IL DONNA JEAN MEZO: Missing from Belleville, IL - 18 Feb 1992 - Age 16

Donna Jean Mezo was from Crocker, Pulaski County, Missouri. She was visiting her brother in Belleville, Illinois. Her brother was taking her home to Crocker, MO on 19 Feb 1992. Donna wanted to see her boyfriend, Jeffrie Mezo (no blood relation - he was adopted into the family) before going home to Crocker. Donna was last seen at approximately 1:30 am, walking on East Monroe St, in Belleville, IL, to meet Jeffrie at a fast food restaurant. Donna never made it to the restaurant. Jeffrie said he did not see her that night/morning. Jeffrie passed a lie detector test.

Donna was 16 years old at the time of her disappearance. She was also pregnant.

Four months later, Jeffrie Mezo was found dead of a gunshot wound near a park. Police found a suicide note. The gun used to kill Jeffrie was found in a pond 3’ from where his body was found.

I’d love to see the note that Jeffrie left behind. That would really help me in determining whether or not he was involved.

Strange. Clearly he most likely did not kill himself if no gun was near him but that is one stupid perp if that is the case to think a suicide note would indicate suicide with no weapon near him.

I guess it is possible someone took the gun to mess with things or mess with LE and threw it. It is also possible the victim shot himself, threw the gun and then staggered to where he was found and died. I don't think either though are likely and LE would determine that one would think.

Yes
No weapon near him to me means no suicide. Maybe the note was they were running off together.

I thought too of a family member of hers who thinks/thought he killed her/got her pregnant taking "justice" into his own hands... .
