ROCKDALE COUNTY — Authorities are asking for the public’s help as investigators work to identify the skeletal remains of a young child found in a wooded area of Rockdale County

RCSO seeks public’s help in identifying remains of child​

Upon arrival, deputies confirmed the remains were skeletal and human. Investigators later determined the remains belong to a child believed to be between 6 and 7 years old and no older than 8, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said a forensic facial approximation was completed in an effort to help identify the child.

The circumstances surrounding the child’s death remain under investigation, and no cause of death has been released at this time.

Rockdale County deputies are asking the public for help in identifying a child whose remains were discovered last year.

Authorities say on Nov. 14, 2025, deputies responded to the woods near Honey Creek Road and Tucker Mill Road after a person found skeletal remains in the area.

When deputies got to the scene, they confirmed that the bones were human. Investigators later determined that the remains belonged to a child who was 8 years old or younger.

You may have seen rumors circulating on social media that the skeletal remains of a child discovered last fall in Rockdale County, Georgia look similar to that of Codi Bigsby, the 4-year-old Hampton boy killed by his father in 2021 or 2022.

WTKR News 3 reached out to authorities in Georgia and Hampton police to investigate the claims.

Hampton Police told us that "at this time, there is no confirmed connection between that investigation and Codi Bigsby."

On 11/14/2025, unidentified skeletal remains of a child were recovered in a wooded area in Conyers, Georgia. Forensic assessment suggests he may be between 6 and 7 years of age. Through advanced DNA testing, it was determined the child was male and of African ancestry. He had been deceased at least 3 months prior to discovery. The young male was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and boys shorts, size 6-7. Displayed is a facial reconstruction created by a NCMEC Forensic Artist which depicts what he may have looked like in life.

On November 14, 2025, the skeletal remains of a young boy were discovered in a suitcase in a wooded area of Conyers, Georgia. It’s believed that he died years before his remains were found.

The unidentified boy was determined to be African American and was estimated to be between 6 and 8 years old at the time of his death.
