He should be able to get out by using the cat tree right?
Not sure but doubtful lol The cat tree is probably deck rail height. Not a huge one, just average. Then I have fencing that goes up to probably twice the height of what it is to the deck rail and then it ends and is open. One night a few years ago something was out there all night having a fit. Probably a squirrel. Once in awhile a bird flies over and can't find it's way out. It is fairly rare thank God. That night I wasn't sure what it was and I called one of my sisters I knew would be up late as I was freaked, I mean I wasn't sure what was out there and I was not going to open the door as then it could get in whatever it was lol. I learned some years ago, I had a bird feeder to not do that any longer as of course it attracts squirrels and such. Again it is fairly rare and i have nothing out there to attract them and I am second floor. I don't have too much trouble generally.
LOL I haven't seen him in probably five minutes so hopefully this was a rare smart one and went on his way. I'm almost glad the cats are dozing but they would have been excited had they been up. I don't need it lol.
Thank God I didn't have the door open, I sometimes do. I don't get much for flies or bugs either on second floor although I do keep it shut more in July and August as then one can, or I mostly do. One benefit of not being first floor. The cats are just dozing away never had a clue.
My heat is uncontrollable too and sometimes when daughter is over she throws the doors open when dark. I ask her nicely not to as light attracts or my cats get onto the deck and I don't know if they are inside or out. I ask her to just keep at least the screen door shut, I get that she wants to cool it off. Lol. But don't let things come in or get out in the dark.
Very off topic but generally during the day almost all months I can open up the doors if say not too cold or don't want to like below zero or something and so on but every once in awhile I get an animal that gets over the fence. the
Overall it is great. I don't worry about intruders much either. I figure they'd have to climb up and tear the fencing down and I'd hear them and leave through the front door before they could ever get in lol. I do lock up though at night, etc. If for any reason I would forget, well, still fairly safe. I did catch kids one year trying to climb up. Sigh.
Anyhow it is a typical apartment deck but fenced in for my cats, we did that. Gives them at least some outdoor time and life.
Yeah, haven't seen the squirrel in a long time now, so think it might have been a rare smart one and knew how to get out and move on.
