Detectives investigating the murder of Julie received information from the defence team who represented her killer, Karl Hutchings, about a potential burial site in the area, and following searches, they found remains.

Julie’s family have been made aware of the discovery.

A post-mortem will take place next week, when identification is also expected to take place.

A scene is likely to remain in place for the next week.

Earlier this week Hutchings, 48, of The Hill in Christchurch pleaded guilty to Julie’s murder. He is next due in court for sentencing on October 24.

Detective Chief Insp Richard Stott said: “Julie’s family have been made aware of this significant update and are being supported by specially trained officers.”

Concerns were raised for the whereabouts of 55-year-old Julie in early February, and investigations revealed she had not been seen since January 28.

Officers attended her home in The Hill, Christchurch, Wisbech, on February 13 and found blood around the property, which was later forensically linked to Julie.

Hutchings was arrested later that day.

It is believed he killed her on January 30 and proceeded to use her bank cards and sell possessions.

Despite extensive searches and numerous public appeals, Julie’s body has yet to be found.

Cambridgeshire Police believed Karl Hutchings killed Julie Buckley at her home

Police searching for the body of a murdered woman have found human remains in a field.

Julie Buckley, who was 54 when she disappeared, was last seen shopping in the town of March in Cambridgeshire on 28 January and, after concerns for her welfare were raised in early February, police found bloodstains at her home in nearby Christchurch.

Karl Hutchings, 48, of The Hill in Christchurch, initially denied her murder but earlier this week changed his plea to guilty.

Detectives investigating the murder received information from Hutchings' defence team about a potential burial site and, following searches, found remains off Blue Lane in Wimblington. They have yet to formally identify the remains.

Cambridgeshire Police believe Hutchings killed Ms Buckley on 30 January, then used her bank cards and sold her possessions.

The force said a post-mortem examination would take place next week.

"Julie's family have been made aware of this significant update and are being supported by specially trained officers," said Det Ch Insp Richard Stott.

Hutchings is due to be sentenced on 24 October.
