Bondi Beach is an iconic beach destination in Sydney and is a well known Australian location. This has shocked Australians.

One of the suspects in the Bondi Beach terrorist incident is in custody and named and one is dead. A vehicle rigged with explosives was also found.

Twelve people are dead after a mass shooting at Bondi Beach, where two men have stood on a pedestrian bridge and opened fire on families and crowds gathered in the areas below.
One of the gunmen is among the fatalities, according to police. Another 29 people have been injured, including two police officers.
Videos and witness accounts have been shared widely. This is what they tell us about how the terrorist attack unfolded.
Witnesses who were in the North Bondi area told ABC News that early on Sunday evening they heard several loud bangs before seeing people around them injured and bleeding.
Further towards the south end of the beach, witness Marley Carroll said he heard two loud bangs before “a rush of people” ran towards him.
“They were running away from the shooter to us,” he said.
“That’s when we realised everyone around us was just running and people were running on the roads, car horns going off, people were crying and I recall a group of girls running past us saying, ‘He’s shooting people, he’s shooting people.’”

Police said they started to receive reports of shots being fired at an area called Archer Park in Bondi Beach at 6:47pm AEDT.
Around the same time, mobile phones in Sydney’s east started to light up as friends and family urgently asked one another: “Are you in Bondi?”
In the popular Facebook group Bondi Local Loop, where more than 150,000 members post about beach parties and selling pot plants, desperate messages started to emerge: “What on Earth is going on at the beach?”
Then videos started to circulate among locals.
In footage that has now been independently verified by the ABC, two men can be seen standing on the cement pedestrian bridge at the northern end of the beach, firing towards crowds.
There are several angles of the attack from the footbridge, including from a drone that was overhead at the time.

On a Sunday afternoon in the middle of summer, Bondi Beach is incredibly beautiful and incredibly popular. At the northern end, crowds settle in for sunset on the beach, in the park and on the hill that provides a view of it all.
There is an area often used for festivals and events, as well as a children’s playground.
To get to the northern end of the world-famous beach, pedestrians can cross a cement bridge that moves them from the main street that runs the length of the beach, Campbell Parade, over car parks to the grassy areas, the sand and eventually the sea.
This is a path well trodden by Bondi Beach goers.
But on Sunday afternoon, two men stood on that footbridge with firearms and killed multiple people and injured dozens more.
In the area in front of them, a Jewish festival was being held. The Chanukah by the Sea event was reportedly attended by families, and officials have said at least one child has been injured.
Sunday is the first day of Chanukah, or Hanukkah, an eight-day Jewish festival of lights.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the shooting was a “targeted attack on Jewish Australians on the first day of Hanukkah”.

In the area under the footbridge were parked cars where the ABC understands people were taking shelter.
A video shows that sometime before 7:30pm one of the gunmen had moved off the bridge onto the footpath level and was rushed by a member of the public.
In the footage, a man can be seen creeping up behind the gunman, before grabbing the firearm and turning it on the attacker.
This man has been hailed a hero, single-handedly disarming one of the gunmen and putting himself in harm’s way to do it.

By 7:30pm, a video of two men lying face down on the footbridge was shared among locals.
In the video, the men are not moving and police are attempting to handcuff them as locals film the scene and scream at the gunmen who have just devastated a community and a city.
There has been a mammoth response in Bondi, with locals, tourists and lifeguards tending to the injured. Locals have offered those stuck in the area their living rooms to sit and wait and talk.
Bondi Lifeguards posted on social media saying that while the terrorist attack was underway, they were still rescuing people from the waves out at sea.
Dozens of police and ambulance units responded, with a massive operation underway for hours after the shooting stopped.

Authorities cordoned off a wide area around Bondi Beach, stopping cars entering the area. They were warning that while one gunmen was dead and the other in custody, they believed there was a threat from improvised explosive device in their vehicle at the scene.
At 9:36pm AEDT police designated this event as a terrorist attack.
“I have also authorised special powers ... to ensure that if there is a third offender, and we are currently investigating that at the moment, we will make sure that we prevent any further activity,” NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said.
At about the same time, one of the gunmen was named as Naveed Akram.
By 11pm AEDT police confirmed the explosive material had been secured and relocated, and while there was no longer an active operation, the site was now officially a crime scene.

So watching a live YT on the Brown shooting. I hadn't really followed it nor read the links here. Didn't realize the guy they WRONGLY had was from WI, although I think it was said that he had an apt or hotel room (can't recall which) in DC. Military. AND someone leaked the guy's name and now he's not the one, or apparently isn't.

A nine-year-old girl has been stabbed to death at a house in a quiet street in Somerset.
Aria Thorpe, who had celebrated her ninth birthday just two weeks ago with a Kpop Demon Hunters party, was found dead at a property in Weston-super-Mare just after 6pm on Monday.
A teenage boy was later arrested outside Worle rail station, less than half a mile from the scene, and held on suspicion of murdering Aria.
Aria was described today as a 'lovely little girl' who loved dressing up, having her hair styled and wearing make up.
She and her best friend even tried to set up a YouTube channel six months ago until their parents ordered them to take it down.

