Three missing girls in Wenatchee found dead, father still missing

Three missing girls in the Wenatchee area were found dead, according to the Wenatchee Police Department.

According to the police department, police responded to reports of a civil complaint when the mom of three young girls reported that her daughters did not return after a planned visitation with their father.

Police said Decker was believed to be living out of a white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup, which was last seen heading west on Highway 2 from Wenatchee on May 30.

WSP was contacted Friday night for an Amber Alert request, but Wenatchee Police said it did not meet the required criteria, and an Endangered Missing Person Alert was issued.

Law enforcement eventually found Decker's car unoccupied near the Rock Island Campground.

Other officers searched the immediate area and found the bodies of the three missing girls.

Decker is wanted for three counts of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. Police do not know if Decker is currently armed, but he may still pose a significant risk, according to police.

Yes. Well, kind of. Where the search is now...yes. At least partially. The search is pretty much bordering between Chelan and Kittitas Counties.
The town of Kittitas, where Cody went missing, is about 30 miles east on I90.
I'm hoping for the slight chance that while they are out looking for this killer, they will stumble upon Cody's remains.

It's what people do in such times when they don't know what to do.
Nice gesture but I have my opinion as to how much it helps. Nothing really imo touches the absolute grief and it's just something to rise to the occasion for if one attends or feels as if they are expected to.
I think this mom could use help in seeing she needs to realize HE did this.
Not that i'm any expert. I just hate platitudes. This is SO big. SO tragic.
Pray. Ask your congregation to. And so on.
Give real help.
Sorry, must be the mood today. Surely it is a nice gesture. It's what people do when they don't know what to do.
We had such things suggested and you name it. I do have reasons for the opinion but I will leave it. I know people mean well.

Search for Travis Decker: Latest update from Kittitas County Sheriff
The manhunt for Travis Decker, the Wenatchee man wanted in the kidnapping and murder of his three daughters, continues.

Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies and Kittitas County Regional Tactical Response Team members are still active in the border areas of the county nearest Decker’s last believed location, KCSO said in a Facebook post Sunday.

Investigators believe decker is hiding between Ingalls Creek and "Eagle Creek.

The reward for any information leading to Decker is $20,000.

Nearly three weeks after the bodies of three young girls were discovered at a remote campground west of Leavenworth, the once-intense search for their father and suspected killer, Travis Decker, appears to have slowed its fervent pace.

Over the weekend, the U.S. Marshal’s Office, which recently took over search operations, did not fly King County Sheriff’s Office helicopters or the Washington State Patrol’s infrared-equipped Cessna, which flew repeated nighttime missions during the first week. Marshals were also using drones to look for signs of Decker. However, emails to Department of Justice officials to confirm if those flights continue have gone unanswered.

The shift doesn’t necessarily suggest a reduction in urgency or available leads as investigators continue the manhunt into increasingly remote terrain. However, it could signal a new tactic after the U.S. Forest Service reopened multiple trails in and around that area of the Cascade Mountain Range.

Monday marked the beginning of week three in the official search for Decker, a former Army Ranger believed to have received survival training during his military service. Authorities have scoured hundreds of square miles across mountainous terrain, lakes, and rivers near Leavenworth and the Enchantments—a popular rugged area of tall peaks and picturesque alpine lakes. While the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it has handed over all active search operations to federal agencies, while local deputies and prosecutors remain in charge of the criminal investigation.

Daily Mail says when he failed to return them the next day. I thought they were NOT to go on overnights with him? So WHY were they especially when he was off and quieter than normal, etc.? I think it great they brought in the feds to look for him, however, good luck finding him,he is not going to be found easily in such an area and I doubt they are combing every inch. While he might be survivalist and know how to hunt let's say and eat, unless he prepared ahead he is really going to be lacking things, and people and those if any that have homes in the area are apt to be in real danger. Not seeing any positive signs he will be caught real soon here. Hasn't been yet. I hope i'm wrong.

I think the odds of catching him are much higher if he’s alive. If he has offed himself, he might never ever be found!
True but he supposedly is a survivalist and it is summer. Not here, rotten weather lol but most places. I think odds are about the same. If he sought out people, houses, stores, etc. chances are higher but a lot more dangerous for the public too. Sometimes it is hard though to picture if one hasn't seen an area, internet does help a lot these days. I'd say too it would depend on how much he prepped and thought ahead.

