State police searching for missing boy

Kentucky State Police is searching for a missing child in Breathitt County.

Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Post 13 Trooper Matt Gayheart says KSP responded to a 911 call for a missing child in the Panbowl Branch Road area of Jackson Wednesday morning.

Gayheart says troopers and local search and rescue teams responded to the area and began searching for the missing child, Jayden Spicer, 10.

The preliminary investigation shows that Spicer left his home in the middle of the night and early morning hours.

Spicer was last seen around 9 pm on Tuesday at his home. He was last seen wearing a blue “Sonic the Hedgehog” pajama set.

Kentucky State Police have focused their investigation around where Jayden's mother says she last saw him, in bed at home. A neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted the moment Jayden's mother knocked on his door last Wednesday around 9 a.m., looking for help.

“She was crying and asked if she could use my phone. I gave it to her, and she called 911, telling them, ‘My child is missing.’”

Troopers have indicated that Jayden recently moved in with his mother following the passing of his great-grandmother.

"She also explained to me that she went to bed with her husband around nine and then they woke up in the morning, went to the place that her kid was sleeping and they found out the kid was not there," the neighbor said.

The search operations have been complicated by the rugged terrain, thick brush, and nearby ponds and creeks. Trooper Matt Gayheart shared that they are using a range of search tools, including drones, sonar technology, K9 units, and teams conducting foot searches throughout the area.

And still no mention if she even asked him if he had seen him. It sounds like she just asked to use his phone with no explanation of why.

Would also like to know if it was common for him to wake up before them. Common for him to go outside and play first thing in the morning? No working phone. Probably unlikely they had cable.
REALLY want to know what any of the other children in the home have to say. (No official confirmation that other children were there, but comments seem to indicate that's the case.)

By the looks of the mom and her history, I would hazard a guess that waking up early is not her forte.

Also how many neighbors did she even ask if they had seen him? Or did she just immediately go to this one neighbor and ask to use their phone? And how long did she look for him (if at all) before sure decided to go to the neighbors?

Yeah, I'm not liking how this one is going.

They went to bed at 9 and woke up at 9. 12 hours in bed. Also

"...they woke up in the morning and went to the place that her kid was sleeping and they found out the kid was not there."

Sounds weird. Does he have a bedroom? Calling it "the place that her kid was sleeping" makes it sound like it was not in the house.

The search for 10-year-old Jayden Spicer, who was reported missing in Breathitt County, Kentucky, has taken a tragic turn, though official confirmation from authorities has not yet been released. Jayden was last seen around 9 PM on August 5 at his home on Panbowl Branch Road in Jackson. Kentucky State Police began their investigation the next morning, responding to a call at 9:25 AM on August 6. They believe Jayden may have left the home either overnight or early that morning.
Search efforts have included drones, K-9 units, sonar, and boots-on-the-ground teams, and the KSP previously stated that they would expand operations. A GoFundMe was launched to help fund a reward for information, and Father Jim Sichko, a well-known Catholic priest and Papal Missionary of Mercy, pledged a $1,500 reward for Jayden’s safe return.

However, in the last 24 hours, unconfirmed reports have surfaced on social media suggesting Jayden may have been found deceased. Several posts claim that his mother, Felicia Gross, allegedly confessed to killing him and burying his body near the grave of his grandmother. Some say police scanner traffic referenced taking someone “to the body,” though this has not been verified by law enforcement.

Adding to the growing speculation, Father Jim Sichko posted on X (formerly Twitter), "ETERNAL REST FOR LITTLE JAYDEN SPICER - I AM OFFERING TO COVER FUNERAL EXPENSES IF NEEDED. MAY HE REST IN PEACE."
At this time, Kentucky State Police have not officially confirmed Jayden’s death or any arrests. The public is urged to await verified updates from authorities as the investigation continues.
Jayden Spicer was described as a white male, 5’1” tall, slim build, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue "Sonic the Hedgehog" pajama pants and a matching shirt.

Now, for the info on exactly how long he's been gone. Will the start of school be the catalyst for reporting him missing or somebody inquiring about him and they needed to make up an excuse for not being able to produce him or did it really happen within a day or so?
