Andrew Gosden (born 10 July 1993)[1] disappeared from Central London on 14 September 2007 when he was aged 14. On that day, Gosden left his home in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, withdrew £200 from his bank account and bought a one-way ticket to London from Doncaster station.[2] He was last seen on CCTV leaving King's Cross station. Despite numerous national appeals for information in the years following his disappearance, Gosden's reason for travelling to London that day and his subsequent fate have never been established.

Andrew has been missing from his home in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, since 14 September 2007. He was last seen on CCTV footage at King's Cross Station in London later that morning. When Andrew went missing he was 5ft 3in tall, slim with light brown hair and brown eyes. He needs strong prescription glasses. He was last seen wearing black jeans and T-shirt.

Andrew was last seen at 8-30am as he was heading down Littlemoor Lane, Balby, Doncaster towards Westfield Park. Andrew returned from school after his parents had gone to work, and changed out of his uniform. He emptied his bank account – taking around £200 – and without leaving a note went to Doncaster station and bought a one-way ticket to London King’s Cross (refusing a return even though the cost was about the same).

It is thought that he boarded a train at Doncaster Railway Station at 9-35am on the day he went missing arriving at London Kings Cross Station at 11-20am. South Yorkshire Police released CCTV footage from Kings Cross Station on 14 September 07, the day he went missing, there are no confirmed sightings after this one.

Andrew Gosden: Men released without charge in 2007 missing boy case

Two men arrested by officers investigating the disappearance of 14-year-old schoolboy Andrew Gosden have been released by police.

The pair were arrested in December 2021 on suspicion of kidnap and human trafficking.

Andrew was last seen on 14 September 2007 at King's Cross Station in London after boarding a train from Doncaster.

Det Ch Insp Andy Knowles said he was "confident the two men arrested played no part in Andrew's disappearance".

Andrew's parents, Kevin and Glenys Gosden, thanked police for carrying out a "comprehensive investigation" but said they remained "living in limbo".

South Yorkshire Police said the arrested men were both interviewed and had had a number of electronic devices seized and analysed by specialist officers.

"The investigation remains open and active and we would urge anyone with information to come forward," Det Ch Insp Knowles said.

"It's now been 16 years since Andrew's disappearance and we know in that time people's views, opinions and loyalties can change.

"Even the smallest piece of information could help detectives find answers for Andrew's family who have campaigned tirelessly for answers.
This is flat out not okay and ODD. So what's missing here?? They have them for almost two years and just say or we are confident they played no part? Where is their remorse over an arrest and holding them for two years if that arrest turned out not to be warranted or shouldn't have happened and an explanation as to how this could happen or on what proof or basis they released them??

Very odd. Not even "played no part in Andrew's disappearance BUT charged with..."
Just "Sorry, bye bye!"
Curious to see the legality behind everything. In the US they would have had to be charged or released very quickly, not two years later.

yes it doesn't even say they just don't have enough or feel they don't right now it talks as if they know they are NOT connected and it took two years to find out?

And the family too thanked police but didn't say uhm WHAT? or aren't sharing it if they do understand why.

we can look at like the Morphew case where he was in jail but eventually got out but we KNOW there are just issues and not enough maybe to proceed. In this one, it sounds as if they CLEARED them but it took two years. And how and on what did you make an arrest to begin with then?

Yep. ODD. They owe answers I don't care what country it is in.

International Missing Children’s Day: Thinking about Doncaster's Andrew Gosden who was last seen 16 years ago

Today, Saturday 25 May, marks International Missing Children’s Day, a day dedicated to the memory of all children who have gone missing.

On this day, we think of missing Andrew Gosden who was last seen 16 years ago on 14 September 2007 when he was 14-years-old and went missing from Doncaster.

It’s never too late to share information with police. If you think you know something that could help officers find Andrew, please contact police online at www.southyorkshire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us-beta/contact-us or via 101.

Andrew Gosden: Today is his 31st birthday but police are no closer to finding out what happened to him

Det Ch Insp Andy Knowles said he was "confident the two men arrested played no part in Andrew's disappearance".

At the time, Andrew's parents, Kevin and Glenys Gosden, thanked police for carrying out a "comprehensive investigation" but said they remained "living in limbo".

"The investigation remains open and active and we would urge anyone with information to come forward," Det Ch Insp Knowles said.

Confident they played no part but sure held them for a long time making such seem otherwise.

I can't even imagine how the family feels. We will blink and it will be 20 years. Do they have ANYTHING...

Still think there's a possibility they just didn't have enough or it was felt to go forward on the two men... But who knows. If not, then they sure made a huge mistake and held them wrongly...

