"DNA evidence has helped identify the remains of one of Alaska serial killer Robert Hansen’s victims, 37 years after her death.
Robin Pelkey is the name of the woman that was murdered in the early 1980s, according to the results of DNA research completed by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation Cold Case Unit and Parabon Nanolabs laboratory. The two agencies used new DNA samples from family members to construct a DNA profile and family tree for Pelkey, according to a Friday press release from the Alaska Department of Public Safety.
A new DNA profile for Pelkey was generated in August, and uploaded into a public geneaology database.
Pelkey, colloquially known for years as “Horseshoe Harriet,” was found dead April 25, 1984, near Horseshoe Lake in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. According to the release, records indicate that she had been living in Anchorage around the time when Hansen was active, and would have been 19 at the time of her murder.
Investigators found no record of her having been reported missing."

"In 1971, Winston Arthur Maxey III left his home in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 15. After talking with a friend in Boise, Winston had learned there were job opportunities in Oregon and made a plan to hitchhike to the coast. He told his sister he was going to Coos Bay - and in the spring of 1971, 15-year-old Winston left home.
Family members reported they had never heard from Winston again, not knowing if he arrived in Oregon.
In July 1971, an unidentified deceased juvenile male was reported to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office in the Engelwood area of Snedden Creek in Coos Bay.

The story if one goes into the link about the 15 year old though sad is kind of cool of how things came about. He was a father and did not know it. His daughter was given up for adoption and the daughter as an adult started trying to find her biological parents. She found her mother and got his name from her but then could find nothing about him anywhere... Or it went something like that... He died never knowing he fathered a child apparently.

Backyard Doe from 2019 has been identified as George Seitz.
"In March 2019, a woman contacted police and told them she remembered a body was buried in plastic bags in the backyard of a home on 115th St. near Jamaica Ave. Investigators quickly visited the location and collected the partial remains of an unknown male homicide victim. Investigators found a pelvis and part of a torso under concrete. The body was dismembered at the neck, shoulders and hips.

The [genealogical] investigation eventually revealed that the unknown man was George Seitz, a World War I veteran who went missing in December 1976. He was last seen leaving his home in Jamaica, NY on his way to get a haircut, according to prosecutors.
Further investigation by law enforcement revealed Martin Motta as the suspect in Seitz's murder. Prosecutors from the Queens DA's office have indicted Motta for the crime."

Waldschmidt said Yeary was a victim of human trafficking. She was often transient and stayed in the Milwaukee, Chicago and Beloit areas in the weeks before her death. Her family never reported her as a missing person. The sheriff said the family asked not to be contacted by the media about the case.
The investigation now focuses on the circumstances of her death."

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- The Henderson Police Department announced Thursday that the agency has identified the victim of a 1980 cold case homicide.
"The City of Henderson Police Department’s Investigative Division has identified the victim of their 1980 cold case homicide as 17-year-old Tammy Terrell.
On October 5th,1980, at approximately 9:00p.m., Tammy’s body was located by a passing motorist in the desert area near Arroyo Grande Boulevard and Lake Mead Parkway. Since the incident, Tammy had only been known as “Jane Arroyo Grande Doe”, as all attempts to identify her to this point had been unsuccessful. The Clark County Coroner’s Office had ruled her death a homicide.
On November 10, 2021, the City of Henderson Police Department’s Investigative Division received a positive identification confirmation, through the use of investigative genetic genealogy. Investigative genetic genealogy is the use of DNA testing to determine relationships between individuals and identify possible relatives of the unidentified victim. Detectives then contact these potential relatives in an attempt to identify family members that have gone missing.
Tammy was last seen at a restaurant in Roswell, New Mexico on the evening of September 28th, 1980, with an unidentified white male adult and white female adult; possibly planning to leave New Mexico for an unknown destination in California.
Due to the fact that this is still an open investigation, no additional details will be released at this time."
