ANNA KEPNER: Teen found dead on Carnival cruise ship *ARREST!* (10 Viewers)

This tells me that all the kids had a room together.

The young child noticed Kepner was not in the room when they returned but assumed she was up late with other family members, the Daily Mail reported.
What I also just realized from reading that link is that evidently a NINE year old was very possibly out running around, unescorted on that ship at night!

I believe it's been established that the two teen boys and Anna shared a cabin together. She was in a regular bed and they were in bunk beds. I'll look for a link.

What's hard for me to understand is how her body was under a bed (not sure which one) and no one smelled any blood? Or do we even know her manner of death?

Here's the article about who was staying in the same room:
Kepner was staying in the same room as her stepbrother and one other stepsibling.
Doesn't have to be blood there if strangled or smothered.

If there was blood, I would think they would have seen it elsewhere in the room before they would smell it.

Yeah, I was thinking she had been stabbed, but I'm probably thinking of another case. I didn't find a cause of death when I was searching around just now.

I would think if there would have been blood, the youngest at least would have noticed in the morning before housekeeping came in. Not a lot of ways to clean up a bloody crime scene very well while stuck on a ship.

The 16-year-old was hospitalized “immediately after the incident” for an undisclosed reason, according to Athanason, and is now living with one of his mother’s relatives.

Shauntel Kepner indicated her 16-year-old son “has a psychiatrist appointment” early next month, but did not elaborate after the judge cautioned the mother not to speak without first seeking advice from her attorney.

My guess is a hellova panic attack or suicide attempt.

NOW I know where I got the idea that she was stabbed. There's reports that Anna said she was scared of her step-brother because he carried a big knife around with him.

Well surveillance footage shows her returning to her cabin, then her brothers returning. The youngest brother leaves, leaving Anna alone with the older boy.
When the younger brother returns, Anna is no longer there, but there is no footage of her leaving.

Consider the sources though, I guess. The Sun, Daily Mail, and New York Post are tabloids.

The night before she was found dead, Kepner told her family she wasn’t feeling well after dinner and returned to her cabin.

The FBI obtained footage from inside the vessel that showed Kepher walking as she headed back to her room, according to the outlet.

A short while later, the minors also reportedly returned to the cabin.

Footage reportedly captured the youngest sibling leaving the room and wandering the vessel, capturing photos.

The young child noticed Kepner was not in the room when they returned but assumed she was up late with other family members, the Daily Mail reported.

However, when the family gathered for breakfast on the morning of November 7, Kepner never showed.

I'd seen comments saying the younger brother was out on deck taking pics or something but had no idea where people were getting such info as the FBI has been mum and the famiy had not said so.

I haven't read the links yet but will do next so the feds have a leak it would seem. Not sure about the others but Daily Mail I know pays so I am not surprised.

It's likely true then and it does fit with how it seems things likely were.

So the parents weren't supervising the 14 year old either. No kid should be wandering a huge ship alone either, even a teenager.

I've said before that if I found they shared a room I'd have a LOT to say about these parents. I am trying to stop myself from going off about it...

STUPID. How damned DUMB are they?

There’s so much dysfunction in these families.

In the first obituary the second wife (stepmother) Tabitha was listed as her mother. She was the one that helped raise Anna.

The biological mother comes to light and the obituary is rewritten listing Heather, as her mother. There is no mention of Tabitha or her family in the second obituary.

There’s a third rewrite removing the step-sibling (suspect) from the obituary.

The uncle said she was beaten but doesn't mean it was the cause of death. Most are guessing strangling. Wouldn't be any blood possibly with either of these things. And I don't think a body would smell that fast would it...? Plus she was wrapped in a blanket.

On something I was watching this morning, a cop said it was smart to put them in a hospital for mental illness, etc. immediately to help with a defense. He also may very well need it, hard to say...

Coming across as extremely dysfunctional for sure. Saw someone this morning call the dad a marriage hopper. So they put her killer (alleged) in the obit and then took h im out??

Either way, it seems none of the kids were being supervised. There seems to have been no good choices made by these two parents at all on this trip. I do not blame the boy's dad being so irate with just the few things are being reported.
I don't disagree. It seems there was NO supervision of any kind. Also you can't supervise what kids are doing in a room they share when you are NOT IN IT yourself. I am so angry about that. I suspected it but confirmation of it is just wow, such a STUPID irresponsible thing to do.

It is very clear none of these kids had stable unbringings or home lives.

I guess I should state that it's obvious that on THAT particular night/morning the kids had little to no supervision on that ship.

Has it been stated which night of the cruise this happened?
