(NewsNation) — Mother, wife and business owner Amy Hillyard disappeared on March 25, leaving her friends and family unsettled and hoping that someone will be able to help bring her home.
Chris Hillyard replays the last time he saw his wife over and over again.
“The constant unknowingness of where my wife is, my best friend, my partner, it’s unbearable,” he said. “Every morning I wake up and the nightmare starts over again.”

Amy Hillyard disappears

The morning of March 25 was an ordinary day for the couple, who had been together for 25 years. They had breakfast at their home and Hillyard said he dropped his wife off at the train station for a therapy appointment.

She texted him just before 2 p.m., and neighbors say they also spoke to her while she was out walking her dog in the Cleveland Heights neighborhood of Oakland, California, that afternoon.

But when Hillyard came home just before 3 p.m., he knew something was wrong.

“I noticed that the back door was open and the dog was out of its crate, which was surprising, and her belongings were on the counter in the kitchen,” he said. “So I knew something was wrong at that point and I searched the house, I talked to neighbors, and then I went, started searching the neighborhood and then called OPD to file a missing persons report.”

Her husband appears to be genuinely concerned about her. My immediate assumption is something caused her to slip in the water? However, I am totally unfamiliar with the area so I could be totally off base.

I've been following her disappearance from a distance. My initial impression was that she left willingly. - Whether she intended to stay away or had some sort of accident or mental health break, I'm not sure. But it hasn't seemed like someone harmed her.
I haven't read much lately though.

Oh no. This doesn't sound good, then. I assume the dog went back home?

I'm definitely getting the vibe that she didn't want to be found but not sure if she just took off or self harm hopefully, it's just the took off option.

Reward for info jumps to $25K in Amy Hillyard case

The family of Amy Hillyard — the 52-year-old wife, mother of two and co-owner of Farley’s coffee who seemingly vanished in Oakland without a trace more than a month ago — has increased the reward from $10,000 to $25,000 for substantial leads that bring about her safe return. They are hopeful that someone out there has the smallest piece of information that can move the case forward.

The latest update on BringAmyHome.com reads, “Since Amy’s disappearance on March 25th, hundreds of volunteers, along with law enforcement, have worked tirelessly to search for answers; going door-to-door, reviewing footage, and combing through the parks and areas she loved. Despite these ongoing efforts, critical information remains missing. As time passes, the family hopes that increasing the reward will encourage anyone who may have seen something, knows something, or has even the smallest piece of information to come forward.”

Oakland vigil event marks two months since Amy Hillyard went missing

Monday, May 25 marks two months since Amy Hillyard was reported missing in Oakland. A few weeks ago, Hillyard’s family announced they had increased the reward in her case from $10,000 to $25,000 for substantial leads that bring about her safe return.

As the search continues to find the 52-year-old wife, mother of two and co-owner of Farley’s coffee, a vigil in Oakland this Monday in honor of Missing Persons Month will bring her loved ones together with other families also searching for answers.

“Bring Amy Home: A Vigil of Hope & Awareness Honoring Amy Hillyard and all Missing Persons in Oakland” will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. at Mandana Plaza Park, located at 600 Mandana Boulevard.

“This will be a space for connection, reflection, and gratitude as we continue the work of bringing Amy home,” according to an update posted on BringAmyHome. “We will come together to recognize the extraordinary care and effort so many of you have given, support one another, and hold Amy and her loved ones in our hearts. The evening will include time for connection, expressions of gratitude, and quiet reflection.”

Private investigators seek new videos in Amy Hillyard case: ‘Leaving no stone unturned’

Amy Hillyard has not been seen since she was reported missing in Oakland in late March. The 52-year-old wife, mother of two and co-owner of Farley’s coffee, seemingly vanished without a trace.

Now private investigators hired by the Hillyard family — thanks to a GoFundMe set up by Amy’s friends — are issuing an urgent request to residents and building owners to check any surveillance video from Wednesday, March 25 after 2 p.m. The detectives said they are also combing through previously unreceived security videos from specific buildings and homes, according to an update on BringHomeAmy.com.

“With 100% certainty, I believe there is a piece of surveillance that contains a clue,” said Steve Fischer of Search Investigations, LLC. “Amy’s friends and volunteers have done a remarkable job building maps, going door-to-door, searching park trails. We are using the information they gathered to launch a more focused search to discover where Amy went after she disappeared from her home.”

Search Investigations, LLC. added, “Using drones, tracing the steps she might have taken, visiting with homeowners and building owners, the investigators are leaving no stone unturned…. IF there is video that includes people, please upload it HERE. And IF there is video but there is no activity at all, please let investigators know that too HERE.”

The video hunt is focusing on the neighborhoods of Cleveland Heights, Park Boulevard corridor, MacArthur Boulevard vicinity, Trestle Glen and Crocker Highlands.

“Even previously reviewed footage may give investigators critical insight and new information,” said Search Investigations, LLC. “If you have reviewed video from that afternoon and there is no activity whatsoever, that information is also valuable to investigators.
