OH HERSHALL CREACHBAUM: Missing from Dayton, OH - 12 July 2025 - Age 7 *Found Deceased**GUILTY PLEA*

Creachbaum suspect wants to move trial out of Montgomery County

The lawyer for the man arrested in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s nonverbal, autistic son has filed for a change of venue ahead of his trial.

The trial of Michael Kendrick, 40, is scheduled to begin in November. He was indicted on eight counts related to the death of Hershall Creachbaum Jr., including murder, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse, beginning in November.

Michael Pentecost, Kendrick’s attorney, said the publicity associated with the case will make it hard to find an impartial jury in Montgomery County.

“The only way to protect that right for Mr. Kendrick is to grant a change of venue and move this case out of a county that has already rendered its verdict,” he wrote in the filing.

Another filing in the case came from the prosecuting attorney last Thursday.

He asked the judge for Creachbaum’s remains to be moved from the coroner’s office to the prosecutor’s office in case they are needed during Kendrick’s trial.

Kendrick’s attorney said he has no objection to the release of the remains, so long as they are not released for burial or cremation.

Kendrick will return to court on Oct. 20 for his final pre-trial hearing.

Ohio man pleads guilty in death of 7-year-old boy with special needs

An Ohio man has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including murder, in the death of a 7-year-old boy with special needs.

Kendrick was charged earlier this year, and on Friday, pleaded guilty to to murder, child endangering, tampering with evidence, and gross abuse of a corpse in Creachbaum's death.

Heck, Jr. says Kendrick admitted that while the child had been in his care, he became angry and then physically abused the child. According to prosecutors, the abuse included punching the child twice in the face and fracturing his ribs.

Heck, Jr. also said that Kendrick didn't obtain medical care but rather disposed of the body by near-by train tracks.

According to Heck, Jr., once the body decomposed, Kendrick placed the bones in a plastic trash bag and discarded the bones by the McClure street bridge.

“This case is heartbreaking, particularly because Hershall was only seven years old and depended on others for his care and protection,” Heck Jr. said. “The circumstances surrounding Hershall’s death and the efforts to conceal what happened are deeply disturbing. Our office is committed to seeking justice for victims, especially those who are most vulnerable and cannot speak for themselves.”

Sentencing will be set at a later date.
