CO SEBASTIAN CASTRO: Missing from Eagle, CO - 5 June 2020 - Age 3 *Found Deceased*

I mean...the most logical and most likely scenario is that he ended up in the river. A young child, alone, with autism, and items he was carrying and that were on his person were found in the river.
Yes, other scenarios are possible. At the same Eagle County PIO link I posted above it states " Authorities continue to investigate all leads that may help them locate the missing 3-year-old boy."
They're looking into everything. But focusing on the most likely scenario.
Yes, probably true and agree it is the most likely, but a few recent cases bother me that were drownings as we know, three off of the top of my head. I missed the part about them continuing to investigate all leads, thanks for that. I guess also the quietness always makes me wonder in some respects. I hope they find him is the bottom line, alive would be great, but that looks highly unlikely.

Search for missing 3-year-old in Eagle County enters new phase

The search for a missing 3-year-old in Eagle County shifted from a more widespread search of nearby land and water, to targeted and precise locations along the Eagle River.

Doug Cupp, Fire Chief for the Greater Eagle Fire District, said helicopters helped in the search on Monday. Unfortunately, even with clear conditions, they did not find any new clues into Castro’s case.

Cupp was asked about statements made by Castro’s father last week. His father, Manuel Rodriguez, told our news partners at Univision he did not believe his son ended up at the Eagle River located nearby the apartment where his family lives.

According to Cupp, the evidence they have so far points to the river. Last week they found a cellphone near the river that belongs to Castro’s mom, but the parents confirmed the little boy had with him when he disappeared. They also found one of Castro’s shoes in the river.

“Those types of clues kind of tell us that is at least a priority, but we never stop looking at info from the parents and the family,” said Cupp.

He said although the search might appear to be winding down, he said it is more of a shift on intensifying efforts to what he referred to as “probability areas.”

Where is Sebastian?: Nonverbal tot still missing, dad says he ‘must have jumped’ from apartment balcony

Officials are still looking for 3-year-old Sebastian Castro Rivas, who disappeared from his Colorado home nearly three weeks ago.

Sebastian’s father, Manuel Rodriguez, spoke to Univision earlier this month, according to Fox 31, and claimed Sebastian may have jumped from an upstairs apartment balcony.

Rodriguez said that at one point, Sebastian was alone at the apartment after returning home from the park with his mother.

“He never goes to the balcony when it’s night time, but he did and must have jumped,” Rodriquez said.

Searchers found a cellphone Sebastian listens to music on by the river, along with a shoe that the family confirmed belongs to Sebastian.

was alone at the apartment after returning home from the park with his mother
Where did his mother go? He was seen alone at the park. Any chance he never came home? Makes more sense than jumping from an upstairs balcony...

Has anyone been able to find any pictures of this "balcony" or how high it was? I have a lot of trouble picturing a 3-year-old jumping off an "upstairs balcony" which implies it's at least 10-feet high.

So far, I'm convinced Sebastian is in the river and probably got there on his own. But some of this isn't making sense.

I'm not sure about the on his own part. I'm not even sure if he's actually IN the river. The story is definitely not making sense with the information we have been given.

The balcony is on the 2nd floor.

So...balcony's in most buildings like his have a sort of barrier. It looks like these do too. A little guard-rail thingy. Was theirs broken? How would he have climbed over it?

I wouldn't even jump off of a second floor balcony without a very good reason. I do wonder if he had a history of doing that? Because I can't picture a toddler willfully jumping off the second story, NOT hurting himself, and then continuing to play.

So now it's the first floor deck... May be a language barrier here.

Where is Sebastian?: Nonverbal tot still missing, sister says he left from first-floor deck with cellphone [Exclusive]

CrimeOnline spoke exclusively Jackie Rodriquez, the sister of missing 3-year-old Colorado boy, Castro Rivas. Rodriquez cleared up discrepancies regarding how and when her brother disappeared.

According to Rodriquez, Sebastian left home from their first-floor apartment in Eagle, Colorado, at the Eagle Villas Apartment complex.

Previous local reports indicated that the boy jumped from a balcony at the apartment complex, but Rodriquez explained it was actually a deck and a fenced area his father had built for him.

“We live in the first floor, there’s a built-in fence my dad made for him for him not to get out,” Rodriquez said. “There’s a satélite dish that he uses for leverage so he can climb out and run for the park that’s next to us.”

I haven't been on for awhile and I am just catching up and seeing the story is changing. I did not doubt he may have been and may still be in the river and that there was no foul play but I could not put to rest lingering possibilities on the lack of more information. I figured I was reaching.

So now we have him home alone for a moment and dad was not there at least that point nor dad either..

The one mention some time back of the balcony I did not like. Right now I am sitting right next to mine. I thought well maybe, but I just did not see it as likely. And he is 3. I sit here right at this moment and he would have to have a chair is my guess and they may well have one out there, it is balcony. Get on that, move it if necessary, and grab a corner post on one end hang onto it and still get up on the top of the balcony rail. Now mine has a few inch flat top deck rail so while hanging onto a post it could be done most likely. However, I have seen apartment balconies with just an iron or metal rail that has no width at all. None, zilch.

Already I just am not buying it explaining this. Now he still has to jump. I can't see it.

