Search underway for missing pregnant woman in Houston
Crews are searching Houston neighborhoods for a 23‑year‑old pregnant woman reported missing last week.Houston police and Texas EquuSearch are part of the investigation.
By foot and ATV, searchers are looking for any clue that can lead them to Ashanti Allen, who is about eight months pregnant.
Ashanti was last seen at an apartment complex off Main Street near NRG Stadium. Family members told Ruiz they received a strange text from her in the middle of the night, saying she was not coming back.
They said it was odd because she left all her belongings at the apartment, including items for the baby.
Miller said she was having a lot of difficulties in her pregnancy and did not have her own car.
Ashanti was last seen in her mother’s vehicle, which has since been recovered and is now in police custody.
Miller said his crews are searching empty fields near her home.
“Not because we have good information, areas we are searching. There have been bodies dumped in that area before,” he said.
Still, they are holding on to hope they can find her alive and bring her home.
“We believe in miracles. We have many of them. The miracle would be if we can get her back alive,” Miller said.
We reached out to HPD to find out who dumped the vehicle and where it was found, but the police could not release additional information.
Court records show Ashanti was a victim in a family‑violence case a few months ago with a man she was dating. Police could not confirm at this moment if he is involved in her disappearance.
