Its equivalent to nearly a $1000 anyway but ignore it if you don't care. It's still a small amount after 20 years.
I wonder why he never got parole?
Ah - he had prior convictions which is why he got so long.
They finally admitted their mistake prosecuting him at all. He purchased the money order from the actual perps who had stolen it.
Hopefully he will get some compensation now.

House prices here have more than tripled but I guess that doesn't contribute to inflation?

They never listened to him at all and just convicted him without any real investigating, it seems.

According to court documents obtained by KFOR, authorities began investigating 36-year-olds Nathan Potier and Erica Palmer after learning that the 14-year-old victim was pregnant with twins. The relationship of the 14-year-old and Potier and Palmer was not specified, but she was placed into foster care after the investigation began.
Palmer allegedly told police that she wanted to have children with Potier but could not because her tubes were tied. Authorities obtained a warrant to test Potier's DNA against the teen's children, but Potier and Palmer allegedly fled the state before a DNA test could be done.
Potier had allegedly previously been accused of sexually abusing the same victim, which Palmer was aware of.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office announced that both Palmer and Potier were arrested on March 17 after learning they were hiding in the area around Reno, Nevada.
Palmer was charged with enabling sexual abuse of a child, and Potier was charged with sexual assault of a child.

The documents state that, while driving, an argument broke out between Webber and Wells.
The witnesses, identified in the charging documents as W1 and W2, told police that Webber pulled out a firearm and shot Wells twice in the head during the argument. The statement of charges says Webber then pulled the vehicle over and asked the passengers to remove Wells from the car, which they refused.
The two witnesses exited the vehicle and flagged down a police officer, the documents state, while Webber drove off with Wells still inside the car. According to the filing, around 12:41 a.m. on March 23, a resident at 10115 Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall discovered Wells’ body on the side of the road.
