det. Pillar. Brandon says he gave Pillar his phone so he would have had anything from his phone. Lori asks if he provided six screenshots in February 2020 to Pillar to show financial gain for Melanie. Brandon doesn’t recall exactly what he gave to Pillar that month. Lori asks if he wants to look at some documents to refresh his memory.
1:18 p.m. Brandon says he definitely spoke to Pillar about Melanie getting a financial gain if he died. Lori asks Brandon to read an email that he sent to Pillar. Pillar asked Brandon if he could provide any documentation that shows Melanie would have a financial gain if he died on Oct. 2.
1:17 p.m. Lori asks if he provided Melanie’s rental agreement. He says he did. Lori asks if he gave documentation showing their shared accounts. Brandon says if Pillar asked for it, then he provided it.
1:15 p.m. Lori asks Brandon if, in Februrary 2020, did Det. Pillar ask him to provide documentation that proved Melanie would have a financial gain if he died? Brandon says yes. He provided documentation to Pillar. Lori asks what the documents were. Brandon provided him with a life insurance policy. Lori asks what else. He doesn’t think there is anything else.
1:13 p.m. Lori is writing down the question. Jurors are brought in. Lori will continue her cross.
1:11 p.m. Judge is back on the bench. In relation to the email Lori wants to ask Brandon about, judge tells her the specific question she can ask. And the state can follow up with another specific question. Beresky says Lori has opened the door to an extent and the state can ask about communication Brandon had with Pillar about another case (referring to Melanie’s).
Back at 1:15pm

Lori really screwed up with her cross examination of Brandon. None of it was relevant, nor did it make a lick of sense. And the prosecution should be able to bring up her past deeds since she thinks she can tell the jury what a great person she is.

And she got kicked out of the courtroom.

She did a much better job at the last trial. I’m kind of glad she’s screwing up because this is great that she’s going down in flames.

I tnink she is pushing it to the limit as she knows it isn't going to make a lot of difference to her sentence. She is already in for four murders so what's one more attempted? I do think that the whole thing including MBP's involvement/deal/ whatever should be brought to light though. It seems we are only hearing half the story.

So the attempt on Brandon was revenge against him for the attempts to get the temple recommend for Lori withdrawn? I thought that was Adam and Charles doing that? Was Brandon involved too?

He was getting in her way. She feels that he deserved what he got and even more. That’s how her brain thinks and she thinks we should all agree with her. The evil part of her is really showing this time. How dare Brandon try to make Melanie go to a funeral when she was traumatized by her mother‘s funeral at age 9? Brandon is the evil one in her mind.

Yeah, hard to know what to think. She tried to testify in the last trial to in different ways but she would get warned or talk to advisory counsel and often eventually backed off. What is UP with her advisory counsel AND her PI? What the heck is going on? Counsel was late, PI supposedly had Brandon's file and so on.

I almost think she doesn't care if she blows it wide open and Treena can bring in the murders and she'll go nuts thinking she can address them all too.

I honestly think she might just not care. It isn't total control but it may be a last form of it to her, creating chaos as she has been doing lately...

Not sure.

When she told the judge not to yell at her, he hadn't been, she is such a witch. Then she said she always treats him with respect and he said she never has basically. I so agree with him but in the same breath he is somewhat letting her under his skin. They are sick to death of her b.s. She whines about things SHE CAUSED. It's so sickening.

I don't know if I've know of a longer, more convoluted, evil case with someone so sickening that keeps causing such issues for the families and all, the courts, you name it. I'm sure there are some other but right now I sure can't come up with one like this. It just never ends with her.

This isn't supposed to be a very long case, let's hope, I guess unless it blows wide open.

I'm happy the judge told her off but I do worry he will let her get too much under the skin. He's been superiorly great and patient but everyone has their limit. I want him to set her in her case and make her proceed but to be careful about it. I guess there is a lot of a record showing he has been though. And that it is HER. He knows better than we do I guess. Treena I think has had it with her too.

I was reading something that mentioned another case where the perp represented himself and was real obnoxious. I can't remember who it was now. Ah was it Warren Jeffs? Anyone familiar with it?

