ANNA KEPNER: Teen found dead on Carnival cruise ship *ARREST!* (2 Viewers)

Haven't watched this yet myself but headline says now being called a homicide. Meaning I would think that the FBI has said as much if it isn't clickbait.

No surprise to the public as we all feel/know it is a homicide but if LE has announced it, that's progress. Hoping it means an arrest is coming soon...

I'm linking and then going to go watch.

You've got it lol. If I have it right, the 2nd marriage of the dad fell apart in 2023. Once the divorce was final he married this one within a year. So AT MOST two years and I believe I heard they were only together a year before marrying. But at most two years. And so these two were teens when the parents met/married.
So this was a family that was only two years old at best and supposedly the teenagers were like brother and sister already?

Delusional.

From what I've heard yes, it couldn't have been long unless he was cheating on his 2nd wife and there's no indication he was with her until after that broke up. I think it was just a year in fact they'd been together, but can't recall the specifics so at most yes, two.

Yah what's delusional is thinking just because you are in love kids not raised together are like instant, loyal, loving siblings, etc. They may APPEAR to be but they didn't grow up together and they don't know each other the way those raised together do. No way.

Anna belonged in the extra bed with her grandmother OR in her own stateroom. The boys being minors should have been with and under the control of the parents.

apparently she thought it fine the kids deciding they wanted to share a room together. And this is GRANDMA. What?? What kind of permissive garbage is that? What I don't see from this family, any of them, is the acknowledgment that it is a bad idea to put a 16 year old boy in with an 18 year old girl, who are unrelated AND one who was reportedly obsessed with her. They know now it was a bad idea but I don't hear any acknowledgment of that at all!

I think what bothers me the most about this case is how HER family (dad AND grandparents) is protecting him and seems to forget that she was murdered. I just don't get it.
Yeah, none of them seem to have rage that she is dead or at him for killing her.

Grandma said she couldn't quit screaming when she heard she was dead BUT you sure don't see such emotion now.

It's normal to feel rage at the killer of your child or grandchild, totally normal. I STILL DO.

This family imo is running interference and trying to soften/clean up how they are being viewed. That's what gma was doing on GMA imo.

You know, allegedly the relationship dad had with the 2nd wife started when she was the 15 year old babysitter... So dad's sexual boundaries and appropriate relationship guidelines are a bit skewed I think it is safe to say as to what's okay and not... Probably not a great parent to make decisions for the children of that nature... Since what he did was "rape" of a minor...

Hated to say it but needed to throw that out there nevertheless...

Anna Kepner, the Florida 18-year-old who died aboard a Carnival cruise ship earlier this month, has been cremated, according to a copy of her death certificate obtained by Fox News.

The FBI's Miami office is handling the investigation into Kepner's death, which her family said has been ruled a homicide by mechanical asphyxiation in an interview with ABC NewsMonday.

Christopher Kepner has been ordered to testify during a Dec. 5 hearing in Brevard County, according to a subpoena filed by Hudson's attorney, Scott Smith.

Unless bio dad is completely unfit, I think bio mom of the 16 year old who it is claimed did this, can kiss her kids goodbye as I believe she will lose custody. She will probably have visitation rights but that's it would be my guess, and those may even be short or supervised.

I watched a show or two on this case today. Can't link the source, don't recall, but they are now saying the death occurred before that 11 something a.m. finding time of her body. I think we all figured that much...

I was able to find this -

Although her time of death is listed at 11:17 a.m. on Nov. 7, the report says she suffered her fatal injury on Nov. 6, the last night she was publicly seen alive.

The ship arrived back in Miami Port on Nov. 8 at it’s scheduled time. What was going on with him during the time she was found and the time they arrived in port? I don’t think he was questioned by FBI until they made it back to port. Where did he sleep the night of the 7th? Did they suspect him before the family was questioned?

More of interest on that one too that I just linked.. The whole thing is only 10 minutes long... Suggest a watch...

Things like he knocked too late at night, dad saying he is just being brotherly, etc... On her SM I gather...

Supposedly dad said sharing the stateroom was for economic reasons plus they thought it would bring them closer...

I've never heard almost any of this before now...

That's rubbish if the grandparents had a spare bed in their room and had offered it.
It looks like the next hearing on Dec 5th is going to put a gag on the case details so we are not likely to here anything much after that date.

From the sounds of it, the 16 yo was obsessed with her. Lots of photos of her on his phone taken without her knowledge.

Ah right - near the end it says the younger brother bunked elsewhere that night (maybe with the grandparents?) so those two were alone that night. Also it said her journal was subpoena'd from her school locker.

Belle's post above says she died on the 6th. So she died sometime between her last text (9.30 pm?) and midnight. Just him and her in that stateroom. He is done for IMO.

Florida is one of the best states for public records and not sealing information. I am hoping no gag order results, although we seem to be seeing that more these days everywhere.

I saw a bit of a camera video supposedly where it shows her walking back to the cabin I think and as she goes to enter, he comes rushing out from across the hall behind her... Don't take my word for it as it was quick and the channel I was watching was new to me--I kept waiting for them to play more or replay it and gave up.

Yeah supposedly he had tons of pics of her on his phone taken at family gatherings and such that she was unaware he was taking. They are trying to now correlate her sending her dad a couple of messages and timing of things he did on his phone, etc. in correlation and he allegedly was deleting stuff or had from his phone too.

I don't know where all this stuff is coming from--do the feds have a leak...? Some could be from Carnival...?

Yes, gma and gpa had an extra bed. This was a not comedy of errors but tragedy of errors imo. She was 18 and of age BUT you still can lay down rules if you are paying for the trip. And they certainly should have had control of the minors. Yes, the youngest never got back into the room it sounds like? Why is it something wasn't discovered then?

Anna did go back out that night per her grandparents... Played $20 in the casino. Changed outfits.

You know, even allowing for naivete and cluelessness, I can't get past that this was bad parenting all the way around. And these were not too parents long married or who had parented each other's kids or done it together for years either...

I TRY to see it and be fair, like maybe they thought with her own brother in the room, the 14 year old, that would be a buffer but he wasn't in the room at the time was he...?

For the length of this post, I am still at a loss for words... You know, this probably would have happened on day whether at home or on the cruise... The parents were ignoring the problem imo.

She OR the two boys should have been in the grandparents' room. Or she should have had her own room. Think about it too, she likes to change outfits, put on makeup, etc., she's a girl on a trip and all that has to be done in that tiny room...
