Johnathan Everett Boley, 4, was last seen about 11:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of Highway 195 in Jasper.

Sheriff Nick Smith Johnathan could be with a black dog.

“This dog was supposed to be with a missing child from Thach and has not been found also,” Smith posted on Facebook. “Finding this dog could help us in finding the missing child.”

The sheriff also asked that anyone in the of Highway 95 check their cameras, especially deer cameras placed in wooded areas.

Hoping dad wasn't trying to train them and sending them on like an obstacle course. I have a worse thought and I'm keep it to myself.

But for all we know he was missing prior or not in the woods. Not blaming the brother but would not be the only kid ever forced to lie in such a situation out of fear.

They said above in one of the posts that the only reason they have for believing he was in the woods is the brother. I take that to mean they have found no indication of anything to back that up. No footprints, items, etc.

And of course, the dog didn't have a collar. Not surprising with what this guy sounds like. Are they SURE the dog existed?

Walker County sheriff tells public to stop searching for missing 5-year-old after explosives, booby traps found on property

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public to stop searching for a missing 5-year-old believed to be in danger because of explosives and booby traps found on the property in the area.

Sheriff Nick Smith said the boy was living with his father, who reported him missing at about 1 p.m. The mother moved to Florida one year ago and the father is given five days each year for visitation. The child went missing during visitation, according to the sheriff.

The father is former military and neighbors said they have heard explosions for weeks.

There was one reported Wednesday, but officials cannot confirm if that is connected to the missing child.

The FBI explosives team is on the scene.

Officials are still continuing the search. Agencies have been using drones and tracking dogs to search for the 5-year-old boy. A helicopter from Montgomery is also being used.

Divers were brought in on Thursday to search some ponds around the house.

'He just disappeared': Aunt urges prayers for missing 4-year-old as community joins search in Walker County

Authorities and volunteers are intensifying their search for 4-year-old Johnathan Boley, who was reported missing in Walker County on Wednesday afternoon.

Johnathan's aunt, Kim Smith, described him as a "country boy who loves nature, Paw Patrol, and running." She is urging the community to pray for his safe return.

"It's almost kind of like he just disappeared. And, you know, we're just hoping for the best," Smith said.

Kim Smith expressed the family's distress over the past 33 hours, saying, "Having all this help come out and not having an inkling of anything, no signs of anything that, you know, he's been out in the woods, nothing from the thermal drains from the dog ponds today."

Sheriff Nick Smith said that more than 161 volunteers and 126 first responders joined the search efforts on Thursday, with the FBI also assisting in the investigation.

The search covered 500 acres, but was temporarily suspended when volunteers flagged potential explosives, which were later identified as non-explosive items.

"We suspended the search a little earlier because volunteers were flagging, potential things that they thought might be, explosives. We have identified, across the street that none of those items flagged were explosives," he said.

Kim Smith expressed gratitude for the community's support, saying, "Small communities stick together. And that's just something that we are very grateful for, that we had so many people come out to help us search for Jonathan."

Despite the fear and uncertainty, Kim Smith remains hopeful.

"I just hope that he's found soon and just want to let him know that his Aunt Kim loves him," she said.

Sheriff Smith announced that search efforts on the ground will resume at 7 a.m. on Friday, with helicopters continuing to fly over the area in hopes of locating Johnathan. Volunteers are encouraged to join the search effort.

And the aunt had little to say about explosives and his father? Not surprising I guess, probably told not to, who knows. A little country boy and likes running? So he was with dad or mom, there sure have been conflicting reports. Nothing about explosives.

Searchers are reporting things they think are but sheriff says none are? WTH is going on here??

Anyone ask her about dad being arrested?

I found the remark earlier in an article that he was in the military to mean nothing when supposedly he is making pipe bombs and possible worse. I suppose it may be true but not everyone in the military does such sh*t.

Praying he's okay. And maybe I'm taking the country boy and "runner" remark wrong. If he was ever even in the woods perhaps he was running FROM something... OR someone. Or made to.

This one is NOT going to be good. I wish I could shake that thought.

You know, in the beginning of this he says at least twice if not more "the children", making sure the children weren't hiding in the house for instance. This is extremely odd. A reporter did hit on that with a question later on and noted it but she doesn't pursue it far enough. Were BOTH kids missing initially or something?? He doesn't do that just once...

And the dog routinely caught on the game camera of someone's property nearby near a corn feeder or some such, routinely, daily. But dog hasn't been seen on it since I think they said the 26th.

He also said father got visitation five days a YEAR. Any parent who is restricted to that little likely should not have any.

Explosions reported by neighbors but they couldn't tell for sure where they were coming from... And more.

Nothing new to most probably but just listening to it this morning...

I'm always suspicious when a child comes up missing immediately before needing to produce them. In this case, the kids were supposed to go back to Mom the next day when was the last time others saw him?
I think I asked that above too. Other than the brother saying he saw him which I don't take as gospel necessarily. Many a parent has made their child lie either by intimidation, fear of losing the parent, etc.

In one of those last pressers, it is VERY clear they have found nothing to indicate he did indeed go into the woods...

This doesn't seem like a man who would typically call the cops, not if he had illegal explosives and such. So it very well may be likely knowing the mother expected the kids back that he had to do something, so he reported him missing... And ended up getting himself arrested for illegal explosives...

...chemical endangerment of a child...

Jameson Kyle Boley is charged with unlawful manufacture of a destructive device or bacteriological weapon and two counts of chemical endangerment of a child.

Jameson Boley was in the Army from March of 2003 until November of 2006. His discharge information couldn't be disclosed, according to an Army spokesperson.

WVTM 13 looked into court records for Boley, including a petition for protection from abuse filed by his ex-wife during their divorce in 2021.

The filing stated that the woman was injured and restrained by Boley and she was afraid. She wrote that he had put his hands around her throat and choked her until she couldn't breathe, and that she was "worried he will do (it) again to me or our children, or potentially kill one of us."

Most agencies are back to saying that Johnathan is 4.
First 4, then 5, now 4 again.

While the boy's father initially told authorities that Johnathan was 5, the family clarified that he is only 4 years old.