They haven't got him yet. It is clear though they think him alive for some reason. Jmo.

Helicopter search for Travis Decker resumes in Kittitas County, triple homicide case deepens

A federal helicopter searched the foothills of the Teanaway Valley in Kittitas County overnight for Travis Decker, a man accused of killing his three young daughters at a campground near Leavenworth. A manhunt has been underway for Decker in Eastern Washington for two weeks.

A government-owned UH-72A Lakota Eurocopter made multiple circles in a specific area just north of the intersection of State Route 97 and State Route 970, which is about five miles from Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Suncadia, between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

On social media, the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) said their deputies and tactical teams are actively searching for Decker. They are asking residents to be alert for a suspicious person, especially in the Teanaway Valley and Blewett Pass areas, to include Red Bridge Road, Teanaway, Swauk, Lauderdale Junction, and Liberty.

In its latest update, the sheriff’s office released three images showing how Decker might look today — with a mustache, clean-shaven, or with longer hair — as he “potentially could have altered his appearance.”

FBI, U.S. Marshals, and psychics: Inside the Decker manhunt as it stretches into third week

The Chelan County Sheriff revealed he has been consulting investigators from some of the nation’s most notorious fugitive cases as multiple law enforcement agencies search for Travis Decker, the man accused of killing his three young daughters at a campground near Leavenworth.

Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison is also working with a U.S. Marshals psychologist on site in Wenatchee to better understand what Decker might be thinking, in addition to using tips from psychics with federal agents.

Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison spoke with KIRO Newsradio about the ongoing search for the homeless, former soldier, Travis Decker, who has been at the center of a three-week manhunt in central Washington.

Wednesday afternoon, there was a new helicopter search in the mountains near the town of Cashmere in Chelan County. Flight tracking data showed a government-owned UH-72A Lakota Eurocopter circling the area around Mission Creek Road, in some spots that were less than a mile from Cashmere.

Morrison said he believes Decker is still alive and might be accessing multiple caves and old mine shafts throughout the mountains of Chelan County to hide or seek shelter from the elements.

“I do believe he’s still alive, and until I find something that would prove otherwise, we’re going to consider that he is alive,” Morrison said. “We have not found a body. And at this point, I figured if that had been the case, just the amount of people who do come and recreate here in Chelan County, that we would have found something that we’re going to continue to take into account that we’ll either find him in one state or the other.”

Morrison also explained that they have consulted with behavioral experts from the FBI, and have a U.S. Marshal’s psychologist on site in Wenatchee to help understand what Decker might be thinking and where he may go next. Morrison said he recently contacted investigators who conducted other high-profile fugitive cases, including the 21-day search for Jorge Alcantara-Gonzalez, the 2020 murder suspect who hid in the woods of Kittitas County. Alcantara-Gonzales survived by breaking into cabins and stealing food from campsites. Morrison said he also recently chatted with a former FBI Special Agent who worked on the 1996 case and five-year manhunt for Centennial Olympic Park bomber, Eric Rudolph.

“He told me, he’s like, hey, that was a five-year effort. And it really was that patrol deputy on the road that saw a subject dumpster diving, contacted him, and there was Eric Rudolph,” Morrison said. “He was taken into custody.”

It's kind of a no brainer that when he hears a helicopter, etc. in an area he is in, he is going to hide, hole up, change routes maybe, or plans. Imo.

A five year effort, well that's great. Yet it makes sense it would one day be something like that. One would HOPE he won't be on the loose that long but pretty hard to say. I don't think they really have any way of knowing he isn't dead other than if sightings but he does not strike me as the type, unless maybe down to a showdown.

Not great food if you can't have a fire. But he's a survivalist supposedly. Hard to say what he has with too or if he prepared anything, even perhaps hiding it.

What a nightmare.

Military-trained WA dad accused of killing daughters believed to be alive: police

Authorities believe the Washington father accused of killing his three young daughters is still alive and actively evading authorities as federal and state law enforcement officials continue to comb through the dense wilderness in search of the military-trained survivalist.

Officials also quashed a TikTok video reportedly showing CCSO Sheriff Mike Morrison announcing Decker’s arrest after a long standoff.

"To be clear, Mr. Decker is not in custody and CCSO had no part in making the video," the department wrote in a Facebook post.
