Authorities searching for 3-year-old boy who went missing while playing with dog in Grimes County

Authorities are searching for a 3-year-old boy who they said went missing while chasing a neighbors dog in Grimes County.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office said 3-year-old Christopher Ramirez was last seen in the 10000 block of Deer Park Lane in the Foxfire subdivision around 1:30 p.m. or 2 p.m.

According to reports, the family was unloading groceries when Ramirez spotted a neighbors dog and started playing with it. Moments later, the family said the boy was gone.

UPDATE: Search moves to vehicles, sheds and structures due to new information

7 p.m.
A boy from Grimes County has been declared missing by authorities after he allegedly went chasing after a loose dog and hasn't been seen since.

Chuck Fleeger with the Amber Alert Network of the Brazos Valley said the boy has been identified as Christopher Ramirez, 3. He is three feet tall and weighs about 45 pounds. Ramirez only speaks Spanish but will respond to his name, according to authorities.

Authorities said the boy has been missing since 2 p.m. Wednesday from the 10,000 block of Deer Park Lane in the Foxfire subdivision. Ramirez was last seen wearing a bright green shirt with Mickey Mouse shoes. Authorities are also going house to house in the area.

A DPS helicopter is also flying in the area to see if they can spot the boy from the air. Amber Alert Network of the Brazos Valley is also at the scene to help search for the boy.

8:30 P.M.
Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell confirmed a dog has returned from the woods where authorities have been searching for Christopher Ramirez. Sheriff Sowell said they have covered more than a square mile of wooded area but have not been able to find the boy.

K9 units with TDCJ as well as DPS helicopters have been working with authorities on the ground. Groups of citizens in and around the Plantersville area have also arrived on scene to help search for Ramirez, but a call for volunteers has not been made at this time.

Several agencies are on scene to provide support, including a dive and rescue team to help search any bodies of water.

Sheriff Sowell said he does not have any reason to believe there is foul play involved and that he is hoping Ramirez will be rescued soon. He said authorities will not stop until Ramirez is found.

10:45 P.M.
Authorities said they have received new information from members of Ramirez's family that he likes to play in vehicles. The search team gathered and decided they would once again search each and every vehicle throughout the subdivision.

Teams will also be searching all sheds, pools and other places that look like good hiding spots.

I do have some wonderings about things as well, but it seems like they do not believe this is anything other than what was stated and found. I definitely wouldn't have been shocked to see news that they were looking into something else or there were charges or something. But sometimes things really are as said and kids do get found alive. :)

Christopher Ramirez returned home after being released from a Houston area hospital, where he had been receiving care since he was found on Saturday.

When he was found, Christopher was dehydrated but overall was in good spirits, according to authorities. Nuñez said her son was healthy after his release from the hospital.

Authorities did not provide details Monday on how the boy survived by himself for four days. Sowell said investigators don’t believe Christopher was taken by anybody when he went missing.

Monday afternoon Christopher was able to leave the hospital return home, after having been gone for five days. Sheriff’s deputies, police, firefighters and others involved in the search for the toddler all escorted him home.

After being reunited with his mother, Christopher was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands. The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office said at that time he was tired, dehydrated and hungry, but in good spirits and overall healthy. Once home, his mother, Araceli Nunez, spoke to the public showing her gratitude for the people who never stopped looking for her son.

After learning that Christopher was very interested in police officers, Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell had a present for Christopher.

“It’s my honor to pin him with a Junior Deputy badge,” said Sowell. “After all this, he’s passed his survival test. He could be an army ranger, a Navy Seal, a police officer, whatever he wants.”

Regarding the investigation, Sowell says there is still no evidence indicating Ramirez was abducted at any point while he was missing. The boy was found naked, and authorities are continuing to search for his clothes. While it remains an open case, Sowell says investigators are wrapping up all aspects.
Well at least they are looking for his clothes and it says it "remains open. I do believe there are good outcomes and sometimes miraculous ones but as I pointed out, there are just a few too many things here that wow, and hmm, and I'm a bit skeptical.

It would maybe make a difference if they even mentioned he was scratched up or a tiny bit more detail without getting too personal as it sounds like naked and barefoot this child was great except for being a bit dehydrated and hungry and I think again, there had to be some outward signs if he had been in the woods that long at his age and without clothing and shoes.

Personally, I don't know how they could ever know he was never picked up nor dropped off at any point in this ordeal (and that could be on foot or by vehicle or anything and even kept unharmed inside a home and then released or dropped off) unless he is very clear with language, etc. for a two just turned three year old with a maturity level beyond his age to answer questions with some time frame and detail. There is the possibility that more is being looked at than we know. Maybe being in this area and seeing the terrain and likely path would make more sense to me, I don't know.

I forget what case but there was just one where a woman kept two missing children overnight, girls, age 3 and 4, and never notified anyone and that story is odd as well. Just pointing out though that such a thing did happen... She claimed not to know of any alert but who does that?? You don't keep someone's children that age, you would call authorities wouldn't you? And then came forward more than a day after I think...

What I will say in this case is one thing to me makes a lot more logical sense than the other thing and it's not the story we are being told.

However, I don't know such a thing and there is no evidence showing otherwise and I am glad he is safe. I also don't suspect the family really but I do suspect there is more to this.

But it's just my opinion and no disrespect for the opinion of others. I find it all very "hokey".
