ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

That's terrible they were never able to recover him. It makes me wonder about the proper people making absolutely sure this area was safe. This is terrifying. I would move. But I understand some people have probably been there their whole lives. And leaving that behind. I do completely understand that. I'm very sentimental. I would never feel safe. I pose no judgment. Just I understand on both sides. And it doesn't look like an upper-class neighborhood. My point in that is that the cost of relocating may not be an option. But if it IS deemed unsafe. Then whatever governmental department that is charge NEEDS to pay ALL COSTS THEY NEED!

Why should a business operate at a loss there?
It's scummy the way they are doing it. A car lot goes put of business. They tell you at the last minute in order to get another vehicle. Yours does not work. You can get another one. But insurance had to be a new company. So you have policy limits having to switch if something happens just hurts the home owner.

This is chilling.

Michael Turney trial: Judge dismisses case against Arizona man accused of killing his stepdaughter

A judge has granted a motion made by the defense to dismiss the case against Michael Turney.

The trial began one week ago, with several witnesses, including cold case detectives and Alissa's siblings testifying against their father. The judge said there was not enough substantial evidence to convict Turney of murdering Alissa. The judge also ordered that Turney be released.