The friend's mother Tamara Taylor, 40, sobbed as she said today: 'Aria was a lovely little girl, sassy for her age. She loved dressing up and doing what little girls do.
'She and my daughter were best friends, they were always playing together and would be in each other's houses every night.
'My daughter knew something happened in Aria's house last night and we sent her to her grandmother's to keep her away.

'I'm dreading telling her when she comes home from school later. How do you tell an eight-year-old girl that her best friend has been killed in a suspected murder.'
Aria lived in a three bedroomed housing association property with her hairdresser mother Victoria Hull, 36.
Aria and her friend were looking forward to Christmas and had been taking about their wish list together just the night before the tragic stabbing.
Mrs Taylor, a Co-op team leader and mother-of-two, said: 'It was only two weeks ago that our daughter went to Aria's Kpop party.
'They were always playing together and had been at the same after school dance class on the night it happened.
'I just can't believe it. You hear about these things and then suddenly it's on your own doorstep.'
Aria was a pupil at Beckett Primary School where children have not been told of the tragedy.
Aria's mother and her three children had lived in the street for more than six years. She split from her previous boyfriend and had recently started seeing a local plumber.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said today: 'A murder investigation is being carried out following the death of a nine-year-old girl at an address in Weston-super-Mare.
'We were called by paramedics to a residential address in Lime Close, in the Mead Vale area, at 6.09pm yesterday (Monday 15 December). The first officer arrived at the scene at 6.12pm.

Neighbours were shocked after being told a child was stabbed to death in their quiet street just 10 days before Christmas.
The nine-year-old died at the after screams were heard coming from the property.
A large police cordon was extended today as police and forensic officers investigated.
One neighbour in Lime Close said: 'It's terrible at any time of year but at Christmas, it's too dreadful to think about.
'The police have been knocking doors asking if we saw our heard anything.
'We were told not to worry because they've got the person responsible.'
Another neighbour said: 'They haven't been there long...the kids play with other children in the street, there's never been any trouble.'
Another resident of the quiet street of private and housing association properties said: 'My mate who lives closer to the family said people heard screaming. The next thing the street was full of police cars and ambulances.'
A set of bunk beds could be seen in the rear bedroom and a fluffy pink toy was on the window ledge.
Superintendent Jen Appleford said: 'We know the whole of Weston-super-Mare will be distraught and shocked to learn of this utterly dreadful news.
'The girl's family were informed last night of what had happened. It is impossible for us to adequately put into words the pain and anguish they are feeling right now.
'Our heartfelt condolences go out to them, and we'll ensure they receive support from a specially trained officer.
'A criminal investigation is already well underway to establish the facts of this case. The formal identification process has not yet been completed, and a post-mortem examination will also be conducted.
'Out of respect for the family we'd please ask people not to speculate on the circumstances, or the identities of those involved, because that will only add to their enormous distress.'
Supt Appleford added: 'We have no doubt the community will come together as one in response to this tragedy.
'Enquiries are being carried out at the property as part of our investigation and we'd ask for people's patience and understanding while that work is undertaken.
'We will ensure our officers are available to provide reassurance and support to all. There will be an increased police presence in the area in the coming days, and we urge anyone with concerns to please speak to us, however we'd like to reassure people we are not aware of there being any increased risk to public safety.
'We will continue to provide updates to the public as our investigation progresses.'
South West Ambulance Service sent two crews, one critical care car and a Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene last night.
According to an eyewitness, police deployed sniffer dogs in the search for a weapon.
The woman told a local Facebook group: 'While I was walking the dog, a police officer with a Belgian Malanois told me to cross the road as the dogs were searching the area.'

I was going to read the link but you probably have most here and it is long so I read this instead. Wow. I have a lot of questions, wondering if you have the same ones.

Was there a teenaged boy in the family, I mean who is in the pictures? I'm not saying he did it, but there aren't a lot of facts here...

And not that it likely relates but what the heck is a kpop "demon" party? I'm so behind the times.

This is awful.

The one whose face is not blocked out is the girl who was stabbed. The other two must be siblings and look older.

Judging by the below a teenage boy was arrested 7 minutes after police arrived at the scene. So I am guessing he is family but I am not sure. There looks like a teen boy is in that pic and a teen girl both blocked out.

" We were called by paramedics to a residential address in Lime Close, in the Mead Vale area, at 6.09pm yesterday (Monday 15 December). The first officer arrived at the scene at 6.12pm.

It also says the suspect was arrested outside a rail station in Worle which is less than half a mile from the scene. So it looks like he was trying to get away.

Yeah, exactly what I was wondering. Was the one who looks to be a teen boy in the picture the same one arrested, and possibly her sibling? Clearly the two blocked out in the pics are minors as the only ones not are the mom and the victim.

So it could well have been the brother OR perhaps he had a friend over but looking like a family thing just on what is here so far... Possibly but of course, no way to be sure.
