Circumstances of Disappearance
Jodi Huisentruit, an anchor at KIMT television station in Mason City, Iowa, disappeared from outside her apartment as she left for work
at approximately 4:00 on June 27, 1995. Initially a missing person case, Huisentruit's disappearance was soon classified an abduction. When investigators arrived at her apartment complex they found her red Miata convertible in the parking lot. A pair of red women's dress shoes, a blow dryer, bottle of hair spray, car keys and earrings were scattered beside the car. The key was found bent and out of the door lock. Witnesses indicate that they heard screams at 4 o'clock that morning. Investigators are looking for a white mid 1980s Ford Econoline van. Foul play is suspected.

Huisentruit grew up in Long Prairie, Minnesota, where she was active in sports, excelling in golf. She earned her bachelors degree in 1990 from St. Cloud State University with a double major in TV Broadcasting and Speech Communication. Huisentruit worked for Northwest Airlines immediately after graduation, followed by a broadcasting position at KGAN-TV Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She then returned to Minnesota for a position at KSAX-TV in Alexandria, before joining KIMT-TV in Mason City.

The Jodi's Hope Fund has been established to help youngsters in Long Prairie, Minnesota — where Jodi Huisentruit grew up — develop their writing and speaking skills. To learn more about the fund and how to contribute, go to www.jodishopefund.com.

I tend not to think so in this case. And she was running late for work for some reason... Of course since no one has ever been arrested, none of us can say for certainty who killed her.

I think it was someone closer than a total stranger.
It seems to me that someone close would have had other opportunity than an ambush in a parking lot.

Not if she'd rejected them and didn't want them around or if she'd broken something off with someone and insisted they stay away and so on. And all sorts of other scenarios. And a person doesn't have to be close for her to just have known them either.

There are all sorts of cases we've seen where some ex kidnapped the wife or gf in a car, raped her and so on.

It could be random but it doesn't seem like it to me and LE certainly has concentrated on people she knew... I assume there's reasons for that.

No, it doesn't seem random to me, either, but as for LE- although I don't know their reasons- I'm afraid they haven't yet concentrated on the right person.

I don't know... I think the PI whittled it down to three people and I believe thinks it most likely the one as well for valid reasons. Hard to say.

I do hope it is solved one day and solved with a solid conclusion.

I'm not aware of anyone who was ever considered more than a person of interest, which to me shows there was never evidence against any of those people.
They considered him the prime suspect. Searched his property. Found nothing. But by that time he had plenty of time to get rid of any.

Well, I don't know when they searched property but if they hadn't already, it's because they lacked evidence for probable cause.

But that's something they don't know, I mean, they have to consider that it wasn't someone "she knew".
I would imagine they have. I can only surmise there is a reason they think otherwise. Until it is solved, or they release everything, I guess we won't know.

I've always wondered about her running late that day... I mean I don't know why it might play in or why I wonder but it just is something that stays with me.

I know that makes no sense lol.

No, that makes sense and it's something to look at closely. Indeed, ordinarily, she'd have left much earlier and so I think the fact she hadn't could have presented the perp with an opportunity he may not have ordinarily had. (Just speculating, of course.)

and possibly the very reason why she was running late, in the first place.

I've read from the wiki page that a neighbor reported having seen a white Ford Econoline van idling in the parking lot that morn but there's no more info than that.
Anyway, I wonder what became of that info.

yeah, it is just something that has always nagged at me, stayed in the back of the mind. i've thought of some scenarios that could play into over the years but they aren't fresh in my mind at the moment. speculating of course.
