That case has crossed my mind with this. I think it is probably very similar with the outrage and people almost "camped" out there yelling, etc. It may be a bit different in that at times it does seem a Youtuber or two get involved with it with more of the intent to get views, attention and help their channel. JMO and not all, but a few. The thing that is hard to understand is they yell about the grandparents not searching and yet they are not either, they are standing there yelling about it. I don't know... I guess I see nothing productive in it.
It isn’t productive at all. You’re right.

Siblings of Orrin and Orson West in foster care; judge to determine adoptive parents’ custody

It’s been 50 days since 3-year-old Orson and 4-year-old Orrin West were reported missing in California City.

The adoptive parents of the two boys – Trezell and Jacqueline West – are cooperating with police, but not speaking to the public. Jon Walker – the Chief of Police in California City – says they’re staying in Bakersfield. The West parents have four other kids – two biological, and two adopted. The Chief of Police says these kids are in protective custody.

“In child protective services, protective custody means they’re place in a foster home,” said Jana Slagle, a spokesperson from the Department of Human Services in Kern County. “They’re removed from their family with the allegation of abuse or neglect, and placed in a foster home.”

I have seen it bad but never have I seen anything like this. People are twisting and stating things as fact in this case in ways that are crazy. I must be at the end of my patience in about all ways. I am ready to start telling people off and tell them how stupid their theories are and that is so much NOT ME. I am always JUST the opposite. Not only commenters but there are Youtubers that I feel should very possibly be shut down because it is very possibly going to have a real negative effect on this case or any future prosecution. Probably FB too, I don't follow that but have seen enough that has come from there to YT. I swear there are at least a couple that are planting evidence or claiming to have seen things that cannot be confirmed EVER and they keep doing it and people are eating it up and thinking they are just great and solving the case. A few are new and are raking it in doing this. Then there are just the dumb ones. Six weeks in or whatever and the same ones keep asking the same questions that anyone with a lick of common sense knows no one has the answers to or can answer. When were the boys last seen by a doctor? What did the other kids tell the cops? Uhm, HIPPA, CPS and minor children?? And people have said this to these people over and over and over. No one has that information and LE certainly is not going to tell anyone.

The couple of sane Youtubers are great but even then all of this stuff comes over into their chats and comments because everyone is taking this false sh*t and stating it now as fact everywhere. I have watched about everything and these things are not fact.

I am only mentioning it here I guess because first I am worried what it will do to the case and second, I can see this one and this time stopping LE from EVER sharing anything ever again because even that is entirely twisted. Plus I needed a sane place. :(

these cases sure bring out the crazies!

I agree. Never seen it this bad though. Not on YT anyhow. Also, the Chief seems to have quit talking where he was giving interviews fairly regularly which was a nice switch from most silent cases. Not sure why but every time he does they twist his words.

One example was they had not named any suspects he said. Would you believe that some Youtubers said he stated that the adopted parents were NOT suspects?? That is a MINOR example. A recent example of a news story twist was they took a CPS lady who stressed she was talking about fostering and removing children generally and what it takes to get them back, etc. and stated the APs are trying to get their other children back which then turned into they are going to get their other children back, oh no, that's not right, that can't happen. These are very minor examples. It is far worse than that.

On YouTube? I didn't dare, I would like the local PD to share more Info, but I guess they are afraid to worsen the situation...
Wise move. Pretty crazy although there are a few really good ones who just stick mostly to the facts of the case. You can watch without logging in which is what I often do, then I am not tempted to react to some of the comments lol.

I hope the sheriff comes out again but the other thing was that reporter's comment that stated he said the other four kids said they last saw the boys on the 19th and I truly do not believe the sheriff said that. As Kdg said, they took that now out of the article. However, because it was in mainstream news people take it as gospel and in that case it is easier to understand them doing that. Right after that I think he was to be on DutyRon and then DR said the Chief was swamped with the case and meetings and city board or city some such (paraphrasing) and it was going to be awhile before he had time to come on. He hasn't spoken since to my knowledge. Not sure if that was the reason but I would not doubt it. He may have well been advised to not say any more since things keep getting twisted or words put in his mouth he never said though is my thought.

I knew they did this but I see they even got the reward updated on it. DutyRon just announced donating the $2,000 this weekend, now making it $122,000.

California City toddlers still missing after 8 weeks, no suspect or person of interest

Monday marks eight weeks since 3-year-old Orson and 4-year-old Orrin West were reported missing in California City.

The California City Police Department confirmed Monday, there is still no physical evidence of a crime.

Klaas said he sympathizes with the Kern County community as it took 65 days for authorities to find a major break in his daughter's case.