Not impressed.

If he chose to walk home rather than ride the school bus, that strikes me as very odd.
You lost me there. There's nothing about school or a bus in this case. He took out money and left, not walking home nor riding a bus home. I even just went back and reread the thread. I didn't hit and read the links but read every post.

That info is from the wiki link at the top of the first page of the thread.
Indeed, his choice to walk rather than ride is, to me, the single most blatantly odd circumstance leading up to his disappearance, I mean, I think surely it indicates that there was something wrong going on and by that time.
One other circumstance I find questionable is that he'd declined to stay with his grandmother over the summer break (how else was he to spend his time?..And how did he?) and another is that he told his father that he didn't want to be involvd in the Boy Scouts group any longer.

It says nothing about school bus. I know of no private schools that provide school bus transportation especially I very large cities with public transportation. He most likely used public transportation to get to and from school of her didn't get a private ride.

Whether it's accurate or not, it did say school bus.

Okay. I will go and read that link and be back. Like I said, it's news to me. Or it has changed since first viewing this case how long ago. Not a thread that's been very active since, etc.

Whether it's accurate or not, it did say school bus.
Okay. I have now read the WIKI thing. I feel like I've been in some other world by the time I was finished with the long thing. The entire thing and life and questions I find odd but to center on the school bus, that part said he TWICE chose to broke from routine, but then never mentions two times of doing so and so I take it both times were to walk home rather than take the school bus?

I find the entire article like some rabbit hole in a way. I mean I guess he was 14 and so maybe the parents didn't keep an ultra close eye on him, he may have had his attitude and been doing his own thing but I find a lot of it odd. He did game but cared less about having a phone or a computer...

He wanted no part of scouts and was in Catholic school. I hate to be this way but I have assumptions about both those "groups".... And just things said about him makes me wonder as well. He didn't want to be in scouts any more and that could be so simple as he was 14 and felt it "dorky" or something more...Both the Church and scouts have had more than their share of SA and of the man on boy variety and to me that can't be ignored as a thought. And later the father wonders if he might have been gay. The whole thing and read was odd imo.

So what again was your point about not taking the school bus home one day? Do you think he is going somewhere and stopping off or that something wrong was going on on the bus? Because he didn't disappear until after that.

I'm not sure I've ever read that initial article or if I did it has been some time ago. The WIKI thing. I probably did but the bus thing wouldn't have been a total focus as he didn'd disappear then.

This may not relate and be stupid but when I was no kidding like 5 or 6, my bus would take a right just like 1/4 mile from my home which I could see early in the school bus route after school. I'd then have to spend another long period of time on the bus as it did its' thing for miles on end and then came to my home as about the last stop an hour later maybe and I was often tired and ready to fall asleep after a full school day and just sick and tired of the ride.

I started asking the driver to drop me off when he turned so I could simply walk home. Believe it or not, a nice driver and was not a problem and I didn't need a parent's note or anything and I am not kidding I was maybe 6 tops. My folks had taught me well that you don't walk on the road but in the ditch or if you do you walk on the left facing traffic, etc. and then get off if a car is coming. And I'd walk home. Seemed like a long ways to me at the time, 1/4 mile or not even, but it was way preferable to riding that bus through every rural town and on a huge loop around a lake, etc. until the route dropped me off at home. It's crazy if one thinks about it now that that age of a child could get themselves dropped off without notes, permission, etc. And perhaps there was, I can't recall, maybe my mom confirmed they could do that and she was home which she was. Still... There was just a trust and a way of life way different than today.

I don't know his reasons for not taking the bus and my story may not relate but I'm just giving an example of a possible reason.

ALSO we lived rural and by junior high and high school we were asking my mom to ride bike to school as all the "townies" did etc. and so we could ride such around town after school. Probably by or about his age. THIS though was not easy nor fun, we lived probably eight miles out and it seemed like a very long way and forever and even young, like way too much exercise and effort. BUT the real want was to be able to do it and be about town afterwards where we lived out in again the rural area....

Very different time and era but he's 14. Some things don't change, it's an age you are bored at home, want to be part of things, be in town or the city, etc. Interesting that he did not want to go to grandma's over break in London though.

I don't know but that read was something else. I find it all incredibly odd and think I must be way out of touch with the times even 17 years ago. They talk as if some is the norm, into heavy metal bands, didn't carry or care to a phone but carried the portable gaming PS thing or whatever. Took money out of his bank account and did not want a return ticket, now that to me is ODD as heck right there.

Can a kid DO that without a parent? My kids had bank accounts as minors, savings I mean, no such thing as a debit card or anything, but they couldn't have taken out without my signature I am pretty sure as they had to be joint with a parent's signature. Someone correct me if I am wrong?

