DENVER (KKTV) - Texas law enforcement is seeking Colorado’s help in a 1984 cold case murder.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Texas Rangers and the Jack County Sheriff’s Office have identified the victim of a homicide in 1984 near Wizard Wells, Texas, as Roberta “Berta” Mumma.

CBI said Mumma’s remains were found in a remote area of Jack County, and her identity had been unknown until 2024. They said that with the help of advanced forensic techniques and DNA analysis, Mumma was finally identified.

According to the CBI, Mumma was 25 years old when she died.

Investigators believe that Mumma could have spent time in Colorado, specifically Boulder or Denver, and Texas Rangers now want to speak with anyone who may have known her.

Investigators have provided a yearbook photograph of Mumma as well as an age progression photo. Viewers are asked to remember hairstyles, lengths, colors and complexion in the age progression photo could look different. Photos are provided below.
