Dallas police searching for critical missing 11-year-old boy in Southwest Dallas
Dallas police are searching for an 11-year-old boy who disappeared overnight Wednesday. That's concerning enough, but they say he was only wearing shorts, socks and did not even have a shirt on and wasn’t dressed for the freezing cold.
Officers and volunteers have been searching his neighborhood and surrounding areas.
11-year-old Traveon Michael Allen Griffin was last seen around midnight Wednesday in the 5900 block of Naravista Drive. Police upgraded the case to critical because of the clothing he had on and the cold temperatures.
Crews on horseback and police even had a drone up as the weather is below freezing and has been for most of the day.
Earlier in the day, police and volunteers went door-to-door asking people if they’ve seen Traveon.
Police have a staging area at a nearby school. The search is focused on a park that had a pond and creek nearby.
Investigators said they do not suspect foul play.
"Some of his nature is to kind of hide, so we're hoping that's what he's doing," said Dallas Police Sgt. Warren Mitchell. "Because as we reported earlier, he did leave home wearing socks and shorts and you all know with this frigid temperature here, that’s not good."
