Watched a few minutes. I just don't think I can stomach it. At least not right now. Both the thought of all he did to those women and his face and voice I just can't...

Born and raised in LI... I doubt he took prostitutes home to his wife so I wonder where.... Or was she always gone somewhere when he did these things...? Did he have an apartment in the city and them dump them out there and go home... But then he'd have to get them out of he apartment...

Were the Gilgo Beach murders the first ones or the later ones...

The calls... A track phone...

I wonder if he had placed any more through the years or even recently...

They sure are going to wait long enough for a dam* press conference.

This man will likely have money for a good private attorney. However, he didn't seem to have enough to maintain his home. Maybe he spent it all on prostitutes... I wonder if his kids are adults. What a rude awakening for them.

Most serial killers think they are so smart... And his calling the families... And what he did here... This guy is really bad news. I know that sounds stupid but wow... They don't seem to have connected the sets of murders through him, at least not yet... So there may still be another...?

I’ve seen a lot of names floating around over the years about this serial killer, but not his.

Me too!

An architect? I never ever would’ve thought that someone into architecture would be a serial killer. Chills me to the bone.

He's an architect, his dad worked in the aerospace industry. This dude is incredibly SMART. This probably explains why he's been so hard to catch.

Somebody mentioned earlier that the police believed he'd stopped because he may have become too frail to do it anymore. Well, that's obviously not right. So why did he stop? Did he stop? Did he start doing it elsewhere? I'm sure we'll find out more as this progresses.

I'm thinking maybe he didn't want any workers around the house for ???reasons???? to fix his porch roof. I believe I read the kids are adults, but I will have to go back through articles to find that.

Could you imagine waking up and getting ready for work and seeing on TV that your dad is being arrested for the Long Island serial killer case!

Wow! I feel horrible for them.

Long Island serial killer suspect Rex Heuermann left his wife's hair on three of the prostitutes he is accused of murdering and his own DNA on another's body, prosecutors have revealed, as he makes his first court appearance.

Heuermann, 59, was dramatically arrested last night in midtown Manhattan outside his architectural office on Fifth Avenue.

He is suspected in the murders of the 'Gilgo Beach four' - four prostitutes whose remains were found on the Long Island beach in December 2010.

Today, Heuermann was charged with the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Costello and Megan Waterman.

He has been named as the prime suspect in the murder of Maureen Brainar-Barnes, and is also being investigated for the murders of another six women found dead near the beach in 2011.

Heuermann has not yet responded to the bombshell charges.

He was led out of a Long Island police station this afternoon in handcuffs, towering over the police officers escorting him.

  • His wife's DNA was found on three of the victims' bodies
  • One of his own hairs was found on one of the victims' bodies
  • Cell phone calls made from a burner phone to the victims were traced to his office
  • A call made to one of the victims' sisters after she died was traced to his office
  • His Tinder profile with photos of him was linked to the burner phone
  • His Chevrolet pick-up truck was seen by witness to one victim's disappearance
  • He matches description of 'ogre' like man seen with one victim before she vanished
  • Heuermann conducted graphic searches for child porn and images of women being sexually abused
  • He also searched Google for updates on the case, searching 'why could law enforcement not trace the calls made by the long island serial killer'

I read that but thought it said too old, not too frail. I'm sure in this first rush news too will get some things wrong etc., it seems they always do as the rush to get info out first, etc. So ARE we talking two serial killers I wonder... Clearly they've connected him to three or so it sounds... That's pretty quick but it seems they were planning this arrest as the lawyer for two victims new an arrest was imminent about a week ago didn't it say...?

No need to do that. I'd guess myself they were adults just guessing his age.

Yeah he'd likely maybe have good reason to not have anyone around his house like workers but boy he is also calling attention in a way by having a dilapidated house in Long Island. Didn't his kids or anyone visit? OMG he is probably a grandpa. This makes me sick.

It would be awful, there goes their day and not only the day but life changed forever. Makes me think of Delphi, out of the clear blue pretty much. And of BTK and his daughter who has been pretty vocal in the ID murder case, etc. and the years it takes them to deal with it and the notoriety of it and so on.

Gilgo Beach were the first murders weren't they? Or was it the other way around?
