4-year-old Alabama boy vanished Wednesday morning; search ongoing

The search is ongoing for an Alabama boy missing since late Wednesday morning.

Johnathan Everett Boley, 4, was last seen about 11:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of Highway 195 in Jasper.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued an Emergency Missing Child Alert, and a lookout bullet for Johnathan was even broadcast over police radios in Jefferson County early Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Nick Smith Johnathan could be with a black dog.

“This dog was supposed to be with a missing child from Thach and has not been found also,” Smith posted on Facebook. “Finding this dog could help us in finding the missing child.”

The sheriff also asked that anyone in the of Highway 95 check their cameras, especially deer cameras placed in wooded areas.

Details surrounding the boy’s disappearance have not been released.

The last question was if the dogs hit on any scent of him near where he went under the fence. The sheriff said not that he's aware of.

I know there have been many dogs used I think it's been said. And so I wonder if that means they have had NO DOGS hit on his scent at ALL...

Well that really struck hard. Not having any thoughts right now because I'd barely taken in the last press conference and was going to talk about it when I saw this news here.

The only two thoughts I've had is what a good dog to stay with him and that he likely wasn't in water or the dog wouldn't have been said to be "with" him imo. Most likely anyhow.

He could have died of exposure but just two hours earlier the sheriff was optimistic yet that the dog would provide body warmth which is true and it is AL, Haven't looked up night temps there though recently. Can't recall if they said either.

In that two hour before presser the sheriff added in the dad about trying to help by providing info or something like that...

Not real sure what to think here yet.

Trying to catch up on this. Now there were no explosives found?

"We suspended the search a little earlier because volunteers were flagging, potential things that they thought might be, explosives. We have identified, across the street that none of those items flagged were explosives," he said.

I think there were, just not what the searchers/volunteers thought were such. He is charged with manufacturing explosives I believe along with chemical endangerment. I'd have to look back. But he has more than one charge and one relates to explosives.

There were issues in the house and thought to be on the land too, re explosives.

The items found in his house were explosives.
There were extra items flagged out on the property and surrounding areas as possibly explosives. Those were not.
Right. And one of his charges are for explosives right? I heard it said by the sheriff earlier I think, the endangerment was added but the other charge still stands I think.

Sheriff Nick Smith said there were no immediate signs of foul play, and that it appears the boy wandered off while playing with his brother.

A volunteer doing a grid search discovered John John’s body near a creek in a wooded area about two miles from his father’s home in the Thach community.
(…)
Court records made public Friday show Boley is also charged with two counts of chemical endangerment of a child.

Charging documents state the missing child, Johnathan “John John” Boley, and his 6-year-old brother, Isaac, “had the opportunity” to be exposed to methamphetamine.

I wondered today about meth. Due to the chemical thing, the land, the dad's "ways" he seemed to have, if he was making meth. I mean some of these things sometimes go hand in hand or seem to. And it takes a few "chemicals" too.

Thanks for that news.

I'd say due to meth and chemicals, tox is certainly going to matter here (does in all but definitely here). Even IF another cause of death seems obvious, those results may well matter a lot.