There are a lot of hints it was all three, however, Brandon seems a bit more outside it and not as involved, hard to say BUT he sure knew Lori was messing his marriage and I think after Charles died, things changed a lot. He was majorly worried and that hs been talked of a lot. They call it just an incident on that date in this trial but if Lori opens the door....

She doesn't have anything to lose and that's surely part of it probably.

It's at least good that Mel and Chad are being brought up as conspirators here, especially Mel, it at least lets the public know. And now it's been said Mel is still being investigated and that's good too and not just for THIS one.

I of course am 100 percent on Brandon's side but I will never him understand not fighting to keep her away from the kids. Not one thing changed about her. She's as dangerous as Lori imo. Maybe right now she wouldn't be dumb enough to make a move with all under a microscope but she has no real feelings imo. She let her own kids be labeled dark and more than went along. And her husband.

I wouldn't let my kids near that woman if I had young kids not even for a play date. They'd have to jail me to make me, even then I'd yell.

I myself doubt Lori gave one whit about Mel's mom dying nor her being told to go to a funeral. She was bent on destroying that marriage and getting the money. tht

We know I think that Brandon, Charles and Adam were all talking and Lori or they I think knew it too. She wanted Brandon dead and to destroy his marriage. She wanted Charles dead. Whether Brandon was part of the temple thing hard to say, he denies it and not sure if he was as involved as Charles and Adam in such talks. Lori probably thought so though, who knows. They were all getting in her way.

Imo Adam messed up trusting or saying to much trying to talk to his parents and Summer. They were behind Charles dying or applauded it anyhow.

I think there are things we will never know here. Charles tried to keep it more on the down low but Adam did not. I'm not blaming anyone but Lori, etc. but yes, she knew what they were up to. Maybe Brandon was still hoping to salvage his marriage to that witch and perhaps didn't get as involved, hard to say. I wouldn't let my child near any of them and I'm sorry but that includes Brandon, Adam, etc. Brandon lets his kids go to Melanie but not a soul can say why she would be more trusted now. Adam sees his parents, uhm, no thanks. I mean I get it but MY kids wouldn't be going near any of them. Mel particularly.

Brandon had the perfect case to keep her from the kids imo. I'm not sure HE sees through her to this day.

All jmo.

Long ago so I'm hazy on that one. I know the Brooks guy did too, and Ted Bundy. They are all usually over the top.

Most killers have massive egos and constantly crave the spotlight. Even when they are on trial for sinister crimes and facing a possible death penalty, they can’t help but take center stage and have all eyes on them.

They are also deluded enough to believe that they know how to defend themselves better than any real lawyer. However, by choosing to act as their own attorneys, they quickly discover the easiest way to do hard time and possibly sign their own death warrants.

This is a video from the lawyer you know analysing the opening statement from Lori. Interesting to hear his opinion on it.

Well we know this one likes attn although I do think she'd prefer she not be caught or convicted but she had attn on the outside of her followers, etc. It seems natural that when she lost that, and her freedom she'd have to get it elsewhere. I think she's mad she was caught.

I disagree with prisoners having internet and seeing YT channels and such but I almost wish she could see all of the nasty comments about her through the years. I wonder if she can take it, that she has fooled NO ONE basically but then knowing her, it would still make her a big deal in her head from being talked of such much.

Understanding such minds imo is about impossible although I'm not sure that much really makes them tick. As Lindsey Blake put it, was it money, sex and power? That is what I thought before it was ever said, maybe greed, yeah, things like that.

If we think about the order of the murders, it was Charles first, for his life insurance, which she found out he had changed. Then the kids for their social security. It wasn't enough so then she zoomed in on Brandon's life insurance, hence the attempt by her henchman Alex on Brandon. Oh darn he missed, the idiot, so then they tried Tammy, whose life insurance had recently been increased at Chad's insistence. Oh flip, he missed again FFS, so Chad, you need to take care of it personally now, Alex can help again.

Money was the combined motive for all the murders, so they should come into it IMO. The jury is only hearing about a very small part of the whole conspiracy.
