Police: 4-year-old Everett boy may be missing under ‘suspicious circumstances’

Police in Everett are looking for a 4-year-old boy who was last seen Wednesday morning.

Ariel Garcia is Hispanic with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 3 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 37 pounds. There is no description of what he was wearing.

The Washington State Patrol issued an endangered missing person alert.

He was last seen around 7 a.m. Wednesday in an apartment in the 4800 block of Vesper Drive. Everett police cruisers were seen outside the apartment building and there is crime scene tape in the courtyard. Officers were inside a unit processing evidence. They have since left.

Everett Police officers and search and rescue teams are looking for the child, who may be missing under suspicious circumstances after leaving the apartment with a family member.

Police say he may be in danger. Officers have been communicating with his mother and family.

Mother accused of killing 4-year-old son deemed fit for trial in Snohomish County
Janet Garcia, accused of stabbing and killing her 4-year-old son, Ariel Garcia, will stand trial after a court decision confirmed her mental fitness.

The trial is scheduled to begin on Aug. 22, more than a year after the initial target date.

From her first court appearance, Garcia has maintained her innocence, pleading "not guilty." Her defense team argues that the case is not straightforward.

"To categorize this as brutal and cold-hearted is incorrect. This is not what happened in this case," they said.

Prosecutors, however, claim Garcia changed her story multiple times. An examination of Ariel revealed he suffered a sustained and savage attack.

"The number of stab wounds here indicate that this occurred in a prolonged period of time," prosecutors said.

Well I know when to get a break especially from the child ones and I am there. Just been trying to catch up some. Sometimes the details are just too much.

Prolonged. Sustained. Savage.

It's one thing for someone to maybe lose it for a minute but not do something like this over as they say a prolonged period of time.

That's probably enough for me for now.