Anyhow that whole read of the Wiki thing I just felt I fell down a hole. Just got up maybe part of the reason. I'm somewhat old school maybe another part and it all sounds odd to me as to knowing what your son was up to or what was going on in his life. Not judging as teenagers at that age all can be going through a something a parent is unaware of as they change and the outside world brings issues, questions and problems.

Enter the internet, phones, gaming systems, computers on top of it.

interesting that his gaming thing was checked and he never registered, signed in or whatever or talked to anyone through it or some such... Kids have always been wiser and smarter than their parents to such since such started so I wouldn't count on that.

My grandchild told me some years back he could hack the school's system and password if he wanted to. My nephews have always known how to get into anything and they are 20 or 30 years older than him. None have done such for wrong reasons, my point is the kids are way ahead on tech and changes than the adults.

It's hard to get a feeling here and then we had those ARRESTS and the men in jail for almost two years and all about trafficking and in connection to him. I mean really WTH is going on here?

In many a case i'd suspect the family but it seems pretty clear here he left home and took money out and so on and DID go to the train station and so on. I'll sidetrack there for a bit in that public transport like rail, Greyhound bus, etc. and stations are hubs for predators if a child is there alone. I can tell a story or two, true ones about THAT as well. BUT what was he doing? Did he want to go to a concert and thought folks would refuse? Why would you refuse a return ticket? I can see a kid doing that wanting every last cent until they knew even if not much higher.

These parents do not seem to be up on what their son is going through or doing and again, teenage years can be hard and they may have thought all fine until then. Or did they... And do they now with hindsight... Now wondering if he was gay, etc.

It's hard in this one to take an opinion or leaning but my leaning would be he was being abused by an adult and as a gifted student not the most social (and that can also cause that) whether in school, on the bus, or in scouts... He took money out to leave or was lured to do so or even demanded to.

I don't know and am not SOLD on that opinion as I would be in some cases but with the LITTLE we have that would be my leaning. He probably felt older than his years yet he wasn't socially but was a brain and gifted that way. I feel like something is missing also. I don't know what but for one you had TWQ men under arrest for almost two years and called it trafficking as related to him.

I know, I know, long wandering post. Been a week. And I went and read this WIKI thing.

My point is just that it appears to me that something was brewing before he disappeared, something only he was aware of.
You know, the circumstances of this case seem very similar to those in that other case where the boy took his father's van and gun and went off into the woods and also hasn't been seen or heard from since.

I agree it seems there may be something more here that was brewing or just not something the parents were up on and that's not so unusual.

Unless some miracle person, every parent is at some point a first time parent. Every parent eventually is a first time parent of a teenager. Even if you raised siblings, are wiser beyond your years, ever single generation faces new challenge and parents can't even be expected to keep up with it to a point and children are vulnerable. As tech changes, threats, change, nowadays online predators and more.

The mention that they wonder about his being gay after the fact... Is like parents just facing or wondering something later on..

Yes that other one is a WI case. Not my area exactly but my neck of the states but quite a bit southeast. Still, it is the state I grew up in.

What is so heartbreaking it isn't even that the parents are bad in most cases, of course we don't have answers in these, but it is that children and teens are so targeted by predators and the times change so fast, short of locking a kid in their room with no electricity and sweeping it for a hidden track phone, how the heck do you keep kids safe? And THEN you'd be in trouble for locking your kid in his room. I'm being a bit sarcastic but guessing you know what I mean. I don't think most parents want to be or even can be a helicopter parent which also drives your kid away, when a teen very likely, etc. but there's so much out there and so intent on needing targets like young people or the elderly etc.

I too think there is something more here. And I still don't get arresting and releasing these guys and talking trafficking unless the investigation led them that way for a real reason.

And with the WI one too. You probably know I generally tend to lean towards parents in a missing child, for good reason in most cases. I've thought of that here but don't tend to lean towards dad. I could be way wrong of course and it could be a great show but he's the ONLY darned person giving a sh*t or trying to keep it or get it investigated. I am SO NOT impressed with LE in that one. then you have a young boy down in the same neck of Wisconsin getting like 5 million searches. Not so with 13 year old James Yoblonski I think it is. Elijah Vue. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that's getting that effort but all these non profits came in, major effort and funds I'd guess and they were searching at times hours away and UNLESS there is some investigation finding we've never heard about that would place him there, NO. Maybe they just wanted to have a nonprofit weekend at a hotel in the Wisconsin Dells or some such and write it off. SERIOUSLY.

