ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

A Texas man who learned he had been scammed out of $40 by a fake parking attendant left his date inside a Houston restaurant, retrieved a gun from his car and allegedly fatally shot the man before returning for dinner, according to court records.

Erick Aguirre faces murder charges in the April 11 death of 46-year-old Elliot Nix. Aguirre’s date contacted police two days later after police had released photos of the couple, who had been identified by tips to Crime Stoppers.

stupidity about this too. Just stupidity.

Yep. I'd read about it in a different article. Shoots the people who complained about his shooting. Go to a shooting range, Open land maybe. Now. Just open up guns on them. This is just depraved. It seems, IMO, That people's Morals, Values, Beliefs in how to live, Scruples, Ethics, That make us better human beings, Is quickly disappearing

This one is just hitting some coverage. Awful. Yet another. This is dad's girlfriend, she kills his gone child and puts child in like a ten gallon bucket and then wheels her in a wagon down to her bio mom's house who lives a few blocks away and puts the bucket in her yard. There is video of her with the wagon etc.

Dad comes home after working til 9 p.m. and finds one kid home but no gf and not the other daughter.

HORRIBLE

She is in jail. It is a short video.

Not sure if there should be a case thread? It isn't a whodunit but I'd like to see her put away and the key thrown away and I hope she just pleads and doesn't go to trial but then most do it seems... Could follow that. I'm sure more will likely come out.

There was an AMBER Alert (possibly only an Endangered Missing Advisory) out for the girls earlier today, I believe. Doesn't appear that they've released much detail regarding the deaths yet. He (the RSO) was set to have a trial today.

McFadden’s trial Monday would have decided whether he was guilty of sexting an underage girl on a contraband phone while he was incarcerated in 2017, the network said.

Webster’s father told the network that his daughter had gone to spend the weekend with McFadden and his family before without incident.

A sex offender in Oklahoma who was found dead on Monday with six other people — including two girls who had vanished — reportedly has a wife and three children who are also missing.

Officials have not identified the four other people who were found dead in Henryetta. Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office said three of the bodies are that of Ivy Webster, 14, Brittany Brewer, 16, and Jesse McFadden, 39.

McFadden has a 2004 conviction for first-degree rape. He received a 20-year sentence and was released in October 2020. The day the emergency alert was issued for Brewer and Webster, McFadden was scheduled to stand trial for charges of soliciting sexual communication with a minor using technology and possession or distribution of juvenile pornography.

Police had linked McFadden to Brewer and Webster’s disappearances. A homeowner who lived across the street from McFadden told KJRH that on Saturday, McFadden asked him if he could park his pickup truck over there because he was hiding it from a family member.

Previous reports indicated that Brewer and Webster were supposed to go with their friend Tiffany (McFadden’s stepdaughter) to work on a ranch in McAlester on Saturday and return the following day. McFadden and his wife, Holly, (Tiffany’s mother) were to go with them to the ranch, according to KTUL.

KJRH reported that Holly, Tiffany, and Holly’s two other sons remain unaccounted for. Webster’s mother revealed to KOKI that the seven bodies found on Monday consisted of five children and two adults.

HENRYETTA, Okla. (AP) — A woman said Tuesday that her daughter and three teenage grandchildren were among the seven people found shot to death at a rural Oklahoma property during a search for two missing teens and a convicted sex offender.

Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddy Rice said Monday that the seven bodies found near the town of Henryetta were believed to include those of Ivy Webster, 14, and Brittany Brewer, 16, along with Jesse McFadden, the felon with whom authorities said the teens had been traveling. But Rice said the state medical examiner would have to confirm the victims’ identities.

Janette Mayo, 59, of Westville, Oklahoma, said the sheriff’s office notified her late Monday that the other four victims were her daughter, Holly Guess, 35, and her grandchildren, Rylee Elizabeth Allen, 17; Michael James Mayo, 15; and Tiffany Dore Guess, 13. Mayo said Tiffany Guess was close friends with Webster and Brewer, who were spending the weekend with the family.

While Rice declined to provide details of how they died, Mayo said the sheriff’s office told her that her daughter and grandchildren were all found shot to death on the property.

Mayo said she and her family did not know about McFadden’s criminal history until a couple of months ago.

“He lied to my daughter, and he convinced her it was all just a huge mistake,” Mayo told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Tuesday morning. “He was very demure. He was very standoffish, generally very quiet, but he kept my daughter and the kids basically under lock and key. He had to know where they were at all times, which sent red flags up.”

Florida prosecutors will seek the death penalty for the man accused of orchestrating the brutal murder of Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan in front of his daughter last year.

Mario Saldana-Fernandez allegedly masterminded the shooting death in a “cold, calculated and premeditated manner without any pretense of moral or legal justification,” prosecutors said Wednesday.

Bridegan was gunned down after dropping off two of his children at the Jacksonville Beach home of Shanna Gardner-Fernandez, his ex-wife, who had gone on to marry Saldana-Fernandez.

Bridegan and his ex were in the midst of an increasingly bitter custody fight at the time.

Henry Tenon, a former tenant at one of Saldana-Fernandez’s rental properties, was also arrested in connection with Bridegan’s death.

Man faces murder charge in Michigan 39 years after baby went missing

Thirty-nine years after an infant girl went missing and after decades of pursuit of a criminal prosecution, the ex-husband of a long-missing child's mother is being charged with murder.

Isiah Williams is in the process of being extradited from Chicago on a charge of open murder in the case of Olisa Williams, the Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced this week.

On Thursday, speaking to the press alongside Ann Arbor Police Chief Michael Cox, Nessel said it's believed Isiah Williams killed the child in an effort to control the child's mother, Denise Frazier-Daniel, as part of a cycle of domestic abuse.

ANN ARBOR, MI – A Washtenaw County judge found that, despite the lack of a body, there was enough evidence to send a father to trial for the murder of his infant daughter who disappeared in the summer of 1982.

Isiah Williams was bound over for trial Tuesday, May 2, on one count of open murder after a preliminary examination before Washtenaw County 14A District Judge Cedric Simpson who found there was more than enough evidence for a jury to consider the case.

Williams, 75, was arraigned Jan. 21, 2022, on open murder charges after being extradited from Chicago to face allegations he killed his infant daughter, Olisa Williams, who has been missing since July 1982 and presumed dead.

Simpson, after hearing testimony from investigators and multiple ex-girlfriends and witnesses who described years of violent physical abuse by Williams in the past, bound the case over the to the trial court based on circumstantial evidence.

Williams attended the preliminary examination via Zoom from his cell in the Washtenaw County Jail. He remined in bed sleeping throughout the proceeding.

<snip>
The case has been assigned to Washtenaw County Trail Judge Patrick Conlin Jr. with a pretrial hearing scheduled for May 17.

Williams remains detained in the Washtenaw County Jail without bond.