I only say this and I am sure others know but because I live in an apartment here and I can look and really try to picture it. And to add to that, I am on the second floor, the lowest balcony in an apartment building, first floor are patios, and ground level. Already too this is likely more time than the parents being gone a second or minute. Snitty jumped off of it when we were moving me in and found it was a bit more of a jump than he expected. THAT is another story. He is a cat he survived. shook himself off looked around like to see wear he wanted to go explore first. DARNED cats.

Ya all have seen me long enough by now to realize I am up and can't sleep and can go on. It distracts me from other thoughts.

But I'll cut to this, the first mention early on and it was just a he did not think it likely but perhaps he went off the balcony, and i think it was the dad. Way back when I jutst figured he was trying to figure himself how he got out, a desperate parent not knowing what happened so put that possibility out there to help LE in any way...

But now with more of this, I think what may likely be going on is cops are facing them with videos of what they have found and maybe saying he is not on them and they are covering and were then the possibility of the balcony worrying where surveillance cameras may be...

One other last thing about almost are apartments are there are only two ways to get out, your front door and your balcony and if you are not on first floor with a patio, the balcony is not used for people coming in and out. So the parents have to fit it to one of two possibilities if their story from the start was he got out somehow from the apartment.

I know everyone knows this and am not providing info about apartments all don't know but I sit here as I read the post I am responding to (haven't read the rest yet) but I am looking right at my balcony and putting these thoughts together and picturing such a thing. I believe even a 12 year old would more likely than not if not break a leg or arm or such would at least have a serious sprain and pain. Stranger things have happened and young children are especially resilient but the balcony is out for me. amger

Okay, I guess I should have read further before posting my lengthy post above. Who calls a first floor patio a balcony? Maybe I should blame the media.

Quote from this article in this post: indicated that the boy jumped from a balcony at the apartment complex

Who would read that and think someone jumped from a ground level floor? Arghh.

He MAY be in the river but I am not buying he ended up there by himself. Not accusing, not sure, but the story smells. I did not like from back when the cell phone was found on day two where a search had centered on that very same area on day one. Can that happen, sure. But.... I couldn't help but think if someone knew they would not find the body so needed to give indication he was in the river... Someone, even an abductor, not even saying the parents. I mean this child could have been snatched off the playground. Seems unlikely to me that someone would just be lingering around at 9 at night a playground hoping a child would come out alone though.

So a 3 year old is allowed to climb out and run to the park at will? An autistic 3 year old???

That struck me too and if they knew he was using the satellite dish as a "wedge" as they call it, for how long? Whey not add height to the fence or otherwise correct it? I do not like judging parents, none of us are perfect and I never raised an Autistic child but their son is missing, they have made a few statements, well the father has. Has the mother said a word? And those statements bring some alarm bells.

One thing I caught that I may be wrong about and with reporting it is hard to say, but it sounds like grandpa built the fence in one of the above articles. Nothing wrong with that, my dad built my children may things. And helped do many such things. Nothing that matters most likely at all, just something that I noticed.

I haven't heard or seen any commentary from the mother. Any hope I had is now slipping away for a safe return.

I didn't think so. Not even from the start of please, please find my son.

I have had little hope since anything of his was found or in the river. I did think that could always be staged though or LE pointed in that direction. While it could be an abduction, I do not see that either, it just is unlikely in this case I feel.

Sheriff: Child’s Body Found In Eagle River

A child’s body was found Friday afternoon in the Eagle River between Eagle and Dotsero.

The body has not been identified. The Coroner’s Office is expected to release more information next week.

Unknown child's body recovered from river in Colorado

The Eagle County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a child's body in the Eagle River on Friday afternoon.

According to the official press release, the body of an unknown deceased child was reported at about 2:30 p.m. in the river just east of Dotsero.

A report from KUSA says the body was found by an individual who was operating a watercraft on the river.

The body was recovered in the same area where authorities and hundreds of volunteers have been searching for a missing 3-year-old boy. It's unclear whether the body found is that of Sebastian Castro who was reported missing on June 5.

The identification and cause of death are pending with the Eagle County Coroner’s Office.

So sorry to read this, but of course it was the most probable scenario. While I don't want to torture grieving parents, I think that an ongoing thorough investigation into the when and how is nessecary. Fly high, little Sebastian.
I have to agree. This needs a thorough investigation which I imagine and hope has been and is ongoing. Sadly, there are some serious and legitimate questions here. I don't doubt LE knows more but I await the conclusions they have, video and more.

Child's body found in Eagle River confirmed as missing 3-year-old Sebastian Castro

The body of a child found last Friday in the Eagle River near Dotsero has been formally identified by the county coroner as 3-year-old Sebastian Castro, who went missing on June 5.

The Eagle County Coroner’s Office said that the boy’s cause of death is “consistent with drowning” and his manner of death is accidental.

The boy’s body was recovered more than 10 miles downriver from where he went missing.

The coroner’s office said that the boy’s family “expressed their gratitude for the efforts to find Sebastian and the outpouring of community support.”

“I thank the community for being patient as we followed this Office’s process for confirming the identity of a recovered body,” said County Coroner Kara Bettis. “We hope this announcement brings closure to the family and a measure of healing to our caring community.”

The coroner’s office said its announcement that Castro had been identified “concludes the investigation.”