James Yoblonski has NO attention to speak of imo. And dad is the only one it seems that is trying. Now I COULD be wrong and he may even be guilty and LE is hard at work and not sharing but I sure get not a single hint of that. It's like it was back when and because 13 I guess they just kind of wrote him off as a runaway.

Of course he is known to have taken the van and apparently dad's gun from the office, etc. but he's still a THIRTEEN year old who is missing.

I've had a little more time than usual to catch up, vent, talk which is now coming to an end but hence this and some other posts lol. it's hard to hit all that I want to normally .

Back to Andrew, they held men for like TWO years over him and then released them and have NEVER explained it. I'm so not impressed. if I was the men and was innocent of THIS, I'd be irate. and if they are guilty, why are they free and why arrested and kept in the first place.

I do think this teen met the wrong person or was dealing with teenaged problems. I'm pretty old but I remember those years well still. And have no idea what a boy goes through but know they are hard enough for a girl. I also remember kids around me and what they were doing and going through. And this was long before the world and culture had gone totally off the wall to confuse an adolescent even more beyond.

And this was long before the world and culture had gone totally off the wall to confuse an adolescent even more beyond.
Well I've been thinking about the info that he left cash at home yet took the allowed max out of the bank and what that might mean, I mean, for one thing, it looks to me like he took what he thought he'd need and the cash at home wasn't enough. What do you think?

I don't know that I recall that so well. This isn't the most active case or one I am up on the most but it sounds familiar. Without looking back, I'd say if he was leaving for good and planned on doing such, he'd have taken all he could, the money at home and from the max at the bank. UNLESS of course there was some reason he couldn't, like money was in a safe in mom and dad's room, etc. Again i'd have to look back at this info and what was said in this one.

So yes as to what you are thinking, if he only needed cash to go do one thing and was not leaving, then he only needed a set amount and then I'd agree if the money at home was not enough but the money in the bank was, you'd just leave the money at home and take cash from the bank that WOULD cover what you were planning on doing... Cash would still be at home when you got home...

Again I'd have to go back and just cannot and won't be right now, is this known for a fact and where did it come from that he had cash at home, didn't take it, etc.? And any other details on it?

Okay, not asking you to do that. I just went back up to the opening post and reread to refresh this case for me. I didn't see anything really about the money at home but did the 200 taken for a one way ticket...

SECOND post was men arresting for trafficking, I mean if I have it right literally the second post. this case from being from 2007 only has shy of two pages. So no wonder hard to recall.

Until recently coming up and even then, could not recall the few facts we had.

My leaning is gaming, cell phone, internet/web access and refreshing that this was 2007... In one way or another he was gotten to at a vulnerable age and he did as directed but probably thought it was for some good reason, meeting some great friend, was not happy or whatever and whether the first two guys are guilty or not, the child was played. Catfished. Etc.

For me when looking back at some of these cases, and I don't look at a lot of old ones, places like NYC and this was London would have been ahead of less populated cities with cell phones, service, internet than the rest of us in our countries and areas.

I ONLY reread the first post and not the link. But he bought a ticket and was THOUGHT to have gotten on bus/train after going home, changing clothes, leaving no note, and then emptying bank account.

This kid was played. Imo. And at 14 you feel you know it all OR if not having it easy at school and such and at home, you are vulnerable and that's what predators are after and you still may think you are smarter than your parents, etc.

I don't know if the first arrest was right but I'm betting it probably was or it is someone like them. It still makes no sense they held them how long and then let them go.

But back to your question of the bank account, yeah, I didn't read all to recall the money at home or know what that was about but he just went to the bank and took money in one lump sum. Maybe told a gullible teen that shared too much that is what he needed to do and if he took it from home, and all from the bank account, they'd think other than what the perps wanted thought...? Not sure if I'm making any sense but if you are going to leave for GOOD and have it thought you went off on your own and were not coming home, you'd take ALL cash. Am I making any sense? Not sure lol.

And again I don't know the details of the money at home. I did go back to the first couple of posts to refresh on this case. Like I said sadly it is not even two full pages so I only recalled what I did from recent talk on it and SOME of which I recalled from earlier. Not all though.

What do you think and correct anything I have wrong as I definitely could have something wrong. You are probably more up on it.

I'm often it was the parent or bf or something but this child was SEEN on CCTV so a bit more unlikely by far.... Not impossible but very unlikely.

Well, I haven't read anything about subsequent arrests and I'll eventually read about it but right now, I'm trying to imagine why he took his Playstation.
Info is that the charger was still in the home and so apparently, he either forgot it or for some reason, didn't think it was necessary but I can't wrap my head around why he took the Playstaion in the first place.
