Distinguishing CharacteristicsCaucasian female. Blonde hair, brown eyes. Farthing's nickname is Brooke. She has pierced ears and a birthmark on her left hip.

Details of Disappearance
Farthing was last seen at a friend's house in the 100 block of Dillon Court in Berea, Kentucky in the early morning hours of June 22, 2013. She had attended a party the night before with her sister, a cousin and some friends. Eventually, most of the others left, and Farthing stayed behind at the party.

She had a friend there who was going to give her a ride home, but the two females argued and Farthing's friend left without her. She sent multiple text messages overnight trying to get a ride home, saying she felt scared. She wanted her ex-fiance to pick her up, but he didn't get off work until later in the morning. The last text from her phone was sent at 5:30 a.m., saying "Never mind, I'm okay. I'm going to a party in Rockcastle County."

Farthing's friend who owned the house left to take care of a horse. When he left, he said, she was sitting on the couch smoking. When he returned at 7:00 a.m., the house was on fire and Farthing was missing, but her cowboy boots, purse and some clothes were still there. The only item missing was her cellular phone. She has never been heard from again and an extensive search of the area turned up no sign of her.

The house fire began on the couch and almost completely consumed it, and burned a hole in the floor underneath, but it was extinguished before it got out of control. It was ruled suspicious. The homeowner was in the process of moving out, and as a result, utilities to the house had been turned off for weeks and there was no electricity there at all.

Investigators believe Farthing may have been taken against her will, and they think the last text message sent from her phone actually was sent by someone else.

Farthing is a graduate of Madison Southern High School. Her family doesn't believe she would have left the house without her belongings and they stated she had no reason to walk out of her life. Her case remains unsolved.

Kentucky State Police are investigating a fire on Dillon Court in Berea, the residence where 18-year-old Brookelyn Shae Farthing was last seen early Saturday morning, according to KSP spokesperson Paul Blanton.

Farthing did not reside in the home, but was reportedly seen there about two hours before the fire.

The KSP distributed a missing person notice Monday morning asking the public’s help to find the Madison Southern High School graduate. Farthing is described as being 5 feet, 1 inch tall with blonde hair and brown eyes.

According to a flyer on Farthing’s Facebook page, the teenager had been wearing a gray Future Farmers of America shirt and light blue-jean shorts and was last seen at 6 a.m. Saturday.

The homeowner was attempting to extinguish the fire with a water hose when the Red Lick Volunteer Fire Department arrived, said Cox, who was uncertain if the homeowner was inside the home when the fire started.

KSP arrest three men on child sexual exploitation charges

Kentucky State Police arrested three Madison County men Tuesday on charges related to sexual abuse material.

The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the three men — Joshua M. Hensley, 30, Bradeley S. Helton, 32, and Stephen Pulsford, 61 — were "promoting the sexual performance of a minor or sharing images of child sexual exploitation online," according to a news release.

Hensley is charged with one count of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance.

In 2013, Hensley was the owner of the home where 18-year-old Brookelyn Farthing, who has been missing since that time, was last seen.

Brookelyn Farthing was only 18 when she went missing in the early hours of June 22, 2013. The night she was last seen, Brookelyn went with her younger sister, a cousin and some friends to a party outside Berea, Kentucky. Although her family members decided to leave, Brookelyn chose to stay behind. The details surrounding the rest of the night remain a mystery, but it was around 4 a.m. the next day when Brookelyn sent text messages to friends saying she needed a ride home because she was “scared.” Police arrived at the party house several hours later. The host told police he had left the house in the morning to let some horses out. When he returned home he saw burn damage from a small fire but no sign of Brookelyn. A massive search was launched, but turned up little evidence. As of 2020, police have not named any persons of interest or suspects in the case. Brookelyn’s family has a website, findbrookefarthing.com, and has offered a $14,000 reward "for information leading to the return of Brookelyn Farthing or capture and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance." If you have any information regarding Brookelyn's case, you're urged to call the Kentucky State Police at (859) 623-2404.

Kentucky cold case: 2013 disappearance of Berea 18-year-old still a mystery

In the summer of 2013, an 18-year-old girl from Berea was dropped off at a party with her sister and cousin. Less than 12 hours later, she vanished.

According to Uncovered, Brookelyn Farthing had just graduated from high school and was said to be deciding between going to college or taking some time off. After June 22, 2013, Farthing would never be seen again.

According to Investigation Discovery, Farthing and the two men drove to a spot on Floyd Branch Road where Hensley was said to take care of horses. Shortly after, Hensley dropped off the other man and took Farthing back to his place.

Around 4 a.m., Paige was said to have texted her sister to ask for a ride home, but her sister didn’t have her license, and her cousin had been drinking, ID noted. Farthing later sent a string of troubling text messages to her ex-boyfriend, asking to be picked up, including “I’m scared” and “Please hurry.”

However, around 5:30 a.m., her last text to her ex-boyfriend said, “Never mind. I’m okay. I’m going to a party in Rockcastle County,” according to Uncovered. This was said to be the last time any of her loved ones heard from her.

ID noted that around 7 a.m., Hensley had arrived back at the residence after checking on some horses, and his home was on fire.

He claimed the last time he saw Farthing was when she was sitting on his couch smoking a cigarette.

On June 23, the day after she went missing, her mother filed a missing persons report and went to search Hensley’s home, where, Uncovered noted, her shoes and some personal items were found on the porch, but her clothes and phone were missing.

Two days later, it was said that her phone pinged off a tower in Blue Lick for the last time.

“My sister Brooke was a spunky, tell you how it is, loveable person. She loved animals and the outdoors. But she was a true girly girl, who loved pink and camouflage. She would do anything to help anyone. She had the sweetest deep long country-sounding voice you can only find in Kentucky. Not a day goes by I don’t wonder about her,” her older sister, Tasha, wrote on FindBrookeFarthing.

Since going missing, her case has been mentioned on an episode of ID and numerous podcasts.

To this day, her case remains unsolved. According to her missing person page, she stands 5 feet, 1 inch tall and has blonde hair with brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray FFA shirt and light blue jean shorts.

Anyone who might know anything related to her case is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police in Richmond. A $14,000 reward has been offered for information by the family.
