Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Wow. Very disappointing he is dead and he doesn't have to face the world and justice on earth. And he died in Iowa. I wonder what part and other things like did he have family, etc. An answer on this one has been a long time coming. Very big news.

3 murders? I thought it was A LOT more than that.

I think a number of them were assaults without murder. I too though thought it was a few more murders than that. Maybe they are only talking the ones they were able to tie by DNA?

Georgia prisoner linked to soldier’s 1982 cold case killing​

Investigators believe they’ve solved the killing of a young U.S. Army private who vanished on her way back to her barracks at Fort Benning four decades ago.

René Dawn Blackmore, 20, went missing the night of April 29, 1982, the GBI said. The Arizona woman’s sweater and wallet were discovered a month later on the side of the road less than 20 miles away Blackmore’s remains were found in late June of that year a few miles south in Chattahoochee County. Investigators determined the soldier had been killed by a shotgun blast and later identified Marcellus McCluster as a possible suspect in her disappearance and slaying.

The case stalled for nearly four decades until late 2020, when the GBI established a Cold Case Unit comprised of retired investigators and decided to take another look at Blackmore’s death. the unit was able to link McCluster to the deadly shooting.

A grand jury indicted him late last month on one count of malice murder and four counts of felony murder, but it didn’t take long for authorities to find him. Now 64, McCluster is already serving a life prison sentence for an unrelated 1983 murder conviction in Stewart County,

Kimberly Schwartz, assistant district attorney for the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit, said Blackmore’s life was cut short ahead of her 21st birthday. Though her killing went unsolved for 40 years, the prosecutor said “there is no expiration date on that kind of evil.”

Oh Lord a woman blamed her IBS and defecating in her car on the fact she hit two bike riders--brothers... Not saying such doesn't exist but a witness says otherwise.... Both brothers died. She failed all sobriety tests... And managed to stop her car when she was away from the scene... Scott sure finds the cases...
