JUST BEING "BROTHERLY"?More of interest on that one too that I just linked.. The whole thing is only 10 minutes long... Suggest a watch...
Things like he knocked too late at night, dad saying he is just being brotherly, etc... On her SM I gather...
I think that's who I am most angry at is bio Dad. He put his own wants/ needs far ahead those of his children, it seems. The way he and his family are acting is so bizarre.Anna'a bio-mom may not have stepped up to the plate to care for Anna, but she sure shouldn't have had to "sneak" to go to Anna's funeral! Anna's dad doesn't sound like a father who made choices in the best interest of his daughter - from what I'm reading in these recent reports. I had a situation with a flake of a father, but I still allowed him visitation, even when it needed to be supervised. And child support? I rec'd $100 total. (He is now deceased).
Okay, down from my soapbox.

Anna Kepner’s mom questions slain teen’s sleeping arrangement with stepbrother now eyed in her cruise death
Heather Wright, who had been estranged from her daughter for several years, spoke out after authorities formally ruled the girl’s death a homicide.www.aol.com
“They said I never went, but I did,” said Wright, who lives in Oklahoma.
“I didn’t want to be seen, so I made sure no one seen me — plus they can’t stop me from going anyway, even though Chris said he would have me arrested for back child support.”
Threatening the back child support in lieu of going to her daughter's funeral spoke VOLUMES to me.I think that's who I am most angry at is bio Dad. He put his own wants/ needs far ahead those of his children, it seems. The way he and his family was6 acting is so bizarre.
I've been in a similar situation as well. Not the loss of a child, but You don't stop a parent from attending the funeral or service for their child no matter how mad you are at the other parent for not paying support, etc. They are two different things entirely. You don't refuse visitation either over it, etc.Anna'a bio-mom may not have stepped up to the plate to care for Anna, but she sure shouldn't have had to "sneak" to go to Anna's funeral! This is good news. Thank you for finding it and the update. The judge is not going to put a gag order on the 5th Dec custody hearing.
The Brief
ORLANDO, Fla. - A newly issued ruling is poised to open a window into the final hours of 18-year-old Anna Kepner's life.
- A judge has refused to seal a custody case linked to the investigation into 14-year-old Anna Kepner’s death aboard a cruise ship.
- The decision means Anna’s father may be required to testify, potentially shedding light on the circumstances of her death.
- Her family hopes the Dec. 5 hearing will finally provide long-sought answers.
With a judge refusing to seal a related custody case, family members hope long-withheld details about her death aboard a cruise ship will finally come to light.
What we know
Anna Kepner was found dead earlier this month while on a family cruise with her father, stepmother and siblings. Her 16-year-old stepbrother has been named as a suspect in the case, and federal investigators are treating her death as a homicide, according to court filings.
A Brevard County judge ruled this week that the custody case involving Anna’s stepmother and her ex-husband will remain open to the public—meaning Anna’s father, Christopher Kepner, may be required to testify.
Family members say he previously told them that Anna was rooming with her stepbrother on the ship.
What we don't know
The teen’s death certificate does not list a cause of death, and authorities have released no official narrative of what occurred inside the cabin where she was staying.

It remains unclear whether her stepbrother will face criminal charges, and investigators have not publicly explained what evidence led them to label him a suspect.
Anna’s maternal relatives say they have received little information from law enforcement, including updates on the timeline of the investigation.
The backstory
Tension between the branches of Anna’s family predates the case. Her aunt, Krystal Wright, says she did not see Anna frequently growing up due to conflict between Anna’s biological mother and father, though they remained in contact by phone and through Anna’s cousin.
The current legal proceeding is a custody battle between Anna’s stepmother and her ex-husband, but the hearing is expected to surface new details about the cruise and Anna’s final hours because her father has been ordered to appear.
Timeline
Anna died earlier this month during the family vacation. Court documents identifying her stepbrother as a suspect surfaced soon after, followed by a request from her stepmother to seal the custody case and block media access.

The judge denied that request on Wednesday. The custody hearing—where Anna’s father is expected to testify—is set for Dec. 5.
What they're saying
Her aunt, Krystal Wright, describes the uncertainty as an unending emotional strain.
"It’s a constant like mind game… just wondering all day, you know… constantly getting online looking to see if news comes to light."
She remembers Anna as resilient and spirited.
"She was a very outgoing person. She always had a great outlook… no matter what the situation was."
And she questions the pace of the investigation.
"They’re really quiet. They don’t say anything. My sister can’t even get any information from them," said Wright. "We don't understand why if the boy is a suspect, why he hasn't been charged yet? What’s happening there?"

Hope you had a good day. Are you bringing your cats home? This is good news. Thank you for finding it and the update.
It doesn't say a lot about the judge's decision or his reasoning but that will probably come. I didn't actually go into the link though. It's almost 1 a.m. and I won't catch up if I do that and I have to get to bed here at some point.
I figured the decision would go this way with the Sunshine laws but I did worry since he is a minor maybe things said re children and him as a suspect might be a reason for sealing, due to it relating to minors. I'm glad that apparently was not an issue. I'm in agreement with the decision.
Cats are home, happy to say! The holiday was very nice, but the trips were not. Trip down had bad roads due to weather. Trip back, my God the traffic was heavy and many absolutely IDIOT drivers but roads were clear. Hadn't been "home" in a year, year and a half? So it was a mixed trip. Note, yesterday was Black Friday and the holiday weekend I am sure played into the traffic.Hope you had a good day. Are you bringing your cats home?
With the new info that the younger brother was locked out of the room and slept in the grandparents room then the 16 year old has no alibi, being locked in with her the whole time and her date of death now announced as the 6th.
Yeah, they are supposed to be pretty quiet because of minors being the subject of the court proceeding.Never heard of an open custody court proceeding.
I've never heard of one that is closed to the public.Never heard of an open custody court proceeding.
Not sure the stepmother should not be charged as well. Agree on the father. And I don't say that lightly but from all indications he wanted to save a buck and \Anna was telling him of issues with the stepbrother.I think it is pretty clear what happened. She didnt put herself under the bed and cover herself with lifejackets. This 16yo has problems and they should not have been in a bedroom together. He should be in custody and the father should be charged too.
I bet they won't now be making it an annual thing after all. It's a tragedy that will be with them forever, especially if the stepbrother is convicted. Not sure the stepmother should not be charged as well. Agree on the father. And I don't say that lightly but from all indications he wanted to save a buck and \Anna was telling him of issues with the stepbrother.
I don't like how the grandparents look at this either--while maybe not at fault, did this entire family think those two sharing a room was a good idea for God's sake? And a "normal" decision to make? I don't think most people concur. And most people would never decide the same.
