ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

Here's an article that states inconsistent statements from a roommate of the daughter, With whom the victim was living with also. So why didn't they explore that?. There was evidence to lead them to believe it was someone in the house.A woman sized shoe print. Why they zeroed in on these guys. It was easy. They were very young, Living in a car, History of drug abuse. But the person responsible got away with it.

That's what really pisses me off about these things. Ooops! We made an obvious mistake, but we're still sure they did it and so it would be a waste of time to look for anyone else.

Look at the West Memphis Three. There's evidence that someone else, who's known to the cops and had motive and opportunity, that will never be investigated. The three did it and that's that.

Great example. I've seen all 3 "Paradise Lost" Documentaries. I strongly suspect "Terry Hobbs". And no one did ANYTHING about the man at "Bo Jangles". They should have called the police immediately!!! He was never seen again. But the boys would trust going with Terry. And his events and times on that day were inconsistent. And people he said he was with said the time was different or he wasn't there at all. Alot of people are now dead in that case from the boys families. I don't think Mark Byers did it. But he is a compulsive liar. He was caught in lies during the documentary. But lies that didn't matter to the case. But Melissa Byers died mysteriously from drugs that medics found suspicious. He did pass a lie detector test. However, Being the liar he is. He could pass it. He was also acting for the cameras.

Oh yeahhh. Mark has since died. I think the rest of the parents are alive. But Pam Hobbs changed her name and got away from Terry. So that certainly is an indicator. And there were witnesses that saw Terry with the boys that evening. So why didn't LE go after him?. Instead of the 3?. Hobbs was/is nothing special. Damien's family and Jessie's seemed as resilient as much as they could be. But you could tell it destroyed Jason's mother.

This is unreal!!!! SERIOUSLY?!!! The planning of this. Got away with it until a fraud investigation. I've heard of a woman enrolling in high school to learn English. Which is ridiculous. But I have never heard of anything like this!!!

The whole thing is so disturbing. Being cheated on. I would break up with the person. Yeah! DONE! This?. And with VIDEO. Well, You busted yourself. Especially him being heard saying he couldn't breathe. You had the chance to let him out. If only more murderers were as dumb at this. That would be great. I'm not voluntarily getting into a suitcase. Is it a magic show?. No. NOPE!
No way would I agree to climb into a suitcase! Not for fun, or even just to see if I would fit.
What did she say to him to get him to agree to climb in, I wonder? Was it really as simple as, "let's see if you fit in this suitcase, just for fun".. ? No way did he fall for the "hide-n-seek" thing.
If he did, then, dang, the things people are willing to do in the name of "hide-and-seek" 😶‍🌫️👀.. however, I'm not sure when the seeker started helping the hider, hide 🤔. I think it's safe to say that she was only fooling herself with that one.

The trial for Sarah Boone, a Florida woman accused of zipping her boyfriend into a suitcase and leaving him to die after a game of hide and seek, has been delayed until to Oct. 2, 2023 officials said Friday. The trial was originally set to begin on Monday.

Her lawyers must be having a difficult time finding expert witnesses for the defense.

No kidding, should be interesting to see what they get for "experts" in this one.

Just pointing out like I do yet ANOTHER delay in ANOTHER case. Such an EFFICIENT court system. Not. And it was to begin yesterday? SMH.

High school is a place I would never want to go back to 😳 I got that diploma and never looked back! 😅 There is only one obvious motive in this case and it's disturbing.. This guy needs some serious help! I'm curious how he got caught.
I didn't see identity theft as a charge; So, was it a made up name with fabricated documents? 🤔
Too bad this guy didn't use his brain power and ambition towards a positive goal, because that took a lot of scheming, and guts 😬.

Name sounds familiar but no case or details come to mind. Is it one we have a thread on? I assume not since it is posted in this one.
We may have had a thread before the crash but not now.

Alicia was last seen in Glendale, Arizona on September 15, 2019. At 1:00 a.m. she came downstairs for a glass of water and asked her mother why she was still awake. Her mother didn't think much of this and went to sleep.

When her mother woke up at 7:00 a.m., the back door was open, chairs were placed against a brick wall in the backyard and there were shoe prints matching Alicia's sneakers. It appeared she'd used the chairs to climb over the wall.

Sometime during the night, Alicia had left her home in the vicinity of 45th Avenue and Rose Lane on foot. She took a small black backpack, her silver iPhone 6 cellular phone, and her silver Apple MacBook computer, but didn't take the chargers. She left behind the laptop she used for school and the desktop computer she used for games.

Her mother believes she left to meet someone she'd been talking to online. She left a note saying, "I ran away. I will be back, I swear. I'm sorry. -- Alicia." She never returned and has never been heard from again.

I went into the link. So she was a young teen at the time, diagnosed with autism just a couple of years prior, had severe anxiety and was prone to nervous breakdowns, etc. Hispanic. Liked a strict routine per her mom.

So young enough that wherever she has been or whoever had her would have committed a crime unless family and even then possibly as well. Or did she leave and make it on her own, lying about her age, cant' see that being the case.

Or is it known where she was and what the story is. I was working so haven't read anything else, just that she was alive and I didn't know the case so that and this Charley Project link is all I've seen.

Well to state obvious facts:

She was NOT "found," she walked into the PD once 18.

She looks a whole lot better and happier younger than now.

My guess is whoever she is with thinks now that she is 18 they are in the clear and likely sent her in to say she is 18 and left on her own. I doubt that's true or that she's been supporting herself all these years with no one else in the picture.

it is awesome she is alive.

More information. So it seems to me she was with this guy the whole time. From what I gather from the article. So he isn't much older. But still technically an adult. Still much more answers are needed. To me, She doesn't look older. She still looks like a young teen. She wanted a license. If she didn't run away. Why would she threaten to "Go back"?.
