WACH FOX News sat down with Julie Jackson, a woman who looked after Aspen for a while.

”The most amazing smile ever, and even though she can’t communicate you can tell when she’s happy or when she’s sad", said Jackson, when describing what Aspen is like.

Jackson took in Aspen for almost one month while her mother Crystal, worked two jobs.

Aspen whereabouts are still unclear, but investigators believe she was last seen with her father, Antar Jeter.

Jackson says Aspen cant walk or talk and needs 24 hour assistance, and is hoping she is okay.

“It’s a job, it’s a 24 hour job", said Jackson. "You cannot leave her unattended. She could fall over if she’s rocking too hard. You have to watch her all the time.”

“I know Aspen is like a sweetheart, and her mom loved her. I think you need to let the people know she’s okay if you do have her.”

So they were living together at the time, but the father has another home? Which they didn't search until TODAY?

Father’s home visited in search for missing five-year-old, new insights from neighbors

Thursday the home of the father of a missing five-year-old child was visited by investigators.

Thursday a tip from a viewer led WIS’ Ashley Jones to what neighbor’s say is the home of Antar Jeter on Hulon Lane in West Columbia near the Lexington Medical Center.

During the press conference on Wednesday Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said he knew nothing about Antan Jeter’s residence in Lexington. A neighbor told Jones she’s tried repeatedly to speak with law enforcement but never heard back from investigators.

That changed Wednesday evening when the woman said law enforcement reached out and told her deputies would investigate the home.

At least one deputy from Orangeburg County was seen knocking on the doors Thursday. Neighbors that spoke with WIS said they believe Aspen is not in danger if she’s with her father and described him as a dedicated caregiver.

They also told Jones that he’d lost his job caring for her. Aspen is wheelchair-bound and cannot walk or talk. Neighbors said they were often spotted taking strolls through the neighborhood. After losing his job, Jeter allegedly would often ask for money to help feed her.

When asked about the relationship between himself and Aspen’s mother, Crystal Jumper,

“She used to live here with him years ago. I know that they split up she moved out and she moved back now we know to Orangeburg, but from my understanding, she spent a few nights with him here a few weeks ago in October and she was you know here and there, but mainly it was just him and his daughter.”

The last time the neighbor saw him at the home in Lexington was the week of Thanksgiving before Jumper’s body was discovered in Orangeburg.

The current timeline of events in the case:
  • Nov 1. : The last time Jumper was seen alive
  • Nov. 24: During a welfare check deputies discovered Jumper’s body inside of her home in Orangeburg County. Aspen was not inside.
  • Nov. 25: The public was asked to assist in locating Aspen.
  • Nov. 28: An incident report revealed Jumper and Jeter were living together and did not get along. The report also said she’d been shot.
  • Nov. 30. Officials identify Antar Jeter as the one believed to be with Aspen.

I'll tell you these LE agencies missing tips or ignoring them or people that call in seems to be a lot more frequent than it should be. Unbelievable yet again. And he had a residence they didn't know of?

This does sound as if he was a dedicated father. However, if he killed the mother, he isn't too trustworthy...

An autopsy determined Jumper was shot in the chest by someone else, Ravenell said.

Jeter currently is charged only with taking Jumper’s vehicle from her home. Family members said he was staying with Jumper the last time they heard from her.

“He may give some information about the homicide. We want to talk to him about that,” the sheriff said.

“We just didn’t sit around not doing anything,” the sheriff said. “We’ve been criticized by social media and different people, but I don’t take that personally.”

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCSC) - The family of a missing girl from Orangeburg is hoping someone will recognize her and notify authorities so she can come home safe.

Aspen Jeter, 5, is missing from the home she shared with her mother, Crystal Jumper, 46, whose body was discovered in the home during a welfare check on Thanksgiving Day. While investigating Jumper’s death, authorities realized there was no sign of the child.

The child’s father, 46-year-old Antar Antonio Jeter, is also missing, deputies say.

The child’s uncle, Paulus Jumper, Crystal Jumper’s brother, stood with family attorney Justin Bamberg and Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell Monday morning at a news conference during which Bamberg, speaking for the family, pleaded for her safe return.

“Something happened before Thanksgiving, and it’s very, very tragic,” Bamberg said. But right now, the number one priority is the safety of both Aspen and Mr. Jeter.”

Bamberg said Aspen Jeter suffers from a condition known as Neurodevelopmental Disorder with or without Autistic Features and/or Structural Brain Abnormalities.

“What that means is Aspen is not able to talk, she’s not able to move on her own,” Bamberg said. “So if you were to spot her, oftentimes she’s either being carried by her parents or she’s being pushed in a stroller. She’s not going to be able to speak to you.”

Bamberg also sent a message to Aspen’s father.
“Mr. Jeter, we understand how much you love your daughter,” he said. “I think by all accounts, everybody knows and then the pictures that have circulated with a smile on your face, Mr. Jeter, and the smile on Aspen’s face. It’s very, very, very clear that your daughter loves you and you love her and we know that you would never do anything to hurt her. But it’s not safe to just be out here.”

He said Jeter does not need to feel afraid to come back to Orangeburg or call the authorities or Bamberg’s law firm.

“We just want what’s best for you and Aspen, and that is, right now, making sure that you both are safe,” Bamberg said. “You know, Crystal, isn’t here. And that’s, that’s very, very sad in and of itself, although it doesn’t mean that this situation has to get any sadder.”

Antar Antonio Jeter, 46, was taken into custody and deputies have issued a warrant for his arrest related to death of Jumper.

I AM SO GLAD! I had little hope for her being with her father that killed her mother. If he has fits of rage like that, Abuse often happens. And sometimes resulting in death. That's what I expected. I hope she will have no memories of seeing her mother deceased.

5-year-old Aspen Jeter finally back home with family

Family members are praising Aspen Jeter's return home after she was taken hundreds of miles away in the wake of her mother's murder.

Pauley Jumper said it's exactly what he's been praying for. He and his family now have 5-year-old Aspen back in their custody.

Pauley, Crystal's brother, said that once she was found, it wasn't easy getting her back in South Carolina.

"Definitely a lot of paperwork for sure, phone calls and doctor's appointments," he said.

Now, Jumper says that Aspen is living with his son and daughter-in-law. He said it's been a new challenge taking care of Aspen, but a challenge they are grateful to take on.

"It's life-changing for them. She needs 24-hour care so it's a challenge," he said. "But we're going to win it. She's in therapy and she's getting better."

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A murder suspect is back in South Carolina after being extradited in a case that sparked a nationwide hunt for a missing girl.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said 47-year-old Antar Jeter was extradited Tuesday from Virginia, where he was found last month.

Jeter is charged with murder in the shooting death of 46-year-old Crystal Jumper, whose body was found in her Louise Drive home on Thanksgiving Day. The West Columbia man is also charged with grand larceny in the theft of Jumper’s vehicle.

He was missing for weeks after the death, as was Aspen Jeter, the young daughter he had with Jumper.

Aspen was eventually found safe, and her father was taken into custody Dec. 9 in Danville, Va.
