Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

A short Lauren Scharf one with the family and friend of another unsolved Colorado murdered woman from 2018. I have a real opinion of Colorado these days and just another one yet to confirm it (every time I think I'm being unfair it seems to be another family with no answers or progress, etc.)... Not sure if there is a thread on this one, I think I have seen the case before briefly somewhere but not recently... The family and friends are trying to get some focus on it.

Hopefully the school had hallway cameras pointing towards the bathroom. If so it should be fairly easy to see who entered the bathroom before the mess was found. Cameras are not usually allowed inside school bathrooms, for obvious reasons.

Yes. File charges! An 11 yr old boy does that to a woman. He deserves to have the s*** beat out of him. He doesn't feel bad. What about after that?. Turn the tables. He need a harsh punishment from the justice system so that he doesn't think he can get away with this and in the future. No empathy. Justified his actions. We are looking at a future rapist and serial killer.

Student will either be expelled or given a long suspension from school. He will be allowed to enroll in another nearby school fod a "fresh start." The teacher will get yelled at for not maintaining "classroom management. " I know so many former teachers who have left teaching it is not funny. Some of them were 3-5 years from retirement.
