To start. I have always found Serial Killers fascinating. What makes them do what they do?. I know I am not the only one. This is the place to talk about it. I'll start. Who do you find the most fascinating and why?.

What?! I'd just read (refreshed my memory, actually) of the murders of the ***er family- a case with a lot of similarities to Rader's crimes- and the arrest and acquittal of the accused and then I see that in the following article, it's reported that those murders are attributed to Rader!

Correction: The article reports that Rader denied involvement in that case and authorities still do believe Butterworth's guilty. (Which I do, too.)
Mrs. Butterworth?!!!. Never trust a talking bottle.

Whoa. Kohberger was taught by "Dr. Ramsland". She is one of the best. IDK. It's very confusing. Especially when there are other suspects. He lost 7 inches in height. Psh. Right. You don't shrink that much. In a wheelchair. I bet he's faking.

Oh, I see. And I hadn't known he'd confessed in '05 to two others...(You know, we'd benefit if I'd stay out of other people's discussions, lol!)
Actually, I hadn't known a heck of a lot about Rader and his crimes until recently and what I've found most interesting (if true, that is!) is info that before his arrest and when someone else was arrested for one of his crimes, he'd informed authorities (anonymously, of course) that they had the wrong guy.

There are a lot of cases I'm not familiar with and will ask questions others know about. Don't feel bad about asking questions. There are no stupid questions, just stupid people like @GrandmaBear

The article you posted below this one is wrong from the outset. It says that Rader raped his victims. IIRC, he never raped his victims, he just masturbated on them.

Yes. That is what the article says. Rader's daughter said that. 7 inches in height and in a wheelchair. I think he's faking. If not. Good. Suffer. The GSK Was brought into court, Always in a wheelchair and oxygen. But when he was sentenced. He jumped right up to tell off the judge. I don't care about how you are now. You want sympathy?! Really?! You did it. Suck it up buttercup.

Yeah, someone else was getting his credit. I'm sure he didn't like that.

Yeah he's quite the nasty one. Just was this ugly nondescript average married man that was a whole lot of smug and nasty and evil underneath that persona. Dog catcher so to speak, church president, cub scout leader (or if not leader, was involved). A dad, a husband, a working man. Yeah.

He also gave himself the serial killer nickname so I don't use it and in fact all here area being very good about not using it. He LOVES the use of it. He's just another Dennis. A name of many. Lat name of Rader. Nothing special. He thinks he is but he is not.

As far as I'm concerned you can come into any discussion you like. I love discussion, don't get a lot of time these days, but still is what I look for when I do.

Rader wasn't known to rape his victims was he? That's NOT to say he couldn't have at another time in his life or before getting worried about DNA, etc.

I don't always like this thing that they NEVER chance their type of victim or MO, etc. It may be true in many cases but it doesn't mean it has to be in all. If you were a smart serial killer, which they want to be considered, you would do EXACTLY that. Different areas, different MO, etc.

You did know the Kohberger thing with having Ramsland as a professor didn't you?

Yeah, I don't doubt Rader is older and frailer BUT even his daughter I THINK said of course she remembers him far differently and had not seen him in decades. Of course that is going to be a shock compared to the last picture in your head. She also said there is not a thing wrong with his mind (well there is) but I mean he is mentally as sharp as a tack and it showed. I'm paraphrasing all of course.

I immediately thought of two people when I heard about his poor condition. The first one was that guy, can't think of his name, the old man who was tried in California some months ago where the trial was well watched, many thought the judge a real card and humorous, and it was a typical Hollywood like trial. He came to court every day in a wheelchair, an ill fitting suit, etc. looking like some frail elderly man. I didn't buy it for one instant.

The other one is Richard Allen in Delphi. Didn't buy it, don't buy it, etc.

Oh they may have lost weight and different things but by choice or intentionally, etc.

I don't doubt Rader's teeth have rotted and things like that, he is in prison.

But any sympathy or belief he is as BAD as he'd have it seem? No.

A wheelchair begs the question, do they have to get him up and into it every day, into bed every night, to the bathroom when he needs it... Or is he able to get himself into it, out of it and do all that. Just questions that popped into my head. Imagine big bad MURDERING INNOCENTS Dennis Rader needing help to get on the potty.

Well that wasn't very nice.

You're just mad because Mel was made the serial killer expert. Sour grapes. It shows.

And most people consider the dodo synonomous with stupid. You dodo! You stupid bird! One and the same.

I suppose when people call you that or consider you that you have a need to call others that instead to deflect. A bird whisperer could probably help you with that and diagnose ya.

First you have to get those glasses as you can't see or read or tell the difference between the word morons and the name Morrisons even when one has a capital M and is a much longer word so you've got some bad eyesight going on there and also can't judge length, etc. After your eye appts. please get on the bird whisperer appts. and maybe add a vet too. I know you have trouble with sleep patterns and I understand that vets supposedly have something that can put you into a long, long, undisturbed sleep...

I'm surprised you didn't think it said Mormons, that would have made more sense. So I think you've got some brain cell or lack thereof involvement going on...

