Madeleine Beth McCann (born 12 May 2003) disappeared on the evening of 3 May 2007 from her bed in a holiday apartment at a resort in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve region of Portugal. Her whereabouts remain unknown.[3] The Daily Telegraph described the disappearance as "the most heavily reported missing-person case in modern history".[4]

Madeleine was on holiday from the UK with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann; her two-year-old twin siblings; and a group of family friends and their children. She and the twins had been left asleep at 20:30 in the ground-floor apartment, while the McCanns and friends dined in a restaurant 55 metres (180 ft) away.[5] The parents checked on the children throughout the evening, until Madeleine's mother discovered she was missing at 22:00.

I didn't see it posted in the thread and I remembered that that crime analyst, Mark Hofmann, explained it very well the reasons why Bruekner fits the crime.
I'm not saying it was, I'm saying some years back I wouldn't have even been on the internet as to crime but sure did TV, etc. and may well have seen it. It's 60 Minutes so there's a good chance.

I did not mean it had been posted here. I haven't been here for more than what three years maybe? Maybe longer, not sure. Was here when the old site crashed. I'm saying I probably saw the 60 minutes show.

Okay. You keep track for me okay? So I've been here since 2019 or you have? So I've been here five freaking years, if that is my date?! I wonder how long it takes... LOL.

You are great with dates. I used to be, not so much these days.

I LOVE seeing you around. You maybe are elsewhere but I only go into cases I am going to finish for the most part these days.

Okay.. I will likely forget so I am going to count on you for me to ask if I forget. So five years. Well that gives me an opinion of a few things I can only say...

AS to something I saw you saying early on before I knew ya and I'd say the same now.

Anywho, time flies I guess. And love having some contact with ya today. Way too rare for me these days to be in contact the rare time others are on, etc. or same threads and so on.

Yes, I got it captain, sergeant, general, etc. or whatever the case may be. LOL.

So we both joined in an October and it's October now. I wonder if that means anything....

Doubtful lol but interesting.

Woman who claimed to be Madeleine McCann charged with stalking girl’s family

A woman who once claimed to be Madeleine McCann is now in custody after she was accused of stalking the missing girl’s family by allegedly contacting them incessantly and turning up at their home in the U.K.

Julia Wandel, also known as Julia Wandelt or Julia Wendell, was arrested on Wednesday at an airport in Bristol, reports The Guardian.

According to the outlet, she has been charged with stalking four members of the McCann family — parents Gerry and Kate, and twin siblings Sean and Amelie — throughout the duration of 2024 and into 2025. She is also alleged to have paid unwanted and unsolicited visits to their home twice, in May and December of last year.

The charges state the alleged contact, which came in the form of phone calls, voicemails, a letter and WhatsApp and Instagram messages, “had a substantial adverse effect” on the family.

The crux of her “proof” regarding physical resemblance revolved around McCann’s rare eye disorder, one Wandel claimed to share. When McCann went missing, a coloboma abnormality in her right eye was used as a major identifying feature. (A coloboma is a hole in the structure of the eye, often causing a visible tear or hole.)

She also claimed to have the same dimple as McCann, several similarly located moles and freckles, and similar gaps in her teeth.

However, two months later her spokesperson said a DNA test confirmed Wandel was not the missing girl. In fact, the test showed that Wandel has near 100 per cent Polish heritage, with no evidence of British or even German ancestry.

According to The Guardian, Wandel appeared in court on Friday to face her charges. She did not put forward any pleas. She will appear for a full plea hearing on April 7 and will remain in custody.

Here we go again... another one claiming to be Madeleine...this time it is someone in Arkansas.
her poor parents....
she isn't Madeline-she does not have that eye thing in her right eye that Madeleine had.

Madeleine McCann detectives begin fresh search for the missing girl where she was last seen

Fresh police searches are due to start tomorrow near the spot where Madeleine McCann was last seen.

German police are said to have requested the searches, expected to take place between Praia da Luz where the three-year-old vanished on May 3 2007 and a house near the holiday resort where principal suspect Christian Brueckner used to live.

A well-placed Portuguese source confirmed this week's operation was scheduled get underway tomorrow but said some preparation work may take place beforehand.

He said: 'They will be land searches only. The main objective is to look for any signs of Madeleine's body.'

