ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Oliver Manik has been suspended from school for 10 days, with expulsion recommended. He is also expected to be held in a juvenile detention center until Dec. 24.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Manik made the threat this week against the school where 17 people were murdered in February 2018.

Investigators say the threat in a social media chat room was reported around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Manik was arrested at his home Thursday morning and faces a charge of writing threats to conduct a mass shooting.

The threat came one day after a student allegedly killed four classmates in Michigan.

“I feel like school shooting tmrw (tomorrow). When I sneeze it’s a signal go to the bathroom OK. I hope y’all aren’t snitches,” the message said, according to a probable cause affidavit.

O.K. So why was he out? With a history of doing things like this to strangers. He is a threat to the public. He doesn't look mentally sound. "Captain bandana". Anyone think you're really a Captain?.