Just trying to help as you know I'm concerned.... ;)

:bigtongue:

I forget where I saw it, maybe in Regina's article but apparently they did offer Rader amnesty for these murders they are looking at. Why would he take that though? He has is it ten life sentences, what does amnesty matter? It gets him no freedom, no fish sticks, no sketch pad for his gruesome porn and torture, no outing, etc. He probably LOVES that they asked for such, he again has an upper hand. And is in the news. And his daughter visited and he has someone that thinks she can win playing cat and mouse with him.

Authorities and her are not going about it right. He isn't dumb. What good wold amnesty do someone like him? There is not one bit of that that would appeal. He is NOT A DO GOODER and going to confess for the victims OR for the public because he has some EMOTION akin to sympathy or guilt. No WAY.

The daughter, for those that dind't watch the one, did say he complained about some air vent or some such in his cell where he is cold all the time or hot, etc. She said on I think Surviving the Survivor that she either said to LE or maybe she was saying it on the show, GIVE him that, fix that in exchange for info, etc.

Here's the thing though that is just starting to hit me, they seem to think they have things but regardless of Rader and if he confessed, they need to PROVE and TRY these cases or it could be a false confession. Again games. I don't think he will do that but the public and victims anyhow are going to want more than his claim he did so...

I've been thinking a lot about Kerri, his daughter, today. I can't begin to imagine her life. I'm the type I would just literally crawl into a hole and hide if one of my family members did that. She sure enjoys the limelight. It may be what she needs to heal and come to peace with this. But, jeepers, who goes after their serial killer parent like this, and so publicly? I know she says she's trying to help and I believe her. But on Twitter, she just posts nonstop and is super competitive. Always offended by someone and calling them out. I dunno. Anyway.

I'm glad you wrote this because I'm so much the same about her. I am sooo back and forth. I don't want to come out and say it but at times I feel she is like her dad, needing to be special, in control and the one in charge, etc. Then when I have that thought, I feel like a totally nasty person and I guilt myself over it and don't share it or say it to that point on here for instance. I know nothing of her on Twitter etc. but I sure have seen her on more than a few shows.

I sympathize, of course we can't empathize as we haven't been there but I can't even imagine what it would be like to be his daughter or a daughter of others like Rader. Or a son. I to a point understand the need for herself to feel confident, to be in charge, because of all that's went on, etc. but it's more than that.

Yes he comes across as competitive, as a know it all, as no one can solve any serial killer case without her and HER DAD. They definitely can't solve these possible other ones without her, she is the key in her mind. She acts as though she IS the investigator and I've said before it is "my" investigators, my this and my that as if she is the Chief or Sheriff.

She goes on about what it takes to be out there and all the news and other important people wanting her on their show, etc., etc. and needing her and her time and she can only do so much.

I do believe she thinks she is helping and trying to help. I would not want to be in her shoes. But she does turn me off at times. And I think she is far from where she needs to be at times. Her dad thought he was better and smarter than LE and in some weird way she is acting about the same. I in NO WAY mean that as she'd do what he did, NEVER, but he may have put a competitive and need to feel superior or smarter in her without her maybe realizing. And that can be in a not so bad way. Competitive at sports, to win against her dad in this, or against LE who doesn't recognize she and her dad are the answers. That remark about LISK and NY law enforcement oh boy. The like four people on that show did not call her out on it but kind of soft soaped what she said and danced around it...

Kind of like her just calling out the Missouri I think lead detective in these other cases and saying on News Nation she thinks little of her and basically condeming her and then that woman was on with News Nation and she not once condemned Kerri but she said of many things, there was no evidence of any of these things some in the public and online seem to believe and not sure where it came from... It came from his daughter. She rubbed me wrong starting in the Kohberger case. She realy rubbed me wrong in the LISK/Gilgo case....

I hope I am making sense. And then the next time I see her on I do often feel she has very good insight and points and I recommend watching something with her on it.

But she is not the investigator, she is not the sheriff, she is not the FBI, in her dad's case or any other. However, she takes an attitude of telling them on these shows of what they need to be doing and as if she is running the show, they are her employees, etc.

Mostly, honestly, she turns me off but then she will make me think she is telling the truth and sharing some things about the recent investigations we don't know. And shares things that I'm not sure now may be untrue or she has no basis for like the blanket with Garber...

There's been a lot that has put me off but the remark in LISK/Gilgo as to how NY messed up not coming to her and her dad was beyond my understanding. And once hearing that every time she disses like this Missouri investigator or anyone else in LE makes me wonder what her credentials are (NOT) that means all should be coming to her in any case anywhere, etc. AND her dad. That was the part that really got me as to WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

And don't start me on the suing and support of ASA, the LISK murderer's wife. Kerri sits on shows saying how ASA had nothing to do with anything and knew nothing and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY she could know that. None of us can or do. And she most certainly does NOT.

Yeah, I don't know. I think my conflicted and back and forth opinion of her has come through here in the various cases. I started before seeing all this in Kohberger and her coming in. That was the first real glimpse. Then it was Gilgo. And NOW it is her dad and a new look at some other cases...Too tired to wrap my head around it any further but just think about that... Three at least different places in just the last bit of time... Different cases, etc. and in each of them she thinks she is paramount or her dad is... From Kansas to Idaho to NY... In just months...
