Circumstances of Discovery
The victim was located west of a ball field at South 146th Street and 16th Avenue South in what is now SeaTac on March 21, 1984. She may be a runaway from somewhere else in the country. The remains of another victim, Cheryl Wims, were found at the same time.

On the first day of interviews with Task Force detectives, Gary Ridgeway, the Green River Killer, admitted killing a woman near the baseball fields off Des Moines Way.

He thought she was Caucasian, in her early 20's (although examination indicated she was a teenager), and had brown hair. He thought he picked her up in the Riverton (Tukwila) area.

Ridgeway is serving a life sentence for her murder.

Burien Jane Doe - Gary Ridgway victim

This Jane Doe's skeletal remains were found on March 21, 1984, near the Burien Little League baseball field, in King County. She had died a year or more before. Serial killer, Gary Ridgway, stated he had strangled the victim after he picked her up near the Pacific Highway South. She was estimated to be between the ages of 12 and 18.

Two “Green River Killer” Victims Remain Nameless

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Gary Ridgway abducted and murdered dozens of women in the state of Washington. Dubbed the “Green River Killer,” Ridgway eluded the law for nearly 20 years before DNA evidence finally caught up with him. Ridgway was arrested in 2001 and ultimately pleaded guilty to murdering 49 women in King County, Washington. He is currently serving a life sentence without parole.

Among his victims were two females who have remained nameless since the 1980s. Although Ridgway confessed to murdering these young women, he did not know who they were. Investigators are looking to the public for help to give these women back their names.

Jane “Burien” Doe

The remains of a Caucasian girl between the ages of 12 and 18 were found on March 21, 1984 near a Little League baseball park in the Burien area of King County. Her cause of death was determined to be strangulation, and investigators say she was murdered sometime in 1983.

She was between five-feet-two inches tall and five-feet-eight inches tall. No personal items or clothing were found with her remains to help investigators identify her.

SEATTLE — Gary Ridgway pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated first-degree murder in the deaths of 48 women. They are, in order of their disappearances:

1. Wendy Lee Coffield, 16 — July 8, 1982, last seen in Tacoma. Body found in Green River July 15, 1982, near Kent.

2. Gisele Ann Lovvorn, 17 — July 17, 1982, near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Found Sept. 25, 1982, south of airport.

3. Debra Lynn Bonner, 23 — July 25, 1982, south of Sea-Tac airport. Found Aug. 12, 1982, in the Green River near Kent.

4. Marcia Faye Chapman, 31 — Aug. 1, 1982, south Seattle suburbs, Pacific Highway South near the airport, known as the Sea-Tac strip. Found Aug. 15, 1982, Green River.

11. Denise Darcel Bush, 22 — Oct. 8, 1982, last seen around noon on Pacific Highway South. Body appears first to have been left in wooded area in Tukwila, south of Seattle. Some skeletal remains found there Feb. 10, 1990. Her skull was found June 12, 1985, in Tigard, Ore. Investigators believe killer moved part of her remains.

12. Shawnda Leea Summers, 17 — Oct. 9, 1982, downtown Seattle. Found Aug. 11, 1983, north of Sea-Tac airport.

44. Patricia Yellow Robe, 38 — Disappeared 1998. Found Aug. 6, 1998, in a vacant lot on Des Moines Way South near Highway 99.

Ridgway will not enter pleas to seven deaths previously attributed to the Green River Killer, though he remains a suspect in those deaths:

—Kassee Ann Lee, 16. Last seen Aug. 28, 1982, at 11:30 a.m. at her south King County home by her husband. Remains not found.

—Rebecca T. Marrero, 20. Last seen Dec. 3, 1982, at Western Six Motel on Pacific Highway South. Remains not found.

—Tammie Charlene Liles, 16. Last seen June 9, 1983, downtown Seattle. Remains found April 23, 1985, in Tualatin, Ore., south of Portland.

—Keli K. McGinness, 18 — Last seen June 28, 1983, on Pacific Highway South. Remains not found.

—Patricia Anne Osborne — Last seen Oct. 20, 1983, 11500 block of Aurora Avenue North, Seattle. Remains not found.

—One set of unidentified remains.

Another Green River victim is identified

Mystery still surrounds three Ridgway victims, whose remains have been found but never identified. Ridgway implied that the three were killed in spring or summer 1983.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the remains belonged to:

• A white female, possibly as young as 12; found March 21, 1984, in the Burien area off Des Moines Memorial Drive South.


• A white female, between 14 and 17; found Jan. 2, 1986, near Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn.

• A white female, between 16 and 20; found July 2003, in a wooded area along Kent-Des Moines Road.