Currently, the missing toddler brothers are the youngest of 31 other missing children listed on the California Attorney General's website.

Both the extended biological and adoptive families of the boys have been hoping for the best outcome in the case.

"We just want them home, safe and sound and we're going to keep hope," Rosanna Wills, a biological family member said on Sunday.

KGET.com exclusive: Interview with the California City police chief on Orrin and Orson West disappearance

In an exclusive interview with 17’s Perla Shaheen, California City Chief of Police Jon Walker talked about the investigation of missing brothers Orrin and Orson West.

Q: Are the boys alive?

A: California City Chief of Police, Jon Walker: I have no reason to believe they’re not at this time. I’ve said it through this whole thing I remain absolutely optimistic that they are alive and I have to believe that unless I find some sort of proof or evidence that is different.

Q: And what might’ve happened to the boys, what scenarios are possible in this situation?

A: There’s 1,000 different scenarios. Let your imagination run wild. What I do truly believe: that night there’s no way that they could have got out of that neighborhood without some sort of assistance from an adult, that is my belief.

Q: And I remember that, again referring to that first interview with you, you said how none of the neighbors in that area had seen the boys.

A: I think I amended that. Because we did have some neighbors that said they had never even seen kids. But remember, the Wests had only been there for three months, September to December, when it occurred. We did find some neighbors that had said they had never seen the kids. However we did find neighbors who confirmed that they did see kids there on the property.

Q: Is there video footage of that shows the boys in California City? I know the neighbor across the street had a doorbell camera. I know the neighbor to the left of the house, if you’re facing the house to the left, also had surveillance footage of the house. I know police took that footage and analyzed it. Was there any footage that shows the two boys?

A: We have hours of footage and I cannot comment on any of those, on any of that.

Q: Lastly what can community members do to help in the search right now? Should they be searching in Bakersfield? California City?
A: Wherever they think we’re going to turn up these kids I’m not going to turn down. I’ve said it multiple times I’m not going to turn down any help. Anything they want to do to help us locate these kids is great, but the majority of the calls that we’re getting now are basically to tell us that we’re not doing it right. That takes up a lot of our time to even respond to that. I appreciate their interest, that’s why I keep giving these interviews, I don’t want people to stop thinking about these kids and I don’t want it to become a dead issue. I would like the focus to be on finding the kids. What can you give us that we can tangibly follow up on to find these children? To call us up and criticize that we’re not doing a good job or we should be talking to someone else or we should be doing this or we should be doing that, it’s not productive. It takes time because we try to be respectful and kind to anybody that calls. But just remember the focus should be on finding the kids not telling us how to do her job so that would be my biggest request keep your eyes and ears open. If you find anything that we can follow up on please call, we will follow up I promise we have on each and every one of these tangible leads. But to just call us up and criticize us and ask us, that just takes a lot of time and it just is taking away the focus from the kids.

I like how this department handles the public outcry. They understand people are upset about the missing boys and try to direct the focus on where it could help find them.

The Chief makes himself available and comes out to the public, and I will definitely give him that. It is clear though or seems to be we are going to hear nothing of substance he can share. Whether that means they just can't share anything or they have little to go on thus far and no direction or no case that is being built, I don't know.

He/they are taking a lot of flack and trashing online and it sounds like over the phone and some in the area as well... I think it helps absolutely nothing and is uncalled for.

I have to go back and look because I saw different interviews last night or maybe I should say one had more content with the Chief and one was just part of the entire interview... I also saw that the interview with him or some part of it was taken down allegedly by one news site and disappeared, not sure what that was about and maybe it was put back up later and was just some site blip or reason, I am not sure, haven't had time to check it out.

As for content, this interview did not give me as much hope they are heading in any direction at all compared to earlier ones. In fact, it seemed more vague than ever, a dozen possible POIs, etc. Well I take that to mean little other than yes, that many to look at probably from adoptive to bio to sex offenders, to known abductor, to unknown abductor, etc. and yet, the remark makes it sound as if they just don't have a clue who, how, why...

I guarantee you that remark about a dozen or more POIs will now have some of the same people out there convinced this means it is a sex trafficking ring, a child abduction ring, a big circle of people that did this, etc. While it could be, I don't lean that way, but my point I guess is that those that want to believe that jump to crazy conclusions with remarks like these EVEN as they trash LE, they will likely take that remark and believe it to mean that and run with it. It's crazy "out there". Imho.

Yeah, this is what I suspected. California City can't find any evidence that the boys ever made it there!

Wow. I have stayed very well informed on this case but am behind on the things out there after being gone this weekend. This seems pretty significant, both that it is now Bakersfield AND they are looking back a year which is very much what many suspected, including myself...
