I watched the video and find it interesting New York did not get this case until, was it 2002? That is a lot of years. It also said there was a history of domestic violence. Before I listened to it, I wondered if the picture up above of her was bad lighting or bruises and a laceration on her face? Still wondering actually. He also said some of the family is being honest and some are not (paraphrasing). The husband has lawyered up as well.

I hope they solve this, they seem to have an idea of who did this or hint at that anyway.

"At the time of her disappearance, Erica's relationship with her husband, Richard, was troubled. During the summer of 1986, Richard took their baby son and moved to Duanesburg, New York, leaving Erica with her family in Michigan. She went to Duanesburg to get the baby back, but wound up reconciling with Richard.

Months later, in October, she called her brother in Michigan to say she was afraid for her life and wanted to leave again. She promised to call him again the next day to make arrangements to leave, but she never did. Shortly afterwards, Richard took their son and moved to Vermont.

Erica wasn't reported missing until February 1987. One of her sons died in 2006. Her husband is still alive and still lives in Vermont. Her case remains unsolved and foul play is suspected."

I'd like to know what good ol' Richard has been up to this past 30 years.....

Private investigators dedicated to solving local cold case

The search is still on 35 years later after Erica Jayne Franolich disappeared out of Schoharie County.

There have been several reports out that the 26-year-old was last seen on October of 1986 at a bar near Main Street and Railroad Ave in Middleburgh. However, some investigators and family know that wasn’t the last place Erica was seen. “She was actually last known to be at their home…the Franolich home,” says Greg Overacker, Private Investigator for Private Investigations for the Missing.

Erica Franolich lived with her son and her husband, Richard, in Schoharie County. Erica’s older sister Nada Thomspon says Erica was in a troubled marriage. The couple was involved with alcohol, drugs, and physical abuse. At the time, Erica’s family was living in Michigan and reported her missing after they had trouble getting in touch with her. The family wasn’t able to file a missing persons report until they came to New York in February.

Recently, this case has gained local attention. Between blog posts, podcasts and two billboards in Cobleskill, Greg and others are trying to spread the word. The billboards were put up on Tuesday and will be up for a month. They will remind the community that Erica is still missing. “There are people in the area that have information and we need them to come forward,” says Greg.

Greg says donations made the billboards possible. “…We’re trying to reach as many people as possible because we know these people are out there.”

Billboard alerts passersby of cold case in Middleburgh

Though nearly four decades have passed since Erica’s mysterious disappearance, her siblings are still searching to explain what happened to their sister.

On May 24, Erica’s family and private investigator Greg Overacker put up two billboards on either ends of the town of Cobleskill, located 12 miles Northwest of Middleburgh, in an effort to get more information about Erica’s case. The billboards read: “Missing Person, Last Seen in Middleburgh, NY October 13th, 1986, WhereIsErica.com, Call 315-542-7800.”

The billboards were funded by a GoFundMe page, which raised $3,649 from 50 donors in under a month. Overacker said he hopes that Cobleskill residents will see the billboards when they are driving to the town’s shopping center, and the message will jog memories of the night Erica disappeared.

“We put them up to get some reaction,” said Nada Thompson, Erica’s sister. Some Schoharie County residents know what happened to Erica, but have not come forward, according to her brother, Pete Poprafsky, 65, who lives in Waterford, Michigan. “There’s no way you can not know if you’re living right there,” he said.