Gary Leon Ridgway (born February 18, 1949) is an American serial killer known as the Green River Killer. He was initially convicted of 48 separate murders and later confessed to nearly twice that number. As part of his plea bargain, an additional conviction was added, bringing the total number of convictions to 49, making him the most prolific American serial killer in history according to confirmed murders. He murdered numerous women and girls in Washington State during the 1980s and 1990s.[1] Most of his victims were alleged to be prostitutes and other women in vulnerable situations, including underage runaways. The press gave him his nickname after the first five victims were found in the Green River before his identity was known.[2] He strangled the women, usually by hand but sometimes using ligatures. After strangling them, he would dump their bodies in forested and overgrown areas in King County, often returning to the dead bodies to have sexual intercourse with them.[3]

On November 30, 2001, as he was leaving the Kenworth truck factory where he worked in Renton, Washington, he was arrested for the murders of four women whose cases were linked to him through DNA evidence.[3]As part of a plea bargain wherein he agreed to disclose the locations of still-missing women, he was spared the death penalty and received a sentence of life imprisonment without parole.

Jane Doe B-10 is one of three unidentified Green River victims.

Case
The Jane Doe's skeletal remains were found on March 21, 1984. She had died a year or more before, sometime in the early 1980s. Gary Ridgway, who was a formerly unidentified serial killer, stated he had strangled the victim and had picked her up near the Pacific Highway South, indicating she could have been a runaway/hitchhiker or possibly a prostitute. Ridgway thought she was in her early 20s, but it is believed that Jane Doe B-10 was under 19.

On March 21, 1984 the remains of this deceased female were found near a little league baseball park in the Burien area off Des Moines Memorial Drive, King County, Washington. The decedent was estimated to be between 12 and 18 years of age. Her height was estimated to be between 5’2" and 5’8. Her weight is estimated to have been between 110-130 lbs. Her eye color and hair color are all unknown. The victim is believed to have been left-handed. The reconstruction featured above is an artist’s rendering of what the Jane Doe may have looked like. On March 21, 1984, a dog belonging to the Highline Baseball Field caretaker brought home a human femur. The caretaker called police, and a search began of a swampy, wooded area behind center field at the western-most baseball diamond, just west of the intersection of 16 th Avenue South and South 146th Street. This was one-half mile from where Ridgway killed Shawnda Summers and dumped her body in October of 1982.

Over the next few days, police recovered the skeletal remains of Jane Doe "B10." As searching began on the second day, a bloodhound found the remains of yet a third victim, Cheryl Wims, 200 yards to the north of the crime scene.

Repeated attempts by investigators to identify Jane Doe "B10" have been unsuccessful; to this day, the identity of Jane Doe "B10" remains a mystery. A forensic anthropologist concluded that the remains were those of a left-handed Caucasian female. She stood about 5'2" to 5'7" and had a healed fracture in her skull. She was about fifteen years old.

He said he killed her during the day and wanted to make certain she was dead, because he had attempted to kill another woman nearby, but she had escaped. (This woman was never identified.)

Over the course of interviews, Ridgway made contradictory statements about whether he returned to have sex with the unidentified woman's corpse. Police took Ridgway to the North Airport site in June 2003. After some initial confusion, he pointed to the area where Jane Doe "B10" was found.

Four years after Gary Ridgway pleaded guilty to murdering 48 women, the King County Sheriff's Office has released photos of three victims who were never identified.

Investigators hope someone might recognize the facial reconstruction photos of the three victims. Ridgway, known as the Green River killer, admitted to killing them in the spring or summer of 1983, but he didn't know their identities. Detectives have never been able to figure out who they are.

"He didn't remember much, but that's pretty typical of Gary. He knew very little of them," said sheriff's spokesman John Urquhart said.

The facial reconstructions were done based upon women's skulls, Urquhart said. The women's hair styles are only a "best guess," he said.

Urquhart said investigators took so long to release the sketches because they had to find somebody to do the facial reconstructions. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children composed the images, which were made of clay and enhanced by computer.

The remains of one of the women, believed to be Ridgway's 10th victim, were found March 21, 1984, off Des Moines Memorial Drive in the Burien area. The Caucasian victim may have been as young as 12 at the time of her death.

Another victim, Ridgway's 16th, was found on Dec. 30, 1985, near Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn. The African-American or possibly mixed-race woman was approximately 18 to 24 years old.

Investigators are also seeking the identity of the 17th victim, who was found Jan. 2, 1986, near Mountain View Cemetery. The Caucasian woman was between 14 and 18 years old.

SEATTLE, Washington (CNN) --Green River Killer Gary Ridgway pleaded guilty Wednesday to 48 counts of aggravated murder as part of a plea-bargain in which he submitted a written statement that was read aloud in court by prosecutor Jeff Baird:

The Judge has asked me to state what I did in my own words that makes me guilty of these crimes. This is my statement:

I killed the forty-eight (48) women listed in the State's second amended information.

In most cases, when I murdered these women, I did not know their names. Most of the time, I killed them the first time I met them and I do not have a good memory for their faces. I killed so many women I have a hard time keeping them straight.

I have reviewed information and discovery about each of the murders with my attorneys, and I am positive that I killed each one of the women charged in the Second Amended Information. I killed them all in King County. I killed most of them in my house near Military Road, and I killed a lot of them in my truck, not far from where I picked them up. I killed some of them outside. I remember leaving each woman's body in the place where she was found

In King County, Washington, sometime between January 1, 1982 through March 21,1984, with premeditated intent to cause her death, I strangled an unidentified woman referred to as Jane Doe "B1O" to death.
