State police searching for missing boy

Kentucky State Police is searching for a missing child in Breathitt County.

Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Post 13 Trooper Matt Gayheart says KSP responded to a 911 call for a missing child in the Panbowl Branch Road area of Jackson Wednesday morning.

Gayheart says troopers and local search and rescue teams responded to the area and began searching for the missing child, Jayden Spicer, 10.

The preliminary investigation shows that Spicer left his home in the middle of the night and early morning hours.

Spicer was last seen around 9 pm on Tuesday at his home. He was last seen wearing a blue “Sonic the Hedgehog” pajama set.

Soooooo, he's reported missing right before school starts. Coincidence? That gets us to the usual "when was the last time anybody outside the home saw him".

That pic looks like younger than 10 BUT he could just be one that looks younger. He looks more like 8 in it
Also interesting that it's the ONLY photo that's been released of him.
Some people are also wondering if the darkness around his eyes is black eyes / bruising or if it's just the lighting.

Or allergies. My eyes get that way with my allergies. It looks like the thick of allergy season in that pic. Just not sure how many allergy seasons ago that pic was taken.

Two vehicles. So who else lives there?
I would guess at least one doesn't run, possibly both. Not seeing a tag on the red one and the truck has a covering over the windshield.

NOTE: KY tags are blue and white until you get to vanity tags, which I can bet they do not have as they cost more.

Similar to the Lilly and Jack situation then. Area even looks similar with forest all around. Don't know exactly when they disappeared in both cases. No dad around. I wonder if CPS were involved too? It sure sounds like it with her prior charges.
It makes me wonder if he is ill. I've seen several kids who have cancer whose eyes look like that.
Half starved more likely. Very thin.

If she's really had child endangerment charges, pretty much guaranteed CPS has been involved and very well could have been the entity that contacted le that initiated the official charges. Not sure which one came first in this case but it would be very irresponsible if they weren't contacted if the charges came first.

His coloring looks better than most I've seen wet terrible illnesses like cancer. They look very much like my family's eyes during allergy season. It was always my first sign in my kids when they were little that their allergies were kicking in before they were able to convey to me they were having issues.

From what I've gathered, the child endangerment charges came when Jayden was born with drugs in his system. He hasn't lived with her at all since he was born, until a few months ago. Then CPS became involved again / more to clear Jayden to return to his mother's home. Again, consider this rumor because it's just Facebook posts but...

I've never seen allergy eyes like that. How interesting. I wonder if it's genetic.

The kids I've seen it in are in early stages of the disease.

It's sinus allergies that causes that. Allergy eyes are just red and itchy in appearance sometimes with lots of tear production. Mine tend to get really dry instead of teary though.

From what I read his grandmother died in May and CPS handed him back to Mom? Maybe he really did run away.

Either way, they seemed to have made a grave mistake in handing him back over to her. Did they not do a home study before sending him back or was it strictly a "family first" kind of situation?

Supposedly, there was a plan in place for reunification that might have been escalated.

He had evidently been living away from Mom for most of his life, if not all of it. Seems odd that suddenly she's capable. I wonder what her requirements were due for reunification and if she had met all of them. Sure sounds like a "family first at all costs" situation to me.

Community comes together to offer reward for missing Jackson boy

Investigators continue to race against the clock as the search for 10-year-old Jayden Spicer continues.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Matt Gayheart told FOX 56 that they’re still in a similar position to when they began the search.

“Unfortunately, we’ve not been able to locate a lot of evidence suggesting that he would be close by. So unfortunately, we’re kind of at the same spot we were when we started the search,” Gayheart said. “We must continue hope, but unfortunately, at this point, where we’re at in the investigation, it’s a race against the clock. We’re essentially at kind of our last leg. We need to locate him immediately."

Authorities have since “broadened” the search for Jayden after exhausting all resources in the immediate area, combing over around twenty square miles.

Jeff Turner lives in Jackson, and on Sunday, Aug. 10, he offered $500 for anyone who could bring Jayden home.

“This is absolutely breaking my heart,” Turner said. “We all know there’s so much that we don’t know. I just want this baby found.”

He wasn’t alone, and the comments were filled with nearly 100 people offering to contribute.

Turner, with the help of Jayden’s aunt, Samantha Brunty, created a GoFundMe to raise money for a reward.

“Our hearts are breaking and need our little Jayden home, this GoFundMe is for a cash award for anyone that can produce any whereabouts of Jayden Spicer to close this case,” she wrote. “To collect the reward, the person has to close the case and bring Jayden home.”

The community has raised over $1,500 since it was created on Monday morning.

“My honest opinion is something’s happened to that child. And that’s broken my heart because somebody would have found something by now. I’m praying for the Lord to show us, you know, he’s okay or to find him, but then my mind is like, this is a recovery,” Rosa McIntosh told FOX 56 on Friday.
