‘Today’ show host Savannah Guthrie’s mother is missing in Arizona and authorities suspect crime

The disappearance of the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie over the weekend is being investigated as a crime based on what authorities saw at her home, an Arizona sheriff said Monday.

Asked to explain why investigators believe the Tucson-area home is a crime scene, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said Nancy Guthrie has limited mobility and said there were other things indicating she did not leave on her own, but he declined to further elaborate.

“I need this community to step up and start giving us some calls,” Nanos said during a news conference.

The sheriff said Guthrie, who lived alone, was of sound mind.

“This is not dementia related. She’s as sharp as a tack. The family wants everyone to know that this isn’t someone who just wandered off,” Nanos said, adding that she needs her daily medication.

Guthrie was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at her home in the Tucson area and her family reported her missing around noon Sunday, the sheriff said.

Nanos said a family member received a call from someone at church saying Guthrie wasn’t there, leading family to search for her at her home and then calling 911.

“From what the family’s told us and everything we’ve learned, she could not walk out of that home 50 yards. We believe she was taken out of the home against her will, and that’s how this investigation is moving,” the sheriff told NBC’s Tom Llamas.

On Monday morning, Nanos said search crews worked hard but have since been pulled back.

“We don’t see this as a search mission so much as it is a crime scene,” the sheriff said.

Even so, a sheriff’s helicopter flew over the desert Monday afternoon near Guthrie’s home in the affluent Catalina Foothills area on the northern edge of Tucson. Her brick home has a gravel driveway and a yard covered in Prickly Pear and Saguaro cactus.

Savannah Guthrie issued a statement on Monday, NBC’s “Today” show reported.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” she said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear Nancy.”

I only meant the ones I've read and I have with all up to this one have nothing but info that has been already talked everywhere already. They don't add anything, and so I didn't bother with this one. So much is nothing but regurgitation or repeat.

I meant no offense, in case anyone is wondering.

I've, for some reason, got my funny bone acting up today so I'm just getting humor from that lol. Not taking anything too seriously.

So watch out in other words lol.

This case itself is heavy, the reporting a bit irritating as it gets in the ones that catch all media interest and the public's, and I'm kind of done in watching much of anything that doesn't seem like it will offer anything new and that includes a lot of others too. The big media outlets? I think they are more limited than any and not just CNN but FOX too. FOX though I did find interesting, but it would not be my first go to by a long shot. Yet the smaller ones on the scene are getting a bit crazy too, as are people who watch them.

I was done last night when I did one more refresh of YT and saw they were back at Annie's home. Well first I saw the most recent family video. Later that happened. I'd sure had my fill of it but it was new news. I was about to head to Netflix for some lightness both times.

Major news outlets though are not going to have the breaking news, I can tell you that. Any of them.

I wasn't even going to do this believe it or not as it only hit my funny bone, but I haven't done it in awhile and it is obligatory I think and so it is probably due anyhow....

The CNN site is updated frequently.

I believe you but the reporters on the ground, at the scene and the local beat them to it. They are just taking from all of them.
So is FOX. So they really have to work to come up with something original. FOX's chart on the family messages I found interesting and they had the pic of of the flashes in the garage at Annie's though.

But like I said they all have to work at it and get their info from others who know before them.

Sheriff’s department gives update on Nancy Guthrie investigation

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department provided an update Sunday on the investigation into the abduction of Nancy Guthrie eight days ago.

“The Nancy Guthrie investigation is ongoing. Follow-up continues at multiple locations. No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified,” the sheriff’s department wrote in a post on X.

Well I thought I'd get up this morning and there would be news with so much going on yesterday. Apparently nothing any different though since the last reports of LE at Annie's.

Most of the reporters have said the last few days that they don't think the family is there any longer... If that's the case, LE is not going there to confer with the family. If it's not the case, I still don't see what they would be doing there so late, I can see going there to question or confer but not to take pictures nor leave with anything...? If the family truly is staying somewhere else, why not just go there then?

LE is just ramping up the talk of the son in law and Annie by doing so.

We have known for some days the 2nd deadline is tomorrow re the alleged kidnapper.

I saw someone say in a chat last night that LE can track when and where the bitcoin money goes at the other end, when the kidnapper removes the money from the account. Does anyone know if this is true?

Something is definitely up here. Not sure what. Whatever was in this last note was different the way it sounds. The one reporter I think from KOLD said she wouldn't classify this one as a ransom note but said there were things in it to show it was the same sender since it was a different IP address.

Then we have them looking for a car and/or person at gas stations, etc. And the activity at Annie's last night...

The agreement to pay...

I'm not sold on anything still.
What's the stuff about gas stations? I must have missed that.

Officials with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office returned to Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona, home on Sunday to search a nearby septic tank.

Footage captured by the Fox Flight Team shows authorities using a pole to probe a manhole located behind Guthrie’s property.

Ok so what do you think they were doing and had in the bag when they left?
I have absolutely no idea. But the camera flashes make me think of luminol, these days Blue Star. If I clear all of the crap speculated about out there from it all, there seems to be a focus on the cars at both places, the garages, and per FOX, another room in Annie's home too. I think they are trying to verify or prove the story true or untrue about how Nancy traveled, in which car, whether she was taken home or not, and so on, and if something happened at Annie's?

OMG. Do they think she could be in that?

Fox has reporters at the scene.

That took me to a picture of her cat, and below that something about border crossings.

They may have someone there, I don't know. I did actually say that the FOX one which I linked, had some things I found interesting, in their thing about the family messages particularly and they did have the video of flashes in Annie's garage. I'm not a big MSM fan or follower, so wouldn't likely know or see if they are there, but I know overall, they don't send people out like some others do. To scenes. Unless and until... They don't cover just crime for one thing.