Sources said the searches would take place on more than 20 privately-owned pieces of land near to a ramshackle rented cottage on the outskirts of Praia da Luz where Brueckner spent several years living before 2007.

One said: 'The search will take place on 21 privately-owned pieces of land which in some cases are open and not fenced off. Wells, ruins and water storage tanks will be searched.'

Portuguese police are understood to have agreed to cooperate with the search after it was approved by the country's judicial authorities following a formal request from German cops and prosecutors.

The search is expected to last around three days unless anything relevant emerges.

It will be the first search in Portugal for more than two years, following a near-week-long operation involving Portuguese, German and police officers at a remote dam a 40-minute-drive from Praia da Luz.

The searches in May 2023 at Arade Dam, an 'area of interest' that Brueckner reportedly called his 'little paradise', came to nothing.

It is not clear if detectives are now acting on a new tip-off about where Madeleine’s body could be.

While German investigators made the unusual move of naming the convicted paedophile as a suspect in the case, he has not been charged.

Brueckner's prison term is set to end with his release this September - much earlier than prosecutors had hoped for after he was acquitted of unrelated sexual offences in court last October following a trial.

The convicted rapist is no longer being held in solitary confinement as he nears the end of his sentence.

With Brueckner's release looming, pressure is mounting on prosecutors to charge him following explosive revelations in a Channel 4 documentary and evidence found in a former factory, which authorities believe may link him to Maddie's abduction.

The materials, unearthed at a disused box factory in Germany, include a vile catalogue of depraved documents, children's clothing, small bikes, and more than 75 swimsuits and toys believed to belong to young girls.

Some were reportedly buried beneath the body of Brueckner's dead dog, which was exhumed during the police search.

'The clock is against the case here and investigators do not want to see Brueckner walk free,' a source told The Sun.

They better be charging him with something, smh.

Not even saying I believe him responsible here necessarily but he is a criminal and depraved person.

For the family I'd hope the body be found. Other than that, how they expect it to help them in a case much 18 years later, not really sure unless clothing of hers found with his DNA or some such.

In this one and in Ramsey, I'm very apt to be doubtful of answers if any ever come unless there is SOLID reason for such. In neither imo did they do what they should have done over the initial time/years.

Madeleine McCann: Investigators end latest searches for missing British girl

Investigators in Portugal have ended their latest searches for Madeleine McCann after three days.

Officers could be seen holding pitchforks as they combed land in an area on the outskirts of Lagos in the Algarve on Thursday.

Search teams involving German and Portuguese officers, as well as firefighters, used pickaxes and shovels to dig undergrowth, and a digger was again used to remove rubble from an abandoned structure at the site.

They spent two days focusing on one particular derelict building, using a ground-penetrating radar on the cobbled ground after clearing the area of debris and vegetation.

British officers have not been present for the latest searches, the Metropolitan Police said.

Authorities have not yet commented on the ending of the latest searches.

So far, officers have not announced they have found anything of significance.

They didn't use cadaver dogs?
Note this from a previous search.

Madeleine McCann latest as 'clothing and bones' found in search for missing girl

Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are reportedly examining samples of 'clothing and bones' discovered during last week's search.

German and Portuguese investigators concluded a three-day search last Thursday, covering a 120-acre area in Lagos, Portugal, in their latest bid to find fresh evidence against main suspect Christian Brueckner. Initial reports suggested the operation - conducted 30 miles from where the three-year-old went missing in May 2007 - had not yielded any new leads.

However, it is now claimed that fragments of clothing and bones, found at the scene, have been sent for testing this week. The search - the first since 2023 - saw crews spend three days combing through scrubland and abandoned buildings, including a derelict farmhouse, reports the Mirror.

A source informed Berlin Morning Post: "Several objects have apparently been discovered, which are now being examined in more detail by the police in the laboratory. Portuguese media report that among the items found were fragments of clothing and bones. The investigators have not officially commented on whether the finds could be linked to Madeleine's disappearance but that is clearly their hope."

I'm still trying to wrap head around 75 swimsuits and toys with little explanation. Does that mean there were 75 separate children?? Are they ALL missing? Or did he just tell them to run on home now with no suit on? Surely if this many went on over the years LE had to know there was a huge problem.

Who knows, maybe news has it wrong but if not, what a major lack of investigation with many a child. How do you even get near that many that easily?
